Yeah I know I started the VN back when my Japanese wasn't very good(2-3 years ago) and the all ages version was the only one with a patch although partial. I stopped at the Brighter than dawning blue route(Feena route continuation unlocked after all other routes completed) which was the only route not translated.

Now I have come back to it and I'm half way through the route. vndb makes moonlight cradle seem like a sequel to it and it is tagged as a sequel.

Going to second LxC2 - Hime is arguably the best written Cation girl ever, and the others heroines are also pretty cute. Personally I'm a Hina-chan fan. (see pic)

I'm also a fan of PxC2, but almost entirely because of Chitose-sensei and Azusa the token loli. Yahiro Mami's voice is music to my ears and Chitose had some incredibly hot H scenes. Suzuka is a cheap knockoff of Hime and Honami is cute but that's it.

It happens every now and then. Look at SukiSuki, where the loli onee-chan Maya ranked 1st in the polls and she was also a side chara like Shizuka.

I completely agree with you about how much more likable Shizuka is than say, Sasa. Although I don't mind so much that she's unattainable, sometimes that is for the better.

Pretty much this. The game literally threw errors in some parts on release so they put out a 1.01 patch to fix it, and even with that it was filled with typos and lines where the voice doesn't match the text. And even ignoring those mistakes the quality of writing was clearly worse than Ramune. While having E-mote was nice they didn't have much variation in sprites or costumes, nor did they have any characters outside of the 3 heroines. The H-scenes were mostly very vanilla with not a lot of experimental stuff, and the non-H scenes were basically non-existent. I was highly disappointed, especially after how much I loved Ramune.

Yuuna was actually my favorite character, primarily because of her design + voice. Her seiyuu sounded nervous and awkward, and while normally I might not like that it in a VN it makes perfect sense that a 13/14 year old girl would speak that way. And the whole kekkon+aka-chan business was really sweet in this route. Also she rides the MC a lot and that's my favorite position. The only thing I didn't like about Yuuna was that her 'orgasm scream/moan' didn't sound that good, but her normal sex moans sounded just fine.

Mio was definitely a close 2nd though. Her initial timidness and innocence before become a full blown nympho after masturbating was strangely erotic. And unlike the other girls, she was very perceptive, being the first person to notice if the MC starts "dating" one of the other heroines. I remember there's one scene later in the Yuuna route where they decide to tell the two sisters about the pregnancy and Mio basically guesses that while Rio was like 'wait you guys are dating? marriage??? a baby?!?!? As for Rio, I liked her voice but her tsundere template turned me off. She's basically Kirino lite in terms of being a spoilt little shit. Good H scenes.

I don't think it's really even comparable to Gusha no Kyouben, one's a loli nukige you play for porn scenes and one's a loli charage you play for romance, solving the heroines' family/social problems and fun SoL with a group of close-knit friends. They're completely different games that just happen to both have loli heroines.

A better comparison would be something like Tsuushinbo since it's more of a nukige, and in this case Onii-chan Daisuki loses heavily since it has much worse writing, presentation and music.

finished 閉じたセカイのトリコロニー and what a ride, came in expecting a dumb moege and walked away with something completely different. the bulk of the game is mostly nice simple fun and the girls are all pretty likeable but the genre shift near the end really wraps it all up nicely. every time i thought i understood the situation or had a concrete impression of the girls the game threw a new fact at me that totally changed my outlook. yuuki for example was my least favorite heroine but her first route really helped to flesh her out and every new detail i learned about her made me like her that much more, she still ended up being last place for me but only because the other girls were so good. in the end i really enjoyed most of the game and although there were some definite flaws i'd still highly recommend it

Just started 星降る夜のファルネーゼ trial. The Phoenix Wright description of this game made me want to give this one a try at least. I don't think I'm halfway yet and I'm still at the witnesses' testimony. It's very Phoenix Wright in a sense that you're a defense attorney, you got your investigations before a trial which was at the beginning of the game though it boils down to clicking a set preset of boxed areas, your inventory in which you can view evidences and characters etc, and you usually just answer one from two choices to press forward the court battle. I'll continue playing this tomorrow.

The production and presentation feels cheap and feels more doujin-like for a full priced game but I guess that's not really a bad thing.

