Just started a new character. Wiki says you don't lose items on randomized levels like puppy dungeon since it's not possible to retrieve them, but I definitely lost some scrolls and books just now.

I guess it doesn't help that I'm playing as a mage. I picked up the little girl after that, but I died like 3 times since then from enemies rushing me or archers kicking my ass. Normally I'd just press F1 after like every enemy and reload on death.

But then on my last playthrough I noticed that I just don't give a fuck about even trying to do by best.
Like to the point that I'm not even buffing up, just keep spamming attack on enemies until either they die or I die. Then reload if I die, buff up a bit and try again. Save scumming really ruined the game for me. I'll try to hang on and git gud.

Another anon was doing the same and was not used to starting over and being weak again either. I'd say you basically need to avoid combat as much as possible until most of your equip slots are filled. Even the puppy cave is dangerous, loiter around Vernis and do e.g. harvest time quests. You need to be able to teleport away, have decent defense, heal and reliably hit at range. Afterwards you do pupper cave runs for scrolls of oracle and maybe trade with adventurers for some choice gear.

I was just thinking the same thing. This is what the guy posted. Now the image is quite big. When scaling it down, you get a blurry mess. The only way I can really think of to make a sprite for Elona out of it, would be to redraw it. Since the image provides a clear example, that shouldn't be too difficult. I'd like to try my hand at it, when done drawing the whole body we'd have a thicc base pcc to color/modify/add clothes to as well.

kuro's sp regen also becomes less and less worth giving a damn about as your max sp goes up and what is essentially just the regen bonus to sp becomes less and less noticable. even more so since if you have an extra turn you already regen extra sp from having an extra turn.

Sort of what happened to me. I basically stopped save scumming after early game, but I had a nagging thought that I missed half the experience and was always tempted just to quick load if something unexpected happened.

Started up as a Juere Tourist and am having a good time relearning things.

First couple of levels I was incredibly squishy, and the best advice I got was go to Yowyn and do harvest time quests until you have a couple of levels under you and have most of your equipment slots filled with something.

When I first started out I'd just kinda play it on and off since I didn't ever manage to get anything done proper. Just set small goals for yourself like getting a farm or setting up a shop, leveling a skill etc. It makes the game much more fun.
Also to address your problem, just avoid combat early game or get lots of pets and tanky armor to survive. Only start dungeon diving after your pets get real strong or you have a decent amount of necro pets.

You might want to recheck how the negotiation skill works.

Max you can sell for is 1/3rd full price, running a shop lets you sell for 6/5ths normal price.
And for equipment, you get to sell for 1/60th at best, while your shop is still able to get 6/5ths.

Rescue little sisters, go to some parties, and eat hero cheese. You would easily have 6-7k health at that level if you weren't a fairy, but for now you'll definitely want to spend a bit of time patching that up.

I guess so. For me it's more of a hassle than it's worth. Managing a farm and ranch while getting cooking up high enough isn't worth the price cuts. You'd need more than double what you had before to get the same results. I could go to the shop vendor for only a slight reduction and I wouldn't have to pay taxes on a shop.

The thing about "nerfs" is that they almost always affect the high level high resource characters less than low level or new characters; this is true pretty much across video games in general.
I suspect he will have such a high volume of sales and such high shopkeeper stats that it will just slow down the income a little, something he'll easily make up for by just putting his snail shoes on and walking on the world map for twice as many in-game days.

Money storm is really strong. 1 shot an entire room I'd normally take multiple turns to kill a single enemy in. Seems pretty random but still strong even when doing lower damage. Also takes nearly no money compared to my income which should be the average or worse than the income for anyone who has it since I just unlocked it/

Well on the surface the changes are a definite nerf to shops. The earnings in the future from pet run shops might be less than earnings in the current version of the game. However, the fact remains that pet run shops will still sell things for more than what you would have if you sold them to a normal vendor. The question is then return on investment. Is the work you need to put in, the pet slots used up, and the additional maintenance tax for owning more buildings worth the amount of additional gold you stand to gain?

