2008.03.08. The ef - the first tale project has been canceled.

Holy fuck, the hell is wrong with visual novel translators as of late? 2006 had NNL's BREAK THE SUPPORT DISK fiasco. The end of 2007 and 2008 had Message reigning over trolland with his installer.
So the fuckers at NNL try to reclaim the title by doing this?
The fuck. I'm never trusting a translation group again. Go TLwiki/BakaTsuki/Wikiesque translation project.

That's why I'm learning Japanese.

I wasn't around for this "BREAK THE SUPPORT DISK" thing, what was it all about?

I see this as encouragement to use AGTH.

By the way, the first game sucks. Expect for the tiny Yuuko bits.

wtf is this shit

I wonder if this level of faggotry exists for groups that translate from other languages.

>> No.170105

Canadians suck.

Most of the ones I know are backstabbing assholes who put up a tough front when they're just trash. They also have no sense of loyalty.

>> No.170116

I hate to say it (because I hate the Korean/China VS Japan bullshit) but there was one Korean translator (or was it a Chinese translator?) who translated all of F/SN, did all the coding or whatever, as well as the installer, all by himself in just a month or two after the game was released.

Fuck you Message, I could do a much better job than you at anything, even fapping. Especially fapping.

being here is proof you have training in that particular field.

How much easier is to translate from Japanese to Korean than Japanese to English?

>> No.170154

>>170116
But will the Korean guy's FSN install on my Gameboy Color? I think not.

>> No.170162

Difficulty is about the same.

It's just that Americans don't get as obsessed over stuff. We have some decent translators, but they don't really have much output.

Most of the Japanese-Americans I know could easily translate all of F/SN in a week if they spent all their time on it. But there are very few of these people who actually output.

>> No.170177

I'm surprised this doesn't happen even more often. I used to TL for a fansub group for a bit before I actually realized how poor a use of my time it was. I guess I can see working on this type of stuff if you're a college student with a lot of free time and no need for a part-time job or if you're a shut-in that lives with mom, but that's about it.

>> No.170174

But honestly, I will be disappointed if it doesn't install on at least Windows, Mac OSX and Linux.

So what was the game? Wind by Minori? And who's translating to heart 2 now?

>> No.170272

>>170174
The fun thing is that to run ef you need to set your clock to Japan time zone. Also the copy protection isn't on the game but on the installer itself.

All of this kind of explains why they wanted to release the whole game prepatched.

AGTH FTW.
I don't need any fuckers to translate anything for me.

There should be more /vn/ translating than shitty animes.

like watching an HK bootleg. You'll survive.
Besides, it's a great way to learn Jap because the text can be copied.

>> No.170576

>>170510
AGTH is only a tool to get the text from the game. Then you can either use some translation software or translate it by yourself using a dictionary (ie, read it).

Using a translation software sucks (and is, at most, barely understandable), in my opinion. I use it to read the text, but of course, that requires to have some basis in moonspeak.
