you assign a party member to breed

at max pop you can remove breeder and free up the party slot if all you want are eggs and milk, if you want meat you need a breeder
each baby has its two traits (positive or negative) that you can view when rubbing with a brush in your inventory. Traits can modify how fast it makes milk or eggs, meat +enhancement or quantity, skin +enhance or quantity
So if you want to mass produce meat you find a baby with "you just might be able to get more meat, furthermore looks plump with decent meat" (in either order), recruit it with dominate (give it a name so you don't mix it up with its parent), assign it as breeder and cull all its siblings (and abandon the original breeder to free up a party slot). Now its offspring will inherit (or are more likely to, not sure) the good meat traits, maximizing meat production.
If you want milk or eggs, you can just cull any offspring lacking the "adept at producing milk/laying eggs" until all the offspring have it, and again releasing the breeder to free up a party slot. This means you can recruit a baby with good milk or egg traits, take it from one ranch to another and fill as many ranches as you want with offspring. (and release it when you're satisfied)
Livestock won't spontaneously drop dead like plants, and no worrying about seeds. Ranching had a steeper initial time investment if you want to maximize the gains from it, but is much more set it and forget it than farming. Putits, sheep, chickens and cows all have high breed power. Kai did some testing and found the weight of an animal at time of slaughter modifies sale price of meat, so sheep are probably optimal if you want to run a restaurant because they sell for almost as much as beef but breed faster. I have no info for optimal egg or milk output, so just go with whatever had the most breed power.
Sometimes I see bones on my ranch, but I don't think any animals are dying, it's just a junk item that gets produced.

Is there any way to force trigger a lucky day? I've been waiting for one for almost an entire game year now. I'm even worshiping Yacatect at almost 5k favor for maximum profit.

Guys, i tried installing Elona C, but it totally broke the game. When i try to change options on my main, it gets stuck on an option to choose language screen instantly, and in game, when i press esc, it also stays stuck and options screen and i can't select anything. Versions should match to avoid problems. Like Elona+ 1.70 and Custom 1.70.1. Just drop all the things in the Custom folder into the base game directory and overwrite if necessary. Launch the game with ElonaC. See if the game runs well with just that and don't try to mod anything in until it runs well as is.

Are there any good solo builds? I'm thinking about getting back into this game but last time I played I was turned off by how the player character is completely outclassed by high speed pets.

Holyshit. When I started up Elona I suddenly got a pop-up that was written in Japanese "Onichyan?" I can read moonruneswith a Yes or No question. When I clicked yes it simply showed a ASCII picture of the little sister mansion background girl with "Onichan" chat bubble.

What does it mean? Of course I didn't take any screenshots because I'm dumb.

You can use material kits on it.
Most people go either full magic damage or full magic resist until level 10 (11 and above may trigger bloodsucking trait as a "bonus"), depending of your interest on the weapon (are you a gun user?).
Other elements, like lightning damage, may do better damage if you apply all the important debuffs (wet and element scar, for example).

Follow the tried and true method. Spend forty hours in the Void slapping bigger and bigger shit. Martial Arts are theoretically the highest hitting damage in the game, not that it matter at 2000 strength.

Why savescum? Or go past living weapon Lv10 for that matter? You can +enchant or wait a while to get the exact choices you want. The answer to what to go for of course depends on your character. Pistols are not that great but you can make it work if you really want to. You can also get those resists with artifact fusion.

Can't savescum living weapons anymore. The upgrade list have a fixed order that only changes on the first day of every month, or after every enchantment.
The best you can do is wait for the first day of a month, and use acid damage to break the weapon and enchant it again, repeating this "break'n'fix" process until you get the list you want, then grind until you get the level you want before the month ends.

2. You can use an armor action to give all pets with the appropriate equipment weight the buff, even if you don't have the right equipment weight for it. You won't get the buff, but they will.

Unlike AP stuff, pets won't use skills learned from the Custom AI menu if you don't use actually the Custom AI to tell them to spam it.

