Well, it takes a fuckton of grinding to create a completely perfect artifact fused item. From my perspective static artifacts are neat items for new players/non-min maxers, but the option to create something absolutely perfect on your own to me is a lot cooler than finding some item and it automatically being the best. Seeing as static artifacts aren't rare in the slightest it would actually be kind of lame and everyone would have maxed gear without trying.

Did some testing in wizard mode and unarmed refuses to do more than 1 time hit per turn regardless of skill level or number of empy arms. Duel wield does 1 per wep equipped. So its between it and two handed as for which is worth going for, depending on how many slots you need to use on duel wield to equip accuracy compensating items I guess. Not really sure how to test that.

Continuing my thoughts from earlier, you can sleep with <Urcaguary>. She has to be at soul mate though for some reason. Remember to be sleepy and be over a bed.

Why I wanted to teach fire a volley to a snail is that I stumbled on something important. If you're at full health salt will take you into the single digits. It will also bring your gauge up to 95%. 16 snails using fire a volley with guaranteed critical hits could be an amusing way to kill enemies. Just get the heaviest ammo possible to boost critical damage.

Most melee is capped at 4, MA caps at 8. I think Ranged can only get one or two?
Dual Wield can get "furthermore" attacks on every hand's hit, but every additional hand gets an increasing penalty to getting them.

Its extra arms I was seeing if help unarmed, like if it hit once per arm or your char is unable to use multiple arms despite having them unless holding something. The latter is the case. Which means its a question of if duel wielding is not only strong enough to compare to unarmed/2 handers but strong enough to be worth using mutant slots on hands over... whatever else you'd use them on. Of which I'm not sure since you can't wear multiple of the same artifact so no multiple 7 leagues/that one Ashura necklace, etc and I don't know if the good effects are more likely to spawn on certain types of equips or not since I never really bothered with crafting or messed with equips much on my last char

I remember someone here with an absurdly strong char said on his char duel wield is the weakest way of melee fighting, but I don't think his was a mutant, or how close it was. If it was even vaguely close on a standard 2 armed char duel wield should easily win. Now that's an interesting question. How does a living lightsaber stack up against a living claymore if wielded two handed? Lightsaber has 100% pierce while claymore has 0% but the claymore has the better damage dice. Decided to take Kai and do some damage tests against the enemies I'm fighting in the void which have cap attributes and cap skills. Important here is the cap armor skills.

Both Claymore and Lightsaber are around 420s. Lightsaber I kept ether but applied a craft repair kit. Claymore I used an adamantium material kit and craft repair kit. Both have been enhanced to +10 using the blacksmith. All 10 living weapon levels went to magic damage for both of them.

Despite the living lightsaber having less damage dice, it was doing more damage than my living claymore. I'm thinking it's due to the 100% pierce. In the instance of my pic, total damage for the lightsaber was 1,078,278 while claymore is 752,467. Ignoring the damage with proximity assist, highest crit/magic damage for the living lightsaber totaled 347,027 and living claymore totaled 296,863. Interestingly for non crit damage the living claymore beat out the living lightsaber though.

So now I've went from a living spear, to a living claymore(which currently sometimes does a bit more damage than my living spear despite my sword skill being much less than my polearm skill.), to now a heavy living lightsaber. Anyone else with a two hand build giving heavy living lightsabers a go? Hows your damage? I suspect pierce really matters against enemies that scale.

If I'm understanding your question correctly, how long does it take for me to level up my living weapon to lv 10? Maybe 5 minutes? The reason why it's so fast is mainly because I'm killing very high level enemies in the void with the living weapon. In my earlier days I found challenge and panic quest monsters to be good for leveling living weapons so I would look into those quests and if those aren't even available for you then look into killing dungeon bosses. At any rate, you're looking to kill high level monsters or failing that, lots of enemies to reach whatever exp the weapon needs to level.

Getting the living weapon to level up with magic damage is pretty easy. All I do is kill monsters with the living weapon until it's at 100% and ready to level up. I then look to see if magic damage is an option for level up. If it's not I cancel out of the menu and go to the blacksmith to enhance it by +1. So I enhance and then look at the level up menu again. If magic damage is there I'm golden but if it's not I just keep enhancing the weapon by +1 until I find it as a choice for leveling up.

After that, I just level up my living weapon quickly against powerful monsters and every single time I level it up magic damage should be in the menu for choosing.

