HCB is just the reverse
22 is Down+Down Buttan

If you can't figure it out from here, don't ever try playing another fightan game, as they have much harder combinations for moves.

I've just upgraded from playing the original MB. I'm certainly not new to fighting games, with my expertise being in Guilty Gear (Awesome Tier). I heard MB was similar, and so I thought I'd give it a shot. I just can't quite get a hold of those long-ass air combos, though, which is why I was doing a lot of Ciel's 2CC attacks to attempt to launch you into the air, trying to practice.

Also, if you noticed I ended up throwing the Black Keys and using Ciel's Specials a lot, it usually happened by means of my controller being a bit too sensitive. Fun games, though.

Noob question. Under what circumstances can you do that thing where lightning strikes your character and the opponent gets knocked back as though you had activated Heat/Blood Heat, how do you do it, and is it any different mechanics-wise from heat activation (outside of not getting the health regen)?

Same way you get good at anything, research and practice. Mostly the latter, but a little of the former can be worth several hours of practice if you learn the right things. Read the Melty Bread forums, practice combos in Practice Mode, keep playing against people. I won't comment on the use of a keyboard and whether or not you can get good with it as I'm still terrible at the Meltan and I happen to use a keyboard too... Speaking of which, anyone know an okayish, cheap, USB arcade stick? I'd like to try out a stick without making a significant purchase.

Akiha has a great (situational) arc drive. There's actually a "safe way" to block the arc drive rather than get grabbed, but it's character-dependent (on melty bread forums). Otherwise, just jump on wakeup and you'll get the air block rather than get grabbed.

It looks like you w.len execution is pretty good, so you just need to get more pokes than 2b and some blockstrings. Also, IKIMASUWA on wakeup/in blockstrings.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to keep that in mind. Yeah, there's a number of things I need to work on with her. Unfortunately, the only other poke she really has is 5b and there are no combos out of it, so what I've been trying to learn is how to evade and confuse the opponent with her invincible cross-up/no cross-up dashes. It's really satisfying to dash right through one of Ciel's keys and hit her with a 4k combo.
