Since Servants can be heroes drawn from any time, why aren't there modern Servants?

Barring even Modern World, what about New World heroes, like George Washington?

I want to see Rambo as an Archer. And Napoleon as a Saber.

The thing about heroic spirits is they have to have a level of mysticism about them. They become living (deceased) divine mysteries, and transcend humanity.

In our times, heroes are never looked at as anything more than human. Everything they do is explainable. Everything they use is mass-produced and mundane. None of their actions can defy things on a grand scale.

So no new heroes.

While modern weapons are powerful, those people who use modern weapons mainly are somewhat difficult to be put in the Heroic Spirit category. The greatest advantage of modern weapons is that "anyone can use them with the right training". But see, the thing behind that is that because of that, it's hard for them to become "one sole existence". These are what people call faceless heroes. If there is a hero that has on him modern weapons, what's going to be treated as the Heroic Spirit isn't the owner, an expert that anyone can become by training, but the "most excellent weapon of that era" itself. The weapon itself would have to have a soul however.

Well, as in servants in terms of slaves or whatever. I'd like to think that there are always the servant kind among human hierarchy. In the ancient times there was slavery and now there's sort of like underpaid worker and people in less fortunate countries. They are all part of same natural continuum. It's basically like as the human cultural evolution proceeds and society evolves the things become different but the the basic primal structure maintains itself. Kind of like in comparison to biological evolution, very different species develop similar qualities due the nature of events, even thought there can be millions of years in between of such events and no direct genetic link.

That is peculiar. If one assumes that the human sociological structures are all slightly varied takes on the same pattern, would it be safe to say that these servants are the culmination of it. The culmination of social evolution and thus the culminations of human psyche. The contradiction is that while human cultural evolution plunges onward at top speed the genetic evolution has profoundly stopped within the species. In modern days there are no really heroic figures but rather myth of those. Or could it be that the collective human culture actually unconsciously enforces some kind of genetic development. Thereby, it can only be the confirmed strongest physically.

GOD DAMN, YOU ARE HIGH.

>He is not really a god but a being like Cthulhu,

... No, he isn't! He's far, far, far, far, FAR beyond Cthulhu! Calling Nyarlathotep a Great Old One is just WRONG!

>anyhow. It is also pointed out that Cthulhu is way more powerful and hostile.

More powerful no. Hostile yes. Cthulhu was never described as truly powerful, even among Great Old Ones.

Yeah, but when you put it like physical power it makes it sound like it's limited to just melee.

Pure power encompasses everything.

Well, everything else is debatable except that Cthulhu is not powerful and that Shub is crap. I mean, seriously, Shubbie is weak and does not have any real capabilities, other than monstrous size and the tree children.

Nyarlathotep is probably on a par with Cthulhu in terms of power but he gets too much rep because every other being worships him.

Well it's just not confirmed.
It gave no mention of any form of ranged attack at all.
I mean, it would be fucking STUPID for it to lack one (I mean Type-Saturn was decked out with "guns"), but due to the fact that discussions can only work with confirmed material, it's a consequence to not throw it in.

Personally, I think it has some form of giant laser beams.

Nyarly is way above big C.
Nyarly has, beyond his lol-form-changing, the power to shift reality and the inability to die.
Cthulhu can be killed; it's just that Great Old Ones are still "alive" even when dead. Nyarly doesn't even get that; it's utterly impossible to get him to stop working.

Shubby... whatever. Shub is an Outer God, and it thereby is above Cthulhu.

Due to the fact that its "skin" is sharp, we can assume it can at least rush you and you get cut.

Uh huh, it didn't give any mention of any melee attack at all, but that's being treated like a fact and the only thing that guy can do other than Crystal Valley.

You don't call something like that the most powerful being on Earth by pure power unless it can do more than that.

Just treat it like the most powerful thing in destructive power. Any further discussion on specifics is stupid.

>> No.1763089

If ORT didn't have any ranged attacks, I don't think people would have that much trouble with it. Just dump lots of nukes on it. It can't attack you right?

>Uh huh, it didn't give any mention of any melee attack at all, but that's being treated like a fact and the only thing that guy can do other than Crystal Valley.

It can move, right?
Then it can melee.
A body rush is a melee attack.
A TAP is a melee attack.
If it can even move at all, it can manage a melee attack.

And since it didn't list any other method of attack...

>You don't call something like that the most powerful being on Earth by pure power unless it can do more than that.

Sure you can.

Nobody knows how fast it moves.

Also, nukes probably wouldn't stop it.

And its UFO mode can almost certainly fly.

And again, we just don't KNOW if it has ranged.

I would THINK it does, since Type-Saturn was chock full of LASER RAIN.

What are you nuts? It's supposed to have enough power to singlehandedly erradicate everybody on the planet. If you're just invulnerable and only have melee attacks and just 40 meters big, you're not going to be able to do that.
Hell, even big Avenger can't outdo this guy in speed.

Oh yes you can.

Nothing can hide from you, to be sure.
No armor could withstand your melee attacks, no buildings, nothing.
And who knows how fast ORT is? If it could move at, say, interstellar speeds with its UFO mode, it could destroy Earth with 1 pass through.

Yeah, sure it could be superfast. But if you put it like that, it could also have ranged weapons.

And honestly, it makes more sense for it to have ranged weapons than be super fast.

It's supposed to be the sort of monster that Ultraman fights. Watch an episode and see what kind of damage those monsters dish out.

It digs through and annihilates the mountains and land itself to make sure you are dead.

>Yeah, sure it could be superfast. But if you put it like that, it could also have ranged weapons.

I was just saying that because it's implicated that a UFO mode would be used for interstellar travel. And interstellar travel would have to be absurdly fast. Unless it drifts, which it may.

Besides, who says it NEEDS ranged weapons? It could be so damned fast that it can clear any distance in an instant.
Both are equally baseless.

Does it matter whether it shoots things or rushes them? It can kill everything, regardless of its methods.