Only outside of combat (it will follow you naturally). As soon as your pet spots an enemy, he/she will check his/her custom AI parameter and possibly do nothing if he/she hits a "wall" in his orders (for example, if you put "target distance = 1 : attack melee" and nothing else, the pet will stand still and do nothing until an enemy enter his/her melee range).
Because of this, you need to also set up his movement. So, using the example above, add a "target distance != 1 : move forward" on top of "target distance=1 => attack melee" so it will go after the target and stab it to death.

Pets grow at an incredibly fast rate, and you can take pretty much any creature be it a snail or girl or putit and raise it to be a cosmic god slayer. The further along you are, the easier it is to train a pet quickly. However every pet takes quite a lot of investment in getting them skills, managing their equipment, growths, and taking them along so they can actually train. Yes you can still solo the game if you'd like. The pet suggestions are just suggestions, in the end it's really up to you. Any weak creature can become swole if you raise it with loving care, and some can even evolve (check list on wiki)

Yes, there is even a feat that will increase your speed while soloing. they just make your life easier, and it's nice to have something cute following you around in dungeons (or in your bed).

When you feel like leveling one, I guess. It's easier to train pets than your own character since they have stupid fast growth rates and other features (no need for platinum coins since they just use gold, fixed 95% spell casting chance with any equip weight that can hit 100% with Warmage class, no individual spell levels since every spell they know is based on Casting level only, exclusive stuff like Megid Flame in your fire dragon's case, their death will hurt your heart but not your wallet or their inventory, etc).

If you don't mind that 5%, Priest's passiveis a good alternative for healers pets (spells like healing rain will heal +25% more).
Thief's passive (100% crit on enemies that haven't noticed the attacker yet) can work for melee pets with decent stealth skill and shadow step to jump in before the target notice them.
I don't know much about extra attack and crit chance calculations, so I don't know how much that 5% extra attack from Warrior and Gunner's passives and that 10% crit from Predator's passive will help in your calculations, but it's an valid option for melee classes since you don't expect them do do much other than stabbing things to death.

Pets are useful assistants but no they're not needed. I have never felt that I actually needed a pet to kill anything in the game, gods or otherwise, but a properly trained and geared pet can help you do things faster. Such as clear dungeons faster and farm for materials. They also can help maintain attribute potentials and sometimes they'll craft useful equipment. At the very least, if it's not useful you can always sell it.

It's never too late to start looking into getting pets and raising them to become helpful assistants. As for best time, there are pros and cons to when you start but the end result is the same regardless so start whenever if you're interested.

The way I see it, you're either an early pet adopter or you're a later pet adopter. The merits to raising a pet very early on is that they'll grow alongside your character and you can start taking advantage of breakfast for maintaining attribute potential, an additional source of materials, and a source of free equipment to use or sell. The problem with being a pet owner very early is that resources are probably going to be stretched thin. Early on, it's not easy to make gold and it might be rough affording pet trainer fees along with whatever expenses you may have. It can also be a challenge to outfit both you and your pets in gear that will keep them alive. Also, due to the growth pacing of pets they may overshadow you if you don't rein them in.

Later pet adopters have the advantage that they probably have a good source of income already and are further along into the game that they have resources to get or craft good gear for their pets and themselves. They may also have access to herb farms or at least quality food to raise pet attributes quickly. The problem with being a later pet adopter is that your pet is most likely to be significantly weaker than your character and training them in dungeons you normally go to might be a challenge. You may need to tag with them or come down to their level and do lower level dungeons until they grow strong enough to hang out with you in higher level dungeons. I've addressed ways to make pets stronger in my guide so that should apply here.

So regardless of when you choose to pick up a pet, there will always be challenges to overcome they just might be different. Those challenges can be overcome regardless of when you start so just stick with it. I personally didn't start raising pets until sometime near the end of Act 2 and the beginning of Act 3 so I'm a member of the later pet adopters.

The pets I suggested in my guide will be fine even in late game. While pets with bitflags or unique special actions can be very nice to have, they're not necessary. Any pet, even the most basic, can be made to tackle any content the game throws at you. I took a lv 5 Elea Warrior slave girl from Derphy and made her into one of the strongest characters in my game. She can kill cap level, cap skill, and cap resist enemies all by herself.

