Anyone here competent enough to help a brother out with a 1st semester japanese project?

I want this to translate to "No - it wasn't yesterday. The meeting is today; I'm going their shortly."

And what I have is "Iya iya, tigaimasu. Kyoo wa zyanai desu kedo, boku wa sugu ikimaus."

Hopefully the spellings are close enough to be understood.

I'm aiming for a literal translation into English with the Japanese vocabulary I know; I'll guarantee I speak English better than you.

I don't speak or read a lick of Jap, but isn't the "boku" unnecessary here?

Does this mean in watching anime for 10 years I've actually learned a single thing about the Japanese language? So it does work.

I'm afraid you may be using particles I don't know. Is this close?
"Kinoo zya nai desu. Kyoo o kaigii desu. Sugu ikimasu yo."

And could I put the first and second sentance together with kedo or ga like I had originally?

They do here. Or at least an adaptation of it. The book is copyright 1987 but they make a good case for its use over Hepburn.

I would have said something like:

いや、ミーティングは昨日じゃなくて、今日ですよ。今すぐ行きますよ。

to よs might be a bit pushy, but I guess the urgency warrants it.

"ti" is good form, but Using "zya" makes no sense to me. "z" and "ya" are a pain to type quickly. I'd stick to "ja" if I were you; you want to use as few keystrokes as close-together as possible.