I personally loved the game, it's my favourite eroge and Aya is my favourite girl, it's just her ending is rage inducing.
She's like the best swordwomen and she fights these two guys at the end of her route, she doesn't swing her sword once and just dies. I mean I get if she was overpowered but there was no swinging animation or anything she just gets cut down. my theory (it's not a particularly novel or uncommon one) is that just having a route ruins like 90% of heroines. the more fun a girl she is, the dumber her drama has to be in order to make up the contractually obligated 40% of the route where she is depressed, uncommunicative, or otherwise the exact opposite of the girl she was going into the route. due to the prevalence of bad writing and cheap tragedy ex machinas, character development ends up being a bad thing. side characters can remain untouched by this.

i swear the nipponjin thought up one day that fictional characters could be the opposite on the inside of what they appear to be on the outside, and they've never let that trope go for an instant ever since. it is the pillar around which all lazy storytelling revolves. the loli is actually super strong. the buff muscly dude is actually a big softie inside. demons are nice and angels are the evil ones. bright and cheery girls are all hiding darkness inside.

that is the exact feeling I get, well put. you can do nothing but sit there helplessly as everyone makes the stupidest choices imaginable. like the cliche about yelling at protagonists in horror movies when they split up the party or go investigate the strange noises. which i guess is pretty similar since both have to rely on everyone being stupid in order to hit all the notes required for the genre.

Done with Muramasa's final route and Janen-hen, taking about 60 hours.
Let's talk about Maou-hen and Akki-hen.

Maou-hen was fun to read with Kageaki and Chachamaru's shenanigans, but as a route I didn't really find it satisfying, mostly due to how short and inconclusive it was, although I suppose Narahara didn't have much to say since it was pretty straight-forward following Kageaki's choice. It's criminal how he handled that Raichou's scene though. This route also cemented just how much better Rokuhara is compared to GHQ.

Things got fucking crazy in Akki-hen, from tsurugi godzilla to doing sudoku in space to string theory dimensional drift. Usually I can somewhat accept the technomagic babbles when it comes to the tsurugi but I couldn't help but laugh during those scenes.
However, the final scene between Kageaki and Hikaru made everything worth it. It's been a while since I was so emotionally affected by an eroge, especially when Muramasa's curse kicked in. Like Hikaru said: 愛は、あった！

Overall I would give Muramasa a perfect score. I think as a game it has a clear message (whether you agree with it or not is a different matter) and set out to portray it with style . The only weak part is the music, but the insert songs and especially their timing in the game made up for it. I hope we could see another title on this scale at some point in the near future.

As for Janen-hen, the only reason to play this is for the movie. The rest of the stories are either boring or just plain confusing since Kageaki's actions in this game directly contradicted the original message. I would consider this as an omake rather than a sequel.

So, um, what's the deal with the baby diaper reference in this scene (see pic). Is that just a metaphor or something for Ushio's panties or what he did with the towel? Still, describing it the way he did was strange.

nodoka left such a strong impression early on for so many reasons it was just hard to top and with the later revelations i couldn't think of anyone that deserved happiness more. one thing that bugged me for the longest time was how she said she used to be shy and introverted even though that never seemed to be the case, i was really happy when we finally got to see it in a flashback and again in her ending though it was sad the other 3 girls ceased to exist in it. for that matter i feel bad for ever having thought she was denpa

inori really grew on me over time but by the end she was almost on par with nodoka, and her ending is also arguably the closest thing to a happy end in this game

korone was an endearing mess and i liked how her character unfolded. i remember her first hscene how she tried to seduce MC and once it looked like he wasn't going to go along she became increasingly desperate from "i love you please go out with me" to "p-please, even if it's only this once...", it was one of my favorite scenes before the ending kicked in

and i honestly didn't like anything about yuuki at first, from her being a genki kouhai to character design and tan, even the coach incident being part of her routes. that said she was an effective last piece to the puzzle. her just being an ordinary girl who got swept up in this mess like MC and her also feeling the weight of the love from the other girls really made her a nice character


and yeah i got the true end, probably tied with nodokas end for me. i also tried to listen to the drama cd but i always hate them and gave up a few minutes in, i don't think i could stand 40 minutes of it

I personally really loved pretty much all the normal scenes' tracks. It's the handful of battle and action BGM that are shoddy in comparison. The final battle not having an unique track is also absolutely criminal for this type of game.

And yes, some parts leading up to the final battle were extremely silly. I liked Konjin as plot device explaining the origin of Tsurugi but its actual appearance and all the subsequent battles were pretty much like a one big retarded parody.

He's quite good at character-based drama. Sets up the situation and the characters very well, always has characters with a decent amount depth and understandable motives, such that when bad things inevitably go down you get more of a "oh no this is terrible" reaction than a "aw christ you fuckin' idiots" one. Does male MCs particularly well, they're likeable, flawed, get loads of character development, and hit the sweet spot where they're just enough of a sad sack that you really want to see things go well for them. Girls are usually real likeable too, due to having a nice balance of realistic traits and typical ~anime~ ones.

