Haw2pley:
Arrow keys - movement
Z - shoot (just hold it)
X - bomb (experiment with that)
Shift - focuse (makes you slower, good for dodging lots of bullets)

Step 1: Download the game and extract the files
Step 2: Open the game
Step 3: Click "Start"
Step 4: Choose difficulty (Normal), character and shottype (you will choose ReimuA)
Step 5: ?????
Step 6: Profit

You'll learn all other things there are to the game by yourself, I haven't even known about focusing when I started. Don't worry about being bad, you will get good eventually probably. Use the continues and don't reset, so that you practice more. And, what is the most important, have fun

I would really recommend playing the games though, not because its what the elitists do (although it IS what elitists do), but because they are actually really charming and lots of fun. Even if you just play little by little, as long as you don't lose heart and are having fun you'll get the hang of it eventually!
If you can stomach playing on an Emulator, the first games in the series for PC98 are actually lots of fun and are, for the most part, an excellent introduction to most Touhou mechanics.
