I feel bad asking so many questions but, should I be spending my bronze coins on training my Juere Swordsman shopkeeper gradually or all at once? I have 19 of them, just broke level 20.

The more free room for pets the better - more little sisters and kittens you can keep before turning them in all it once to save time. It's good to manage having as few pets as you can (ranches, shops, actual combat pets are all very strong so you're tempted to have more).

Yes, ordinary/randart whips sometimes also enhance spell power. There might be more types of gear that can have it. My fox brother has gear with +spellpower in each hand, in the ranged slot, and on a hat (Mag-Abyss)

I'm really loving food sharing of 1.69. Now that food shops are bad for anything other than herb seed conversion it makes it easier to get rid of food with some side-benefit.

Only if you really want to keep him, but that goes for pretty much any creature. As is a standard poison hound is not very powerful and probably more of a hindrance than anything. You'll need to give him control magic so he doesn't blast you, with some training and gear that enhances breath he could clear dungeon rooms pretty quick.

How do those who play on non-permadeath (which is the majority, I suppose) deal with death? Savescumming kills fun, but:

I just take it as it comes. Used to save scum and like you said it felt like it killed the fun.
Now I just try and be cautious. I never go into a dungeon or room I am at least 80% sure I can handle, and then I immediately retreat if things start to look not so good. I also make sure never to take anything I would hate to lose that can't be gotten back easily through little sisters or is a piece of equipment I'm wearing.

Static artifacts means unique ones you can only get once, usually under special conditions or from a quest. These cannot be changed, but if you use a superior scroll anyway it will reinitialize the artifact (e.g. get rid of changes you made such as from artifact fusion).

I don't know how people manage to boost their PC stats so high.

Pets I do get - they grow fast whatever you do, normal food, cheap herbs, rare herbs, herbed herbs are overkill even. You may not even do anything and they get tens if not hundreds of points of stat growth before you even notice.

Now my PC can eat 4 herbed curarias at full potential and still get only a few increases. Yet one farm fully stacked with herb plants gives what, 15-20 rare herbs per harvest, that's 15 herbed meals with maybe 5-6 stat increases - I get more from just playing the game normally.
Even with 10 Kumiromi statues, ~300 gardening and that green refresher thing it's a challenge keeping one and a half farm full because they keep withering.

Living light sabres and polearms started dropping a lot for me once I got crafting to around 150 so I've been experimenting a bit.

What I've been doing so far was trying to max out crit chance to see if the damage becomes any good, but so far it has been shit, to be honest. At lvl5 and ~500 crit it still does pathetic damage. Absolute piercing maxed out may be better if dual-wielding with a Pile Driver or some such, maybe - but I'm thinking that fusing a big base damage weapon with +pierce would be more effective down the line.

Elemental damage that doesn't scale is trash later on, don't bother. Enemies get high resists the deeper you go. A few stat increases are meaningless too unless you get them early, I suppose.

What I'm thinking is making a maxed out gardening+ and crafting+ living weapons for utility purposes, seems to be the most productive use of them so far.

the gear you think is amazing when you are brand new looks like trash once you get a few static artifacts, and then you realize those suck when you find your first good random artifact. check out the wiki page on equipment to see which materials have native effects, when I was new the innate resists and scrolls of change/superior material were very important to my survival.

Raising attributes through herbs should be supplemental and not the main vehicle towards attaining power. The main vehicle is grinding skills and if you're a caster spell levels. Not only does raising skills help level attributes but actual skill levels and spell levels is more indicative of true power. Also, as attributes increase the more exp is required to level them. Eventually just using herbs to raise attributes is going to be slow. To keep raising attributes at a decent clip you must grind out skills and take herbs as a supplement. Much like how in rl body builders and fighters lift weights, run, and compete while using supplements/special diet to help them out.

For my character my attributes are the way they are due to skill grind and herbs. I've already capped MA and tactics and now I'm grinding polearm, long swords, and two hands as well to help out my attribute gains. I just wish it was easier to train pets in skills but sadly it isn't. But that's a mixed blessing. If there's one thing the player can do better it's grind skills faster than a pet can.

Well I don't know what's ideal but while training my attributes with long sword and dual wielding I've been enjoying living lightsabers with only stacking magic damage. Been using them in the void and doing well cutting things down with them. Can do about 310-350k damage in one turn with them down in the void. Even with the resists down there,my magic damage is actually higher than my slash damage. Picture has slash damage in red and magic damage in blue.