Try not to overthink things with pets. Just go with what you like if you feel overwhelmed. To be honest, after having raised at least 8 pets if I count my current and past character, I've probably spent more time worrying about getting portraits, sprites, and full body portraits than I did ever worrying about unique special actions, bitflags, and pet mechanics. Mainly because after I raised my first pet I knew enough about how to raise them that I was confident that I could turn any pet into something powerful.

Attribute training isn't a flat attribute gain like Rabbit Tail or Hermes Blood, it's really just training, like any other action related to that attribute. Like skills, when you get enough "EXP" on a specific attribute you will get a +1 on it.
The thing about food with herbs is that they give a large amount of training on all attributes (speed included, but not luck), plus the natural training from the food itself, and you can share it with your pet if the food item of choice is a cooked item of rank 5 or above (you will often see your pet gaining tons of attributes, eating it alone or with you).

The "why" would be AP gains (since you can only get AP from enemies faster than one's speed INI) and reduced training costs.
You would get speed up again by spending AP, though the max speed from AP during Act 2 is 500, but you'd lose so much speed from resetting it may not be worth it.

You could go full nether element with a living weapon with nether damage, nightmare debuff, all other nether spells for more DARKNESS, and necromancy as a bonus. And Drain Blood to suck your wife's blood and recover stamina while doing daily things like cooking (but I guess everyone does that, so I guess this is more about power of love and less about "dark lording").
As for tips, don't worry too much about making mistakes, you can do Anything™ and even change your class later (race can't be changed, but you can do a "new game plus" and bring some of your old stuff to a new character). Read the pastebin and, while reading the wiki, remember to look for "Elona+ Changes" or similar in the articles, since the wiki is based on the vanilla Elona (if you don't find it, then probably that piece of information haven't changed much in Elona+).

I'm already at that point, but I don't think it's too bad. To be fair I started at 100 life and am at 137 now, just do dungeons all the time for various reasons like training pets and gathering medals, but always have little balls with me.

For default portraits, I mixed tons of different but still slightly similar artstyles I found on the mod pastebin's packs (like tieba and chinese anon's packs). My pets' portraits are based on their full-body portraits, so it's all good'n'old copyright infringement content from visual novels.
I still listen to Elona's default soundtrack, I don't like how MP3 files kill the sound effects, so I can't find good alternatives.

Dungeon danger levels are influenced by the highest level dungeon you cleared. You can track highest level dungeon cleared using your journal. If you don't see it in your journal try going to options, game settings, and changing record to show max. Dungeons spawned will generally be around that level with a few outliers of really high or low levels. If for some reason you challenged a dungeon beyond what you should have you can always check out the Oblivion Palace in South Tyris to place your dungeons at a more reasonable level.

Rogue boss scales and they show up more based on if you have cargo and fame. One of the changelogs says that as you level up your encounter chance for them decreases actually. Explains why I haven't seen them in forever myself while early on they love to bully people.

Job board quests are largely based on your fame.

Lv 4,451 in the void so far. Void monster level cap is 6,666. Doing awakened dungeons monster cap is 6,666 with one exception. The dungeon boss can be lv 6,666 - lv 8,332. Lv 8,332 seems to be the max lv monster I could find. Doing Lv 7,000ish - lv 8,500ish awakened dungeons had bosses that were exactly 8,332 leading me to believe that's the highest they will ever go. I can probably check off one of my goals. Have Kai become the strongest thing in existence in my Elona game. There is nothing in the game now that can challenge my character as long as I'm paying attention. Only thing left for me to do now is reach lv 6,666 of the void to see if there is anything special about it.

The source.hsp code for Continuous Attacks (skill 697) is on line 257252 (under "if ( _switch_val == 697 | _switch_sw ) {"). Basically, gdata(193) is temporarily set to 1200, and then act_melee is called 17 times.
Part of the dmghp function (line 158764) checks gdata(193); when it's set to 1200, damage is set to damage/6+1.

TL;DR: Continuous Attacks will do 17 melee hits, all of which will do 1/6 normal damage.

I just realized; the line numbers are probably different between versions, and I'm still on 1.69, so they aren't that useful. The "1/6 damage" text is "dmg@m149 = dmg@m149 * 1 / 6 + 1".