I've already set down shops and my shopkeepers have refined their selling skills. So there's no point in me getting rid of them if it still stands that I'll still get more gold from them than if I were to sell my stuff to a normal vendor.

Now, I said that on the surface it does look like a nerf. Well there's a wildcard to consider.

I've always been wondering what that sales exp was when I looked at the register. So it seems that it applies to the upcoming shopkeeper feats. The question then is what are these feats and what do they do? If they somehow help sales then the nerf might not be so bad or nothing was really nerfed. If they don't help sales then yeah that sucks but for now I'm really curious about these feats. So I guess wait and see how this develops? Don't have a full picture yet of how pet run shops will perform if we don't know what these feats do.

Regardless of how the changes go down, I'm not so cold as to kick Yacatect to the curb. I'll find another use for the goddess if need be.

I've never had a problem with any of those really except black griffins when they first started appearing. I usually just kill them before they attack me. I can't say I have amazing equipment but the stuff I do have I've just scrounged up from playing over weeks. I can't really give a definitive answer on how to get good resists because I'm still trying to figure it out myself. You can get some resists easily from static artifacts. One thing that really helps is that I crafted a magic resist [#####] robe that also had chaos [####] and sound[#####] on it.

I've checked everything I can check.

Yeah it's ridiculously powerful. Since it scales with gardening, if you start out with a farmer you'll have an extremely easy time as soon as you get that feat.
It binds, constricts and deals shitloads of dmg, what more could you ask for?

Yea. Gardening is likely to be your highest skill until you get equips to not be1 shot by rocks, poison never misses anything not immune and it does good damage. On top of all this Gold Bells pop up pretty often in places like Puppy cave and it kills them 1 hit. A gold bell=a lich. A lich=something that can basically solo the entire North Tyris up to the boss.
A lot of things are broke early game, though. Touch of sleep also is.

ERRYTHING (but ranged)
Always play a warmage, spells and buffs for harder enemies, melee for easier enemies to save mana. Have my undead bros with me all the time, though usually I don't pull them all out if it's overkill. But they are always an option to swarm a harder enemy.
Works very well in North Tyris and a bit into South, but I never made it further than that so I have no idea how viable is it for endgame. Both my melee and spells are at a decent level so I can always just choose to grind something up to high levels if mixed doesn't work well enough.

Speaking of gods/goddesses, I assume everyone sucks up to each god at least once for the unique gifts. But what is your priority in early game?

For me it's Yacatect (for plat coins) first, then Kumiromi (so I can start farming herbs and revive dead plants), Itzpatl (for the elemental damage buff since I'm usually a mage), and then the rest in any order.

Best god Opatos, he's a jolly and friendly bro you can get swole and have dranks with. He even gives you a strong aryan wife that can carry small buildings.

Preferred playstyle make a small group of pets into demigods and self into an indestructible tank that can't do much except be handsome and not die. Pets do all the fighting, PC does the talking and uh, strategizing.

Yacatect is first usually because it's makes the early game so much less of a drag and getting trinkets for offerings is super easy.
The Goose also makes an excellent trade up from the little girl.

After her I go for Ehekatl next because Black Cat and the secret treasure allow for superior artifact generation for the rest of the game. The effect adds so much value over time so it's best to have it early.

Next is whoever I feel like at the time. If my gardening is at 50 or better I usually switch to kumiromi to herb up, but if not it could really be anyone. Most other god gifts are just for the convenience once you have them rather than something that snowballs the longer you've had it.

Furthest I've gone with a character was as a tag-teaming Claymore with my twin younger sister, and oddly enough I had less trouble wrecking Zeome than with the character I spent the most time playing (mainly because I was absolute shit with handling potentials), which was a martial arts-throwing character with <Nightmare>. Both? I return home and use a shelter that I've placed there to pass the time. You can use hard rain and ether to your advantage by rapidly passing 3 days in the shelter, leaving and checking your house's shops, and repeating. Sometimes ether wind will last for half a month so it can be pretty good if you have 8 magic vendors in your home.

