I made this template for a thread here and I was wondering if there was a better method for giving a lineart drawing aliased lines than what I did. Here's my method:

-Select the white parts of the image via color range
-Invert selection
-Make a new layer, and paint the selection with the pencil tool, creating the aliased lines
-Create a new layer and bucket fill it with white
-Delete the original lineart layer and merge the aliased lines and the white background layers

If anyone here has experience with Photoshop, is there a better way of doing this? I feel like my method is a bit convoluted.

I've had a shitty wacom, or whatever the name of the tablet is, for 3 years now and used it twice, for osu standard which I never even liked anyway. I occasionally sketch with my mouse and before that I used my laptop mousepad for 7-8 years. Why am I so retarded? I just feel like using the tablet always felt not accurate, which is ironical because neither does the mouse.

Kaiba is one of the most anime looking things I've seen and your art doesn't really resemble it. I have a big problem with the way their hands/arms are, rather than noses though. They're also making those really over-exaggerated expressions that western cartoonists like to use.

Their faces are also... uncute. They don't have to fill up all the available head space.

Unless those are the character names, it sounds rather odd. There's no reason to drop the particle as if it were plural. Even if there were more heroes and kings, we're not refering to them in a general sense so the particle is still needed.
You could use "a" to have it sound less unique. I think that sounds like a tale or a legend, you know? Like "Once, there was a hero and she went to throw down with a demon king."

I asked for help on an imageboard. Then I got a DAW and some tutorials for it, tried a bunch of synthesizers (using only two right now).
Got somehow better at making sound with them after practicing and reading manuals, but as someone without any musical education at all I'm struggling at actually composing anything apart from short loops/melodies.
I tried reading some of the musical theory and couldn't really figure out how to put anything of it to use, I don't need to be able to read cheat sheets or play a piano, for now at least. There gotta be something of use, but it's too much to look through.

So I think I could really use some help there, too. I just want to make sound and then music from it in a DAW, is there anything of music theory that can help me with composing? Maybe something for synthesizing, too? I did read the respective manuals but now I'm mostly blindly trying to make something that doesn't sound too weird.

The only thing you have to learn before proceeding is the notes in the keyboard. It'll help you to visualize.
If you ask me why are they arranged like that, using only 7 letters to represent 12 notes, it was an arbitrary decision, so deal with it you like it or not.

https://www.musictheory.net/lessons
Next thing is follow this since it teach you musical notation. Whether you actually use it or not it doesn't matter since all it does is making easier to learn certain concepts so it's useful.
When you get to chords progression stop. Get harmony and voice leading by Aldwell. Explaining why chords progression works is hard but this does an excellent job. I mean, it's so good you don't have to read it all.
Here's some supplementary material to the book with audio samples. http://sfcmtheory.com/harmony_supplements/harmony_supplements.html
If you can't find it by yourself then ask me to upload it.

About music structure there isn't much material but have this as an introduction
http://teoria.com/en/tutorials/forms/phrases/
Then you proceed to analyze songs by yourself, listening for phrases and how do they relate to each other. Same for sections, listen for them and see how they relate to each other.
There are a lot of "analyzes" people made that you can see here https://www.hooktheory.com/theorytab/charts/chart/new
If you search for a certain song chances are that it's already there. It has plenty of touhou songs.

There are even less resources for melody since it's a thing you get a feeling for but there's this
http://www.calvin.edu/academic/music/pdf/Figuring%20Out%20Melody.pdf

It may seems like too much but I hope it helps you all.

drawabox is super simple though

starts with basic lines and pen control, just grind though it over and over again, there's no shortcut for building that fine motor control

Also it should be mentioned - do NOT use a tablet for those exercises, it leads to a bad habit of ctrl+z drawing in which you draw a line, undo it, and repeatedly draw the same line over and over again until it either "looks right" or you give up.

animate all the way through, it's obvious you're just flipping the sprite and reversing the animation

Also use keyframes, the end of each stroke is a good one, and note that body parts tend to spend more time near the ends of their strokes - e.g. a batter hitting a baseball is going to have more frames at the wind up and at the finishing pose than the actual swing.