Did some tests with a 10 armed mutant, although the char info screen only shows up to 7 arms accuracy far as I can tell. Duel wield skill makes a much bigger dif to accuracy than weapon skill, and weight of wep even under 4 makes a massive difference. Using nothing but the same type of wep and having them be 2 weight at the most increases your accuracy greatly, especially for the really unnacurate later weps.
The 7th weapon is a massive falloff point in accuracy if you have both good duel wield and wep skill so 7, 8 or maybe 9 at a stretch would probably be a realistic number before you start looking into neck/hands before adding more. Wish i could see the accuracy of the rest.
The questions now are:
What is better for accuracy, necks or hands? You want 1 neck slot for Ashura+ hit thing but beyond that I don't have any items that add accuracy to compare
And could one simply stack crit items to forego accuracy entirely. And if so, what slots are best for that?
You can get 100+ to 80% accuracy for 4 weps pretty easily, at relatively low skill levels. About 50 both if your weps are light. The ones after those barely care
At 25% duel wield skill and 25% longsword, the acc goes down 20% per arm. At 50% long sword, it goes down about 30%, at 75%, it goes down about 40%. This pattern is actually consistent. Weird
Raising duel wield keeps the first 4 weps much, much closer and somehow makes the 6th wep more accurate than the 5th.
So it makes sense to focus on raising duel wield before your wep skills for this.

I'm no mutant but maybe this might shed some light on the crit vs accuracy topic. I took my heaviest spears out of storage, both around 420s, and equipped them to dual wield. Normally you don't want do do this because it can kill your speed and just having 2 of these on me put me close to overweight. It also kills your accuracy but I wanted just that for the experiment.

For this experiment I wanted to know if I could still hit enemies that have cap evasion and greater evasion despite running negative accuracy. I would be mostly relying on my ability to hit through crits. Helped through the Eye of Mind skill

Interestingly I didn't have problems hitting for the most part. Most of my hits landed on enemies. Like in my pic, I landed 7 of the 8 hits attempted at the monster. So at very high levels of eye of mind/crit chance you might be able to get away with bad accuracy.

It's not how it works. To get all limbs you need to get first 15 limbs at level one. Therefore if you're aiming to big amount of hands - you'll have a lot of them from the very beggining. Doctor Gavela, npc in South Tyris. He can add limbs to any character, up to 15.
So, to unleash mutant potential you need to reach him(act2) with character level 1, before you get any limbs from leveling. Get 11 limbs from Gavela, up to 15. And only after that you can start gain exp, and grow limbs with levels.

In this case it's pick your poison. If you go the living weapon route you have to deal with needing stardust and materiums. If you go the artifact fusion route you will definitely want scrolls of gain attribute and if you're going to add magic damage you're going to need lots of sox to get the required tear jewel. Stardust and scrolls of gain attribute are going to be your major hurdles.

If you go the artifact fusion route you can add magic damage, absolute pierce, invokes, or remote blow for example. If it were me I'd look into combining an invoke and magic damage. If you go the living weapon route it's very hard to get another enchant on the living weapon at a pretty good magnitude but it might be possible. In that case I'd be hoping for another elemental damage such as ice at a pretty good magnitude or maybe an invoke.

I decided to write another custom tone file for Elona+, this time around the ever popular Golden Knight.

This tone text is made for the latest version of Elona+ (v1.71)

In previous tone files I wrote before, I tried to keep a vanilla interpretation of the NPCs in mind. This is no different, but default Golden Knight had nothing to go on other than a JPN description not available in ENG which only describes her looks. So I took a small liberty.
In my headcanon I've always thought she'd be the kind of onee-chan who wants to be relied on, but also wants to be praised as well. I tried not to overdue it though.

As usual:
- I'm no writer, so suggestions, improvements and grammar corrections would be appreciated
- I borrowed some stuff from the Generic Dialogue banter in the pastebin
- Still needs some playtesting to know if the text flows well
- The Japanese text is still default

Probably personal taste but before I made my own I changed all the contractions in the Young Lady tone to the full words (Can't -> Can not, etc) because it seems more 'refined speech' to me.

Yeah, that makes sense. I think I tend to use short form words a bit too often and sometimes it messes with the flow of text.
I think it can also depends on how "Young" the players' interpretation of "Young" lady is.

