To be fair RED does not have a "no sharing" policy, so you're allowed to leak if you want.

For sows certain albums are marked exclusive, and for toast all self-rips are "do not share" unless specifically allowed by default.

You basically have to "study" some stuff in order to pass a job interview in the hope you might be or not accepted to download some weeb music that won't even net you an efficient ratio so you'll have to burrow around to try to net that one popular thing very early in order to make up for all the things you have downloaded so far.

I'd rather pay for physical copies.

>> No.17587396

>> No.17587402

Hosting non-selfrips will not get you "Love" points, which are only awarded for self-rips or self-purchases (from digital stores) done within a certain period after an event/release. It'll give you other points though, which is fine for some uploads, but most uploads will have at least a 1 Love restriction, unless the uploader is a troll who sets 99 Love restrictions (ahem, I know you're in this thread).

No leeches allowed, the system is setup that way for a reason. People have to actually buy stuff from artists to get anywhere, which is probably for the better.

Naturally if you don't want to actually buy anything you can just study for the RED interview and leech shit for free (or, as you mentioned, seed other people's uploads - it's a torrent tracker, after all) for ratio, but you miss out on the super sekrit chink club only uploads.

>> No.17587412

>>17587382
It isn't too bad. You can potentially get a shitload of points for uploading just a single new, popular album and putting a modest purchase cost on it. You could also buy some multi-disc albums and swim in points through their large filesizes.

Also if I'm remembering right, you don't absolutely have to post selfrips. You just get extra points for it.

If you think you can get by with just seeding, you're in for a rude awakening. It's set up to encourage (force) people to contribute new content. The only difference is that there's no rule about contributing only recent content (like on astost).

It's not really an insult, it's just more you shouldn't bring the attitude and general posting style you would use elsewhere to here when it stands out so much. One should familiarize himself with the local culture and act accordingly when visiting, you know? That's what you would expect of tourists visiting real life places.

This is off topic though and bickering won't get any of us anywhere. Let's just take it easy.

This is going to sound retarded but where exactly does one start getting into, well, basically everything Comiket has to offer? Doujins and the sorts aside, I know many people who don't know a lick of Japanese who know who's releasing what or just what to look for in general. I've been listening to what's supposedly the top rated stuff from C92 on dojin.co but it's all very hit or miss. I dig the Touhou music but even without delving too deep, I can't imagine there being that much to it. Maybe I don't have an ear for music but a lot of it gets samey, though the variety of other music is interesting too. I just don't know where to begin with any of it though, it's just such a monumental task to breach into this sort of thing with no prior experience. Where do I get started really?

>> No.17590649

>>17590636
you don't just jump into doujins because it's something all the cool kids do, you have to already know what you specifically want (genre, style, arrange) or at least a few artists/circles you like.

It's like those people who post on /jp/ a week before the event "hey i'm in japan i guess i can go to comiket what should i get"

That's not how it works.

>> No.17590670

>>17590649
Well, I don't really care what the "cool kids" are doing nor is it because Comiket just happened. I'm asking how to get started as a whole. Do you mean knowing the artists and their works outside of Comiket? A lot of these artists seem to release their stuff specifically only at Comiket so how would you have a few artists/circles you like if you've never taken a stab at it before?

>> No.17590758

Do you know what "doujin" means in japanese? If not you should look it up.
In the end it comes down to the fact that the people who make these albums generally aim them at themselves, in other words, they make shit they enjoy for the sake of enjoying what they made. They realize others that are like them may also want there stuff and sell it.
The thing we can conclude from all this is that every artist has a very specific style of music. All the albums will have a very similar and possibly unique sound to it. Examples: "DDBY" all have very soft sounding 'lounge' like albums, The "active NEETs" albums are all mostly high quality orchestral arangements, "FELT" albums are a mix of electronic and pop.
The answer to your question of where to get started is at any album of any artist you like. Proceed to look up other albums of that artist you like and from there on out you can look for recommendations of said artist or look for a completely new one.
Try searching for nothing on dojin.co (so click search and then search again without typing anything), all results are automatically sorted by the amount of favorites it has, meaning that all the popular stuff will be at the top. Most stuff you will either really like or really hate. Just keep checking out different artists and trying out their shit, that's all there is to it.

Basically anything wanting to sound "professional". One odd result of the loudness wars is that people are so much exposed to music with overcompressed dynamic range all their life they deem masters with more natural mix as "weird" and "unprofessional". Think the sound of raw midi or tracked music, and sometimes live performance bootlegs - those are often left with dynamic range untouched.

tl;dr: Compression has its time and place, eg sidechained pumpy beats, but smearing it blank all over master output is just the ever-present cancer we've merely grown accustomed to.

Reposting private rips only makes the uploaders go deeper into isolation - to places where publicly resharing them means a permanent ban. There will be fewer and fewer uploads of the non-mainstream stuff if this self-entitled disregarding of established policy continues. Buyers are a scarce resource in the doujin "community." Tried it a few times the archive was corrupted, good news is it came with both WAV and FLAC rips and the FLAC's were perfectly fine.