If there's anyone that stumbles on a living weapon loadout that's better as far as damage goes I and others would probably be interested in knowing.

There's a few more that are pretty easy to get. For example the little girl's knife. Go to their mansion, zap a rod of summoning once and then murder the horde of girls with impunity until it drops.

As forbthe magic vendors. Potions of potential, corruption (though I avoid buying these), scrolls of materials (gain and improve), scrolls of wonders, flying scrolls. Pretty much anything thst cost more than 1k.

And drink every potion of evolution you can find. Become an x-men.

Can only speak of the witch because I don't have a dog sister in my attack party. The witch is actually a hybrid warrior/caster. Kinda like a warmage. The witch will actually try to engage enemies in melee and will alternate melee and spells, Crystal Spear or whatever you teach her, once in front of the enemy. The witch retains the ability to cast Cheer and gets Rain of Sanity.

The witches use of Cheer though struck me as rare initially however if you build up her speed she'll cast it more frequently I found. If you're using Custom you can probably do a lot of neat things with the witch. For instance you can have your witch start off the battle cheering and then playing fighter/mage. You can teach her healing rain and have her act as a support healer as well. So she's great as a multirole pet but due to that function you have a lot of skills you're going to want to level for her.

How much sound resist does it take to avoid dimming?
I'm debating Elea vs Golem for myself.

A lot of sound resist. Don't know the exact amount needed but I've been dim immune so far at class 18 sound resist from on my Eulderna. Used artifact fusion on my gear to achieve that. You can see exact resist bonus amounts and your class using the special action listed as mirror. Last I remembered dim can be cured by consuming a random healing potion. Casting heal or any spell while dim is dangerous though.

There was a very high level godslayer Golem in the threads in the past that said that he was immune to dim for a very long time in the game but once he got far enough in the void enemies started to dim him. He eventually needed to stack sound resist as well but not nearly the amount needed for non Golems. I found that an interesting tidbit but at any rate, the initial dim immunity from a Golem can be useful and they certainly start with a lot of HP.

About of the Elea less damage from magic reaction thing. Very useful at the start of the game to avoid accidents. However, I've leveled up my Cure of Jua spell to the point where I can actually heal all of the magic reaction damage and then some. So it's possible later in the game to practically have infinite MP simply because your Cure of Jua is so powerful that you don't need to worry about overcast killing you. Of course magic capacity skill also helps too.

They become much more important in South Tyris or lvl80+ dungeons where you frequently run into monsters who cast hexes like element scar, silence, slow etc... that can really fuck you up. Like all scrolls, its power scales with magic device for some reason.
Incognito if you plan to pickpocket and aren't a mage. Sucks when you cast it but it fails and your pets mince a guard and the guy you were trying to rob in one turn and now you're really in a karma hole. Also useful if you don't want to risk killing the ancients in the garden of Eden (for RP purposes).
Gain attribute! If you find any of these tp home and stash them in your bookshelf! You need these for artifact fusion in significant quantity and they are very rare.

Jewish tip: static artifacts can be great for trading without depleting your resources. Kill Lomias and Larnneire repeatedly at parties for fun and profit. When I finally found the adventurer who found Hiryu-To he traded it to me for a Bow of Vinderre that I got back within minutes. For the effective price of one stardust you can get things that would otherwise cost you a small stack of cure corruption potions, allowing you to save up bigger stacks for the stuff they won't accept a Bow of Vinderre for.

Early on when you are weak you might want to pass up on Larnneire and just kill Lomias. He is a pussy who always just smashes through walls and runs away instead of fighting whereas she stands her ground and might be able to kill you if you're weak enough. Plus Lomias is a prick who deserves it.

Editing sprites is not hard, in fact for this game it almost couldn't be easier. First you download the chinese anon pack from the pastebin, open up PCCs in an editing program and copy parts you want. Using a grid helps (32x48 per rectangle/frame). Save as 128x196 bmp 24-bit R8G8B8 and do not save color space information. You can drop your creations in the graphics folder (pcc_body_3 onwards) and test them on the fly, don't even have to close the game.

Lots of anons do this, you don't even need to know how to draw.