"Young" could range from Little Child to Young Adult depending on how you translate it.
In-game, Young Ladies when generated from diaries can have their age range from anywhere between 10 to 20, so it's all a up to the roleplay.

don't know what version you play, but latest Elona+ makes living weapon bonuses rotate on a fixed schedule. So once you get a magic damage bonus for example, you'll have to rotate all the way back around, potentailly waiting up to 12 months, to see it again next time.

I'm sure he is playing on 1.7.1, based on his screenshots. Last time I leveled a living weapon I did the same thing: Reroll level up list with enchantments until I get the screen I want, then grind levels fast before the list changes again (usually at the end of the month, but I had some random changes before and I haven't figured out the pattern yet).
You can lower enchantment levels with acid damage, from an enemy or any vial of acid find in dungeons (you need to curse Acidproof to damage your enchantment, but normal acid can be used normally).

Ah yes, that is correct. You need a material kits for living weapons.
I haven't tested it yet (except for one accident), but I believe that changing the item's material removes any acid protection (even if it was added by an acidproof liquid, the part I haven't fully tested yet), but only if the new material isn't naturally acidproof.

Wrong. Unlike other intrinsics, if an item has had acid- or fireproof before it will carry over after changing its material.

See pic related for proof, a pair of paper gloves changed to dragonscale with change material scrolls to gain acid+fireproof, and then back to paper with an inferior material scroll. It kept fire+acidproof. Tested on E+1.71

this "fixed schedule" doesn't seem so fixed to me. or it has some fucked up logic that makes it especially exasperating. In February I got one living weapon, leveled it up and got nether, the next month I got nether, then sound, then nerve...it seemed like I would hit chaos and magic right after. Instead it went to darkness, mind, poison, nether. In october now.

At some point I picked up another living weapon (got them both cheap from merchants on the road), and while it started off with its own pattern, it synched up with my other living weapon and they both give the same options on level up.

I didn't know that enchanting it would move the list along or I wouldn't have already acid proofed it and made it +10. Might try that with another living weapon I found that I haven't done anything with yet.

The workings of the ''schedule'' were changed multiple times in recent updates, we really need somebody to go through the code and get to the bottom of it. The wiki article is already outdated. One thing I like is since 1.69 pets can also level living weapons. I have one on every pet in my party, they weapons are all gaining levels quickly. the living weapon level up list is fixed to one element of dmg/res, a few skill and stat buffs, and one potential invoke/extra property per list. Every time.

Min/maxers will want only the best kind of endgame enchantments, such as Magic Damage/Res, piercing attack, etc and will have no use for more common elemental dmg/res or useless skill/stat ups.
Considering enchanting weapons go up to +15 max (unless you waste a weapon level up on +4 enhancement) that's a limited amount of times you can try for a new level up menu if you're stuck with acidproof.

For example, If my ideal perfect living weapon was to deal nothing but magic damage and maybe have pierce and nothing else, and once I do get the first level of magic damage/pierce, i'll have to either wait for them to come back around, or enchant my weapons (if it isn't already +15) multiple times and hope it comes sooner rather than later.

I don't want to have to wait a month every goddamn time I want a new list of level ups.

So unless the living weapon spawns in a shitty enough material to not have intrinsic acidproof to deliberately dmg my weapon with acid to swap level up lists around, I'm shit out of luck once I hit max enchants. I've enchanted a living weapon several times already and all I keep getting are shitty invokes and nether/chaos/nerv element dmg/res options. Waiting several months yielded same results.

This happened once to me with my last living weapon. On the very first day of the month I enchanted/damaged my living weapon multiple times to get magic resist on it. Then I leveled it on a fairly slow pace, so it reached level 8 around the 11~18th day of the month. From levels 1 to 7 I had the magic on my list, but on level 8 it disappeared.
I thought it was just a bug, or maybe Ano is fucking with us with some wacky RNG.

I've taken a look at the code again. There are three things the selection depends on:

where inv(11,ci) is a number of sides on damage dice (for example, weapon with 9d3 damage will have inv(11,ci) of 3;

inv(20,ci) is an enchantment bonus,

and gdata(11) is number of current month.