Retagged everything and the rip seems to check out as a proper rip at first glance but with no log it could mean anything.

Lurking on the internet and trying chink links that look relevant can net you good results. At least more than you could ever get on /jp/ with the mentality of people around recently.

That reminds me I have the 4th album on lossless WAV but the cue file is incorrect and I cannot split it.

>> No.17712372

I mean most I've come across usually those private shekelpass forums which hide all the download links which I'm not sure how they work. The places I used to check for no fuss lossless stuff seem to be uploading less in favour of those with paywalls.

I'd re-mirror some of the ones I've found on Baidu but they often don't even include a log so I can only make a educated guess and it just feels like bad form to re-mirror non-self rips unless someone specifically asks.

>That reminds me I have the 4th album on lossless WAV but the cue file is incorrect and I cannot split it.
By the 4th album do you mean the IN cover?

I think I came across the same rip long ago as you did and fixed it up already, if you want that too I can throw it up as well.

>At least more than you could ever get on /jp/ with the mentality of people around recently.
Well at the very least I agree that the amount of lossless rips this event has practically halved compared to last Comiket. But I don't know if that is a indicator of doujin sharing shrinking or if people are simply moving into closed circles.

What I do know is when I self rip I try release them openly since I feel those private use only trackers and register only link forums defeat the point of sharing.

The one that's problematic is the album that covers IN and IaMP.
1st album is EoSD, 2nd is PCB, 3rd album is IN, 4th album is IN + IaMP, 5th album is PoFV and 6th album is MoF part 1.

I can't wait until they do SA so that I can finally have an excuse to buy their CDs once more.

>> No.17712574

>since I feel those private use only trackers and register only link forums defeat the point of sharing

I'm one of the people you probably hate. All my self-rips only go to private sites. Let me try to explain how people like me see the situation so you can understand (even if you still don't agree).

When it comes to doujin music, anyone involved is already in a niche area within a niche. We do not have numbers on our side. More content is being released every event, but the amount of people buying it (and willing to share) is not growing in parallel. I can't pretend to have any hard stats, but it feels like we're actually losing rippers. This is a problem because now everyone who couldn't pay will have less content to enjoy.

To combat this, sites like astost/red/sows/other Chinese forums/etc close their doors to what they consider leechers. I think astost is the best example, so I'll go with it. People are forced to share their own rips in order to download other rips. Moreover, re-sharing them outside of this closed garden will result in a ban. You might think this goes against "the spirit of sharing" or whatever, but it's actually a very practical policy.

If people don't buy and share, we won't have anything. As I said before, we simply don't have the convenience of being popular enough to get everything from every event every time for free. We likely never will. People MUST actively contribute (buy and rip CDs) if we're ever to get close to that point.

It's either close the doors to people who don't pull their own weight, or we all lose out on getting the goods.

>> No.17712596

>>17712574
You know the ONLY reason I started buying doujins was? Because I couldn't get them anywhere for free. And now I upload what I get. This "closed" policy might make some people salty, but it actually encourages more people to get involved and help out.

Incidentally this is probably my favourite album out of the ones the NEET's have put out, 5 came close but not quite but I never did get round to buying 4 for myself.

>I can't wait until they do SA so that I can finally have an excuse to buy their CDs once more.
They'll have to go really all out, I've heard a lot of extremely high quality SA covers. More interested in what they do when they move onto other games. There is lack of orchestral covers in general of post SA games.

>> No.17712697

I can agree with you, and it's also the only NEETs album I actually bought directly from the NEETs stand at Reitaisai (because I've obviously been to only one Reitaisai) but there's some good variety on the album, and the last track is amazing.
That said, I think their work can be hit-or-miss for certain tracks. You can get tracks that completely blow the original out of the water (ほおずきみたいに紅い魂, 六十年目の東方裁判) , most of the time some very solid work overall, but also some tracks that feel very underwhelming like Necrofantasia, which is probably not a song that shines when it's orchestral

They have this very high quality and skilled live orchestra but most arrangements are extremely 'samey' and seem to lack that little extra sometimes.

Most album seems to be like two to three excellent arrangements with the rest never really rising to more and being just a bit above okay. Voyage 1969 comes to mind as a good example it just completely drowns out the wonderful piano, flute & strings with a really heavy handed percussion + trumpets.

There are probably some better arrangers out there but far as professional quality of the performance NEET's are on another level.

You seem still confused, the actual physical cd is being sold.
It's not illegal to sell things you bought, however it is obviously illegal to sell your cd without deleting their content on your pc in case you ripped it. This is a big flaw in the legal system seeing as it is pretty much impossible to check someone's PC after they sold a cd.
tl;dr people sell the physical cd's they bought, not actual copies of it. The fact that the seller probably ripped the cd's first, is common sense.