In terms of themes he's really only got a handful, but they're quite well executed. Expect a lot related to tearing down the usual harem situation, he knows perfectly well only one girl will win and everyone else will lose and will milk that for everything it's worth. He's also quite good at inscrutable antagonists, Unmei Yohou and Istoria have excellent "bad" guys.

Downsides are a shitton of typos for unexplainable reasons, not a lot of variety in themes (though Istoria broke a lot of new ground for him), later games are way longer than they maybe should be, and he's physically incapable of ending a scene without some sort of dramatic stinger like BUT THAT WOULD BE THE LAST TIME WE EVER MET AS FRIENDS, DUN DUN DUUUUNNN.

I'd recommend starting with Unmei Yohou because I am an unwavering fanboy of it despite its rough edges, but if it's too old or you're bored by the school setting then Istoria is probably a better choice.

do note that all these opinions are biased as fuck. his stuff is still a good read, though. just very definitely not perfect.

The game had potential. But the author really wrote it against a wall at some point. Probably because he figured "rule of cool" is better than anything else. Really, it's pretty ridiculous to write a story that's basically about accepting reality and and at the end only close some books, but make it totally okay and not problematic to still have the Rio and Protag books open. I know I know, dead protag sucks in eroge, but if you kill your protag AND have this theme, you gotta follow through. Could've easily done so as well, with the two surviving girls doing their club together and learning from all the bullshit, going towards the future together to prevent something like this happening again. But nope.
What makes this even worse is that this while "protag died" thing created more double standards. When the sister killed herself it closed the book she was part of, but the protag's book with Kanata didn't when he died? What?


Yeah, I dunno. It could've been really good. But something went really wrong, if you ask me. It's always awkward if the main point of a story kinda falls apart.

It's just hard to do in sprite form because the only sprites on screen are typically female. Without showing off the full body of a sprite it is pretty hard to get a feel for how large or petite they are. Now in CGs you can usually show it off a little better, like >>17596010 shows.

I just finished the trial. So instead of presenting evidence, you're down to two choices. I haven't reached a game over but I assume it will be if you made too many wrong choices and your client gets stripped naked. The game revolves around the courtroom choosing the right answer between those two choices until you get the suspect to strip naked and then find the constellation marks on her body. No need to present evidences (but the evidences are there in the menu for you to look at anytime in case you forgot something or didn't bother reading through the investigations).

Even the investigation is similar to the Ace Attorney games but it's pretty much just glorified clicking on set boxes in the screen so no need to think deep.

Overall, I'd say I enjoyed it because I came in with low expectations. The mystery/logic/whatever isn't that all hard to follow but I assume it will get harder at later chapters. I'd probably play this after finishing Omokage Railback that gets released this month. I want to fug the blonde knight grill.

Do yourself a favor and don't play hard though. The game just ends up being annoying, if they didn't change anything. Enemies level with you and become HP sponges and the later map designs don't help either, where you are pretty much only doing door combat in front of giant rooms. Someone thought an s-rpg works really well if your max movement is one fucking tile per turn in an "enemy" area. Good dammit Eushully. That's not how fucking s-rpgs work.

Some companies lately are just dropping the token DFC altogether. Look at Wagamama for an example of nothing but cowtits.

Then you have companies like tone work's who put out Hoshi Ori 3 yrs ago, where almost every heroine has their own unique cup size. Then last year they release Ginharu which has 80% E+ cup ratio with one token dfc. (see pic)

I didn't mind cowtits so much when it used to be that only one or maybe two heroines had them, but now it really has gotten out of hand.

That's not even that big, honestly, with quite a bit of varying sizes. The designs put a focus on the chests, but if you look at their actual size... nah. That's pretty medium, by today's standards. Fia here pretty much beats them all, and even she is only "pretty big". The true cowtits out there still laugh at Fia. And I mean "normal eroge cowtits". But that should be obvious. In nukige true cowtits start at when one tit is as big as half of the body.

Less to do with the pose and more to do with how they're drawn, the breasts in Wagamama look comically bad. In Lewd Elves' they can get even more ridiculously sized, but unlike Wagamama there's a slope to the breast shape which takes into account (some) manner of physics and natural boob anatomy. In Wagamama they didn't even try, really - the boobs are just circles for the most part, and they look pretty much exactly the same clothed/unclothed.

Speaking of anatomy, pregnancy is drawn very poorly more often than not imo, looking more like a giant cyclop boob because they insist on drawing it only as a full term. I think I've only seen a ~3-6 month pregnant belly depicted in sprites once or twice. (Hara Kano iirc)