It's a unique npc. They show up in hunting quests, assassin attacks, and I believe rarely as dungeon bosses.
Each one only ever appears once, then when you kill them they offer to join your party.
As for the mad scientist it is a mage character that knows no spells, but I believe uses rods if you hand them to him. So not that good unless you have custom to teach him things with custom ai.

You need to use a wish to get one. Need to do the struggle against insanity quest to get the insane book. The book will allow you to choose from a menu of secret pets when you type secretchar for your wish. The silver fox brother is gained from wishing for a brother.

You can safely level a living weapon to level 10 and it won't get blood sucking. Levels 11-15 you are almost guaranteed to get blood sucking added. Since you're in control of leveling the living weapon once at 100 exp, you can always just stop leveling the weapon once you reach level 10. That's what I've done. The wiki makes reference to material kits being able to avoid blood sucking but I've never experimented with that and I have no idea if that still works. More info on that can be found on the wiki.

Pick any skill that is keyed to the strength attribute and raise it. As you raise the skill it will contribute to strength exp which in turn levels strength. If you're focusing on strength, then a diet of Morgia or herbed in Morgia can help bring up your strength. As for normal foods, steaks from various types of monsters from the beetle, hand, and mammoth family can help raise strength. Flavor text saying it's good for strength should show up when you eat food made from those monsters. Does anyone know how good is megid flame when used with custom AI? The new ohuda item helps with debuffing dangerous enemies/bosses, so the only thing it's useful for is mass element scar. But if the element scar rarely sticks, I'd rather just debuff using the spell instead as I can level it up myself and stop my pet from uselessly spamming it every other turn.

According to the wiki, Megid Flame has a stamina cost of 100, which means with custom AI a pet would only be able to use it at most once every 20 turns. (5*(100/10) is 50, but there's a cap of 20.) You could have the pet only use Megid Flame against enemies with a particular status, e.g. they lack Element Scar, or they have a particular buff.

Custom graphics is just PCCs for my pets that felt right for their character. Tinkering too much e.g. giving them portraits from other games felt a bit like breaking Elona's own cosy atmosphere but I may change my mind later if I do find something really fitting at some point.
Sprite packs I tried were mostly lame - good replacements combined with completely offbeat ones like longcat replacing all cats and other weird shit that doesn't fit the game at all.
I've not tried UI replacements but AFAIK there's a little sister one that seems fun.

I haven't done an indepth look yet, but boost lasts 5 turns and costs 50 stamina. That's about 6 energy IIRC and you recover 5 energy in that time. In theory, it's pretty spammable if you don't mind having to use the buff every 5 turns, which I can understand.

Do Cheer and Platinum Song scale the same way Speed, Hero etc. do with Casting skill? Do they scale with anything at all or do they become outclassed by spells of the same name being cast individually?

Check player Dist and move to them - Why not use the leash item?

Today marks the second milestone in the void expedition. Floor 1000 has been reached. The crusade continues as there are still more floors past this point. Having gotten this far, it's time to assess what has been seen to see if there are any patterns emerging. From the very base of the void opening to floor 1000 there has been only 2 biomes. Rock and ice. However, what is odd is that some of the corridors of the void seem hallowed out as if they were meant to be rooms instead of a cave. The patterns are similar to dungeons found on the surface. This leads more credence to the theory that all the dungeons originally come from the void and that they're pushed upwards.

Some of these dungeons are more dangerous than others and in particular lean times where adventurers are few, villagers have entreated Opatos by making prayers at his statue to violently shake the lands. Dungeons on the surface are swallowed up by the earth yet new dungeons eventually emerge from the ground to take their place. While some of these dungeons that appear on the surface may be old dungeons previously seen before there are newer dungeons that emerge from the ground.

What force is causing these dungeons to push to the surface? Is the void growing and as new levels are created, this forces previous levels to the surface which emerge as dungeons? What's strange about these dungeons is the fact that the stairways always lead down instead of up. Pointing the way to the void.

I liked tome4's explanation for its void dungeon like mode; a god is creating reality as it runs away from an immortal god killer, forever.

For elona I wouldn't be surprised if the dungeons just happen because they do and have no relevance to the plot since it seems the writing and the actual gameplay have no real correleation at all

The writing in this game is all over the place in general. In Palmia king dies, stays dead. In South Tyris an NPC remarks on how people can just come back from the dead showing its something the king should have been able to do and not just gameplay