Best goddess and god for me is Jure and Kumiromi. Although Ehekatl is doing her bestest to woo me over to her side with all the Ehekatl statues she's placed in my inventory and lucky finds. Haven't had problems spending my gold. Growth scrolls for me cost 3.5 million each. I've been getting stacks of them as they save me time and allow me to split my training. At very high skill levels there are potential points where no matter what you do you can't get exp unless potential is above a certain point. For instance, currently my eye of mind skill will only get exp if potential is above 200 or above. A blessed growth scroll keeps me in the field longer to train the skill since I don't need to rush back to the trainer to raise my potential. More importantly for me though, If I'm just increasing potential through blessed growth scrolls it frees up my platinum coin usage for attending spell schools. I can level up both my spells and skills quickly.

Other misc items I buy are treasure maps which go for 250k, rings and amulets from Moyer for trade ins at my shop. If his rings don't have additional attack chance on them my pet run shop will give another chance for them. I've gained several additional attack chance amulets and additional attack range attack rings this way that my pets are now using. Speaking of trade ins, I'll buy every single spellbook, scroll, and potion I find on magic vendors and hope for good items from trade ins. I've gained spellbooks of wish, speed upper potions, and gain attribute scrolls this way. However, the biggest money sink for me is my pets. If you are to train their attributes up quickly, you will go through a fortune in trainer fees in a short amount of time. All the above added up takes a nice bite out of your gold supplies. I started out with 500 million awhile back but that supply has drawn down to around 6 million. I'll probably do another stint of gold generation soon.

Gold is merely a means to an end though. If you feel you're making enough then start focusing your energies to actually making your character strong.

Yea this is generally the isse. I don't use pets. 250k is nothing to me, 3 mil is a decent chunk but its getting less and less a decent chunk as I get higher and higher in skills. And I'm still low leveled, I'm not even 50. But since I'm not using pets I have a lot of ranches, a lot of meat, a lot of skin.

As for the making my guy strong thing, I'm not high enough to need to use scrolls of potential, I already have about 20 blessed pots of potential, I already have a herb farm (which costs me nothing), fully upgraded gear. Only enemies vastly above my level pose a remote threat.
I don't see what I can spend my gold on to make my guy strong I'm not already buying. Which barely impacts my cash flow and is getting cheaper while my income just grows.

I don't really like walking around with this much gold so I don't even take shop gold usually. Just the cash from the skins is enough to buy all the money sinks relevant to me and have spare.

Most likely I guess there simply isn't enough things to pour money into unless you use pets, especially if you use the slots that would go on pets to make more money.

I started doing the void at level 30 and became my main hunting grounds.Not only is the place a nice challenge when you go deep enough but it's a better training place than any normal dungeon. I only used dungeons to get plat, small medals, and some gold. Regular dungeons end up being a horrible place to train skills, get exp, and get AP later on. If you feel you're making more gold than you can possibly spend at the moment then that's that I guess. Even if you should die and lose your gold you shouldn't have problems making it back from the sounds of it which is a good place to be.

I wish growth scrolls were available for gold when I was lv 30. At that time growth scrolls could only be bought using small medals. I could have trained up my stuff much quicker. End back in my day rambling.

Not going to knock Lulwy or really any god choice. Depending on your character and what he/she does, different gods will be a better fit.

As for the prayer of Jure, what makes that special action awesome for me is that it's a heal that runs off of stamina and isn't considered a spell. That means you can use it even though you're silenced. I found it very useful for my character because the enemies deep in the void run silence spells that can last 100+ turns and my holy veil spell just can't keep up with the spell power of the monsters down there. So silence happens to me often enough where Jure's prayer is a nice emergency heal when things get crazy down there.

It's no slouch in the healing department either. The more gems you offer up to Jure the stronger the heal gets. I unfortunately had to betray Jure for a short period of time to experiment with getting another fairy from Kumiromi but I'm slowly building up my piety since the betrayal. It's only at around 7000 but I have plenty of room to grow and for the prayer to get stronger.