In a tiny town, hidden among trees in the middle of nowhere, lost souls and dusty vagrants huddle in alleyways and shake in fear. In the corners of their eyes, walking among the passersby, the rabbits are coming out of hiding.

A fallen star carried with it a messenger from heaven. A white, shining angel, come to talk peace with the earth. But they had no use for her; they cut her open and stole her holy blood, leaving her to die.

Amongst fading streetlights, braving streets prowled by zombie people high on narcotics late at night, unphased by tales of a new drug said to make you 'lose yourself in their lunatic red eyes,' a man finds a white rabbit bleeding to death in a parking lot.

It's entitled A Cup of Moondust, and it's a psychological horror novel about a rabbit from the moon calling herself the lunar emissary who's come to make peace talks with the local group of earth gang rabbits. However, not all goes to plan.

If you'd like, you can read the prologue and first chapter, here.

I apologize in advance if I'm making too many posts about it.

Starting a novel with pretentious grandiloquent phrases might be a bad idea. Admittedly, I wrote the text below before I resumed reading and found that your text is actually fine in this regard, but I'll leave it as a reminder just in case.

Your style is quite pretentious. What is your target audience? You need to choose it carefully and cater to its needs. Generally a modern man has little time to read lengthy grandiloquent phrases as the plot yukkurily unwinds, and he might get bored before it starts getting interesting. Learn from the most successful fanfictions. You have to capture your audience from the start. I would personally suggest HPMOR (another series, yes) or Touhou mecha. Or whatever well-received fanfiction you can find on touhou-project.com.

Yes, all of this applies even if your novel is free. And a boring commercial novel probably gonna ruin your business if it's the first one.

Overall I found it to be interesting, and I want to know any available info regarding its release.

P. S. Giftrapped? Is this intentional?

The opening prologue is grandiloquent in an attempt to grab the reader and briefly explain the concept of a moon rabbit through a familiar, real-world event.

The rest of the text is more approachable as it is told through the lens of an average, if downtrodden, man--though the narrator/main character will sometimes slip into rambling thoughts where he describes things with exaggeration and imagery.

It's also not fan-fiction... though as you can likely tell, it is heavily inspired by Touhou.

Thanks for reading, and your feedback.
I want to release it this fall, and am working on its 3rd revision right now. I'm going to self-publish it on Amazon and perhaps a few other places, and it's not going to cost very much.

PS no that was a typo, though I might leave it, considering that the writer for the post in question could have just as easily made that error himself.

Well, that would be okay for a preschooler, and I'm not exaggerating here or shitting at you like d/ic/ks usually do. For more mature drawing you need to learn how to look at your drawing critically, flip your canvas, and align the facial features, for starters. If I were you, I would memorize the flaws, drop this picture at once and draw several more.

Once you learn to align the features properly, you have to learn how to make the face appealing. Right now it looks pretty uncanny even at the thumbnail, not to mention the full-sized pic. Don't forget to add eyebrows as well. Oh, and draw thicker necks, pl0x.

The paradox of Theseus' Ship, as told by the ancient Greeks, posits to the reader the situation of a boat travelling across the seas. As it travels its captain Theseus and crew must replace equipment, wooden planks, railings and so forth as they break or wear out. Eventually, every piece of the ship wears and is replaced. The Greeks would ask: is Theseus commanding the same ship he first set off with? Or is it an entirely different ship, since all of its parts are replacements?

I have recently been considering /jp/ (and to a broader extent 4chan) along the same lines. When the big Jay was first created, it had a distinct audience of defectors from /a/ and Something Awful, a discussion repertoire of VNs, Touhou games, 2ch shitposts and other weeb nonsense, a meido that moderated lightly, and a distinct culture that discouraged the use of outside trends such as greentext.

However over time all of these elements of /jp/ board culture have been replaced. The old users have either gone to Gensokyo or forced out of their basements, and are replaced by a new crop of children from Twitter, Reddit, Tumblr, and other boards. Most topics except Touhou have been discussed to death and are replaced with cancerous generals. Meido was long killed off and replaced with the jan-man. Finally the old BBS-influenced board culture has been replaced by the same bland mix of /v/ and social media/IRC chatroom culture. Even the old weeb ads for onaholes have been replaced by the same clickbait scam malware ads that you will see on any news site.