The selection hasn't changed:

>First choice, Enchantment Bonus + 4, is always available.
>Second choice, the resistance, is determined by remainder from dividing the number by 11.
>Remainder of 0 means Fire Resistance will appear as choice, 1 - Cold Resistance, 2 - Lightning, 3 - Darkness, 4 - Mind, 5 - Poison, 6 - Nether, 7 - Sound, 8 - Nerve, 9 - Chaos, 10 - Magic.
>Third choice, the elemental damage, is essentially the same element as in second choice.
>Fourth choice, the stat increase, is determined by remainder from dividing the number by 10.
>Remainder of 0 means increase in STR, 1 - END, 2 - DEX, 3 - PER, 4 - LER, 5 - WIL, 6 - MAG, 7 - CHR, 8 - SPD, 9 - LUC.
>Fifth choice, the skill increase, is determined by the same number.

I don't have enough life for more body parts ;_;. Gonna have to look into carrying over little girls, getting an singular hero cheese, using them to dupe it, then getting more body parts. I got to 11 body parts without using them, but largely because I wanted neck (for asura), 2 arms (for acc; the necklaces are crap compared to gloves), back for vindale, leg for 7 leagues and a ring because I'm likely going to be mounted so I may as well use that one minus speed but otherwise really good ring. And those are all cheaper than arms.
Will need about 30 of them total to get enough life.
Surprisingly levelling isn't really an issue since you can unlevel yourself in a pinch, carry over expensive items to sell to get deeds and just have undead kill stuff for you. Steal gives exp, but very very little, even for a level 1 char.

A way to know for sure would be to enter combat with your party consisting of just you and your (evolved) goose and look at your money before and after it uses the skill.

Cheer can be taught through Custom AI and debuffs can be taught by spending AP on them.
Healing Rain can be taught to your pets but only if your spell level is 50 or more.
Some abilities not all pets can have are Sanity Rain (little witch and evolved nurse), Lay Hand, Absolute Protect (both defender).
If you're going to pick a pet with Absolute Protect be sure to teach it Cure of Jua since it's going to tank hammer strikes with its face.

So I have a couple questions about splitting allies. If they're taught abilities or get feats through AP will the freshly created version get them as well? Will the wet status interfere with splitting?

It seems inconvenient to say the least. You'd have to always be running away (possibly into danger) from your own pet and worrying about the blast radius. Although you could train one until he is strong enough to survive his own blast and maybe call him in to inflict massive damage to e.g. gods.

I was thinking a tag team with me riding another pet. Disable their special actions to prevent draw shadow from being used. After that just teleport out of the way whenever a new one appears and let them handle it.

Why I chose the cluster bomb rock was so I can quickly clear out the group of them once I leave the area and they become hostile. Damaging enemies is just a pleasant side effect.

I heard that the barrier feat makes it survivable at low levels. So long as the original doesn't detonate I can have a repeatedly exploding mass of minions.

Newfag here, I read all the instructions of installing Elona+ 1.71 and Elona+C 1.71 properly. Elona+ works without the custom but once I installed the custom, error happens.
This is what I did: I first install Elona+, then extract the Elona Custom in the Elona+ folder ,and then run ElonaC.exe instead of Elonaplus.exe. But this is what happens when I open it (and yes I tried running it as administrator). Any idea what went wrong?

This is what leveling a living weapon is like for Kai.

1) Got back from doing 50 floors of the void and have some stardust to use due to repeat precious weapons on void bosses. Do some crafting in my blacksmith shop as I'm going to sell everything that isn't a living lightsaber. Get living lightsaber and apply adamantium material kit and repair kit to maximize damage dice and get rid of speeding up ether disease. Apply cursed flying scrolls to increase its weight for higher crit damage.

2) Head back into the void to quickly level up the lightsaber. Once it's at 100% it's ready to level up

3) I look at the menu choice of what I can select for level up. Cold damage is nice but I'm aiming for magic damage. Escape out of the menu choosing not to level up the living weapon at this time and head to town.

4) At the blacksmith I harden the living lightsaber giving it a +1 bonus.

5) Go to level the living weapon. The menu has changed. Instead of offering cold damage it's now offering lightning damage. Still not what I'm looking for. Want magic damage so I escape out of the menu.

6) I talk to the blacksmith again and harden my living lightsaber to +2.

7) I check the leveling menu again and find it's now offering darkness damage. Still not what I want.

8) I end up stepping through the hardening process with the blacksmith checking the menu each time. In this case, I end up having to harden my weapon to +9 before I get the level up menu I want.