Continuous attack was good for training, but then it was nerfed. Now it's not really good, except maybe for triggering stop time.
Provoke is good for keeping the heat off your unbuffed pets.
Metal guard is shit, duration way too short. Unless you're battling literal Gods, then it saves.
Syncro Heart you either never need it, or when you need it you forget it exists. Still a must buy if you're playing in inferno.
Charge Attack is great for passing the Meshera Alpha. And for generally making screenshots with huge numbers. But personally ten turns spent at the mercy of anyone isn't my cup of tea.

As with anything, it comes easier when you're not specifically grinding for it. I've been dumping all the jewelry I find in various storage houses in preparation for when I switch to Yacatect later, but that doesn't help you much if you're determined to do her first right off the bat.

If you have money to burn you could buy out Moyer, but your best bet is probably just doing low level dungeons whenever you feel like you need a break from the Puppy Cave.

Oh, gods don't care if the offering is stolen, right? There's lots of NPCs running around with two rings and a necklace if you want to try your luck with pickpocketing. I only did like two classes of the Adventure Seminar but the random NPCs that populated them all seemed to have a full complement of jewelry, so you could try there.

At 1.2k AP, once I hit 2k I'll grab Barrier and my durability will jump massively.
Also finally started herb farming, which I can only blame the delay on laziness, so CON will be unfucked soon. And I'm spamming Houzanha every time I see full stamina, so that's a lot of free exp too.
And I'm THIS close to having enough fame that Challenge quests spawn enemies that drop parts I can use to make Dragon Zombies, so my spook power is also going to skyrocket soon.

The issue was, in part, that I was being lazy and just powergrinding my spooks instead of myself.

Power went out in the middle of a dungeon, and now my save file says on load: Updating your save data from Ver.0 now. Please exit the current area and enter the world map once to update game data. To update your game, please save your game in a town in the previous version then retry. After those three messages, it closes out. Just make repeated trips to Moyer I maxed it in very little irl doing this. Invested him to just 100 or so and I'd get 20-30 per run and since you are running from Noyel with the snow slowing you down he'd restock really fast
This has the added bonus of having someone to sell excess skins too while you get your own shops to decent invest levels.
You can also just make them en masse in your home but that's too RNG based, especially if like me you don't use pets and don't get free mats with every kill

Sorry about asking to be spoonfed here but I've been fucking with these sprites for half an hour and I cannot for the life of me get my pet to take a custom sprite, its a bmp and the correct size, was made for Elona but the game refuses to acknowledge it or I'm doing something wrong.
The wiki says I need to drop it in the Elona+/User/Graphics folder and I'm trying, it seems to be the same place you keep custom portraits.
Am I retarded? Or is the wiki out of date.

If it's a pcc, you don't put those in user/graphic but in the main graphic folder with the other body sprites. Make sure to not save color space information when saving it as bmp. In the graphic folder you'll see pcc_body_number sprites, just name it the next number.

If it's just a static sprite, yes put it with the custom ports and name it pic_(number).

I've never seen anything good on an adventurer or seen reason to hire one. Immunity to status, resist, extra attack and maybe maintain stats are the only attributes that matter. Any <item>, or ideally {item}, like that is perfect because you can use artifact fusion to push it up to the attribute limit without wasting any attribute points on stupid shit like +mining ###.

Updated to 1.68 tonight and spent my 450 saved up platinum and now most of my skills are over 300%, been doing all the harvest times I see to get bronze coins so I can upgrade my cart. I get the shop nerf now, restaurants are crazy with cooking making an extra meal every 100 skill. It might even be a temporary thing to encourage people to try hauling for money, which I plan to get into right away. Really think specialty shops should be done away with or shopkeepers should not use up a pet slot/remove shopkeepers. It adds no challenge and offers no decision making.

Random artifacts really are fantastic. Static artifacts are often better for earlygame but once you get later on and start progressing into Lost Irva you can get some incredibly silly godly items and artifact fusion just makes them sillier. Pic related still has room for 3 more enhancements.

Now that I've checked out the void and awakened dungeons I have come to the depressing realization that I've been playing on easy mode up to this point. I wish I could go back and feel like my character was strong again.