The URL resolves the same as it did in 2008...but am I visiting the same message board?

Well, I'm not sure if I can say I was being perfectly honest here. Surely, some days, when my lower head gets the better of me, I'm frantically drawing and shopping lewds to relieve my pent-up tension, but... Right now I'm slowly drawing a BDSM picture of Sakuya with her two mistresses teasing her, and I'm pretty sure I would never fap to it myself, as I'm not particularly a fan of medium or hardcore BDSM and outright dislike anything with even the slight homosexual undertones (although I still find such jokes funny or make excuses in regards to imizu's art). Still, I'm drawing my idea without stopping. So am I drawing it for others to indulge themselves fantasizing about it? Am I just venting my subconscious frustration because I willingly refuse to lead social life and get myself a girlfriend (if, of course, I would be able to get one with my bad speaking skills and brutal looks)?

My explanation is this: (a) I want to get better at drawing, that's why I'm drawing more and more complex pictures with naked bodies as a clear sheet on which every flaw is most visible; (b) I want others to enjoy my works, which includes being able to draw something that makes your boner rip your pants in an instant; thus I'm conducting an artistic exploration of eroticism.

That completely fine, a writing group doesn't have to be a big group anyway.

>I began writing seriously because I was tired of seeing evil things in poor taste become popular.
I began when I got a little smartphone I could use to write with while traveling. I've been making up stories in my head for much longer, but I eventually wanted to write them down, at first so I don't forget them, but eventually, I thought someone might be interested in reading them too, so I started studying how to write good.

The big thing I'm seeing here is punctuation mistakes. Capitalizing improper nouns in the middle of sentences, putting commas after other punctuation marks.
Be careful not to use the same descriptor word too often, like 'suddenly' to denote something unexpected happening.
Putting onomotopoeia words in sentences (uhm, eh, ah) as if they were actual words isn't completely unacceptable in dialogue, but be sparing with it. In the form of writing, it just becomes bloat if you use it all the time.

All in all, this reads more like the script to a game scenario or something than a short story.

I was also going to complain that while this is told from the first person perspective, the narrator never seems to take part in what's happening. However, that appears to be a plot point in some way, so I'm not sure what to say about it.

>All in all, this reads more like the script to a game scenario or something than a short story.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. Is it because it's dislogue-heavy? Should I then reduce the amount of dialogue? Or do you mean I'm lacking in description? Though I'm not sure just how much more of the empty room they spend the whole story in I should be describing...

>I was also going to complain that while this is told from the first person perspective, the narrator never seems to take part in what's happening. However, that appears to be a plot point in some way, so I'm not sure what to say about it.
A-Ah! Don't spoil it!

Just kidding, but seriously, what did you think about it? When it came to me, I felt so clever and smug and pleased with myself, but I'd like to know how others thought about it. Did it feel jarring and unpleasant at some point?

It is dialogue-heavy, but that isn't necessarily a problem. The issue is more the sort of loose way it is written, with little attention given to formatting convention. If you read a little more, you'll probably see what I mean.

I was especially jarred with the "*KACHINK*" at the end. That is something you would never see outside of a comic book or video game.

As far as the bit at the end, it was just confusing. There's a character who is speaking, but the reader doesn't know who it is because their name is never mentioned. So the reader is wondering who is missing, when they are going to do something so you know who they are.
And then at the end they suddenly pop up in present-tense, when the story is told from past-tense, and it refers to a 'you,' when the narrator could only be talking to the characters. it is sort of clever I suppose conceptually, but it wasn't handled in the best way.

I see, I see. I think I'm getting what you mean now. I don't think I've studied formatting convention yet. I'll get on that, thanks!

Hmm, I see... that's a bit disappointing. I really want to deliver it right though, so I'll try to find a way.

I've always wondered about this, but never really bothered to bring it up till now, but... shouldn't it be 'heroine'?

Hero can be gender neutral too. For what I'm doing it fits better to name her like that.

You both (I assume) have big issues anatomically speaking, but a solid natural sense on how do design a pic, though very unpolished.
I hope you will keep going and get better.

Here's something I whipped up today. Had an idea under the shower.