9) At +9 I get the menu I want with magic damage and choose it.

No idea what the damage potential of a mutant is but as normal human like creature with 13 slots MA is going to do more damage than any of the weapon skills and magic against single targets come endgame. However it doesn't do that enormous damage until you're really up in there in skill level. Martial arts damage dice begins really small and only increases as you level up the skill. It isn't until like skill level 250 that MA starts to pull ahead of other fighting styles. Meanwhile, weapon users are swapping out weapons with all sorts of enchants to up their damage quickly and magic users can transition to stronger spells. Due to this, I would only recommend an MA character only if you really see yourself playing the game for a long time. MA pays you back if you can hold out because the damage can be huge. Like was able to get 15 million damage off of one punch recently.

Having said that, it's not like the other damage types in the game are awful. They're all viable imo. I'm using two hand as well as MA and I'm having no problems killing things with two hand. Ditto with magic. I suspect dual wield to be alright as well but you can't really see dual wield at its best unless you're a mutant I think. If you go two hand you'll be doing good damage right out of the gates and you have an impressive selection of weapons you can look into. Various precious weapons and the ability to craft weapons as well. In my experience with two hand I've found it effective yet at the same time relatively easy to play. Mainly get the largest and heaviest thing you can swing and equip it. Later on you can further your damage by getting gear with additional attack chance and getting a weapon with magic damage or some sort of element on it.

It's almost scary how easy it is to change the looks of the game. Just need Gimp, Photoshop, or some decent image editing software and time. There are a lot of decent sprite and graphical mods in the mod pastebin that you can take advantage of though so you might want to look at that pastebin in OP. As an experiment I did look into whether or not you can change the character sheet backgrounds and yeah it looks like you can.

Took the jp sura concept art for RO seeing as how my Elona character is a martial artist and with a few edits made it my character sheet background. All I did in Gimp was colorify to make the image vanilla, played with the brightness setting so the image looked faded out, resized it, and exported as a bmp file. Turned out ok and I might actually keep it. Might need to clean it up or lighten it a bit but I'd say mission mostly successful.

For some reason, Forbidden Meat, blessed or not, won't change the fox brother's "Mob [number] Gender" value, it will only rename his gender (like a non-blessed forbidden meat). CDDA doesn't have balanced late game content. So yeah, there are hundreds of hours, and permadeath. But after first hundred you're already essentially immortal - since there won't be anyone who could kill your maxed character.

It's not about being good or bad. Hit chance depends on where weapon equipped, and when you're looking at weapons in inventory it goes crazy trying to determine order of hits. So, what you're see it's hit chance for N-th hand, which goes up with each redraw.

But yeah - that's certainly a bug. You shouldn't be able to see any numbers in that window, but sometimes it happens. I'll fix it.

Fighter's Guild is great for new characters (discounts, simple "kill stuff" quests, final reward is a very nice sword), but unfortunately it don't have exclusive features like the other two (sell stolen stuff at full price, shopkeeper that will sell spellbooks of your choice, etc).
After you get some decent cash from quests/ranks/shops and completed the guild's final quest (if you want the sword, for you or some pet), there is little to no reason to stay in this guild. Even if you aren't interested in thievery or wizardry, being able to reserve "utility spell" books like Identify and Return is a lot more useful than some discount on gear enchanting.

x. Get flying scroll from magic vendors (Rank 50~100). Stock up. Here are some options:

1.Curse scroll will curse items in your inventory at 'random'. Drop all item except the items you want curse. Hardly works, if you have Exorcist feats. Else be ready to burn 20 scroll of curse.

2. Cursed rod of uncurse. Same as above, work best when you're light and naked. Exorcist feats nullifies the curse though.

Just some mechanics and numbers.
Selling price is capped at 33%. To reach such price for miscellaneous items player need to have just 46 negotiations. And there is one more flat cap: 5000 + negotiations * 250 coins for any item.
To reach 33% selling price for equipment you need 1300 negotiations.

In shops selling price capped at 36%, and to reach that shopkeeper needs to have 213 negotiations. But he works same with any types of items.
Furthermore, specialized shop have additional bonus to prices, which applies after cap. Increasing effective selling price up to 43.2% in the best case.

In specialized shops chanses to sell certain items becomes ~2.5 times higher, with 20% bonus to price, while chances to sell other items becomes ~2 times lower, and with same prices like in universal store.
