Because ideograms, pictures, and stories work for some people temporarily doesn't mean it works long term. If you're serious about learning there's no sure fire way other than studying your ass off.

The fact of the matter is that if you set Heisig fag and studyfag down and ask them to write a report in Japanese, studyfag will generate much more kanji.

Just because computers save your ass on the internet doesn't mean Heisig works either. Being able to read and write them is important, otherwise why bother?

Was fun until I high school, then my classes were full of retards who couldn't even write 漢語拼音 at that point I got so fed up with this bullshit of teachers who'd babysit their students that, and I wanted to sleep in on Saturdays, so I quit.

My parents were also all about the competitive environment. I didn't even have a gameboy until I was 14 years old, and I mean not the GBC, but the clunky, old, hardest substance known to man taking 4 batteries at a time and doesn't afraid of any- GAMEBOY. That thing, man. By the time I got that, I was so put off from gaming in general by my parents I didn't even care. I was allowed to use the PC for 30 mins every weekend. THAT WAS IT.

Even after I made my own PCs and had the freedom to do whatever the fuck I pretty much wanted, I still even today can't play vidya's for very long without feeling bored and stressed out.

If all you do is read Heisig and think "LOL I'VE LERNT IT" then you're obviously going to struggle. If you read Heisig, and err, I don't know, use some fucking initiative and practice writing the kanji as you go along by supplementing Heisig with one of the dozens of websites that show stroke order, then you have the perfect combination. Once you learn the basic elements it's just a case of putting different stuff together.
