I guess I'm one of those few people who played Tsukihime, Tsukihime Plus-Disc, and Kagetsu Tohya before Melty Blood.

Actually, I only played Melty Blood once. I gave the story mode a try, but it was so ridiculous that I deleted the game after the first try. Yeah, guys, let's blame everything on rumors and create a fucked up story where Hisui and Kohaku can fight, Akiha can turn into a giant monster, and Shiki's other sister suddenly realizes that she is in love with him even though he was away from her for a long time and in the original game they made it seem like the Arima family didn't give a shit about him. Fucking stupid.

I played all the visual novels before playing Melty Blood, and I only played Melty Blood because I love Tsukihime so much. I'm not normally into fighting games but the gameplay in MB is pretty fun.

It's not like I played the former for the story though, so I don't believe it much effect on enjoyment of the VN.

I first got exposed to Tsukihime through my friend, who had downloaded the demo of the original Melty Blood back when it was first released and showed it to me.

I got curious about the source material, and the rest is history.

That route is...one of MANY. And it's actually the most insane route. Endings near the top are serious, endings near the bottom are insane. Which one you go to depends on whether you win or lose a fight.

Win everything.
It's a pity, but after playing MB, Tsukihime, PLUS disk and KT there isn't much more to know story-wise.Hell, most of Act Cadenza's 'Story' isn't even canon (like the original MB was)

Still, it's worth to win with every character. You can find out about who and what is White Len, whom did she choose for a master, what is the 'Back alley alliance' hell, just Neko Arc Chaos winning quotes are enough.

In addition, team battle's nicknames are fun to find. 'Pierce the moon' 'Many things happened, but still good siblings' 'Shikiller' and 'I'll pass on the injection, please' being my favorites.
