I replaced Daiyousei for Lily White. Youmu is has no range and waste too much MP on her attacks, Keine sometimes I used her to give Mokou some stat bonus, instead of Mystia I used the Prismrivers since I can buff morale, stats and debuff enemy morale with Lunasa's seishin and MAPW. Aside from Yuyuko my team consists of all these, ignore the order though since they are randomly sorted in this pic (this is FMW3 btw).

It's actually not that good the base power of the attack is 3700, when you consider Yamame costs the same as any of the Bakartet and doesn't require you to deploy the whole group and has a 3600 pwr finisher it's pretty mediocre.

Watch out for the spellcard where she summons shittons of mooks, she can fuck you over as that spellcard instead of ealing damage to your HP, it drains your MP..

Don't be afraid to waste your SP.
The final phase refills all your units HP, MP and SP to the max. (In the case of SP, it overfills it to 1.5 or 2x it's max capacity I can't remember very well)

Friendship bonuses to damage don't go above ~50%, and the Aki sisters can't cap their friendship bonus anyway. I think they max out at around 15%, maybe 25% if you throw in their other friends as well. Which is still a very nice bonus, but not outrageously huge.

Sanae, on the other hand, can outright max her friendship level. It's not trivial - you need friendship-boosting personal skills, and need to keep her clustered up with Reimu, Suwako/Kanako, and the three tengu, but when you take Sanae's already good stats and stack +66% accuracy, +66% evasion, +51% damage dealt, -51% damage taken, and +51% crit chance on top, the results are truly miraculous.

Realistically only a few units can really abuse them, Merlin comes to mind as another easy one. Equipping her with her friendship bonus then putting her adjacent to Lyrica and Lunasa with maybe Yuyuko or the 3 Fairies if they're nearby. You should find she hits almost as hard as the combined unit.

It's pretty much why the Prismrivers are the most damaging unit in 3 because you can have Lyrica force a support attack with her PS from a heavy hitter. Have Merlin follow up with an attack too which hits extremely hard due to friendship then combine and get another free attack with Lunasa. Or even more if she has support attack.

Only other notable ones I can think of are Flandre and Marisa and the PCB cast who have the means to really abuse their bonuses.

Basically it's more of a Lunatic mode thing where you need to squeeze out more damage.

It's a bug caused by this item that gives you an extra move if you kill an enemy.
If you get an extra turn after using a Heat rising attack, it will reset. As you can see in >>17003513 The Heat bar shows the same number that you had before the attack.
But don't use a Heat rising attack for your second move because that one gets checked for real.
Here >>17007640 I used the MAP on my second move so it confirmed that I passed the limit and overheated.

I think they'd do a soft reset yeah. Maybe not retcon? It'd just be a sequel like any other SRW sequel, stuff happened and characters are still around but plenty are retired. I think returning people would be limited to people who actually appeared in the games they're covering (e.g. Sakuya, Youmu, Reisen), people who are easily relevant to them (pretty much anyone related to the Moon when LoLK rolls around, they'd definitely put the Watatsukis in that, Yukari's relevant to Kasen, etc).

I hope Sanbondo moves on and does their own thing. Maybe make a definite version of the series that unifies the mechanics for a single play-through and lets you NG+ with every unit from the start, but...

Honestly I want to see where they go from here. They have tremendous talent and a clear passion, and Dream makes it clear they can easily handle making their own stuff.

FMW has kind of...reached a critical mass point anyways, and it kind of shows in 4. There's a plehtora of times where a older unit is given a new attack or ability with a meager explanation at best because they simply cannot handle that critical mass of units any longer, and a soft reset...well, it wouldn't really be FMW anymore, would it? The entire point of the story was have Gensokyo unify, in true super robot wars fashion, and they'd have to go to some serious pains to explain why many people aren't returning. Combined with the headache-inducing issue of "well then, whose waifus do we bring back..."


Well, Sanbondo made this the last game for a reason and I can respect that. It kinda makes me sound like a dumbass for saying this, but I'm happy they made their dream for us, and I wish the best of luck for them for whatever they do next, be it as a group or as individuals.

I don't think it'd be that hard to justify non-returners - a lot of them are just side characters that barely show up in even the more open print works. Nobody in the underworld leaves the place aside from Koichi who'd be around anyway, and there's a lot of random youkai and such who don't have much of a reason to get involved in the first place. Literally the most popular characters I could see 100% getting the shaft are like, Komachi and Eiki (and Komachi even hung out with Kasen early on so she might come back anyway).

There's a lot of stuff they could clear and a good natural break-off point. Hell, I think they have enough material as-is to make a somewhat smaller but more interleaved plot - I could see the faith war, the Miracle Mallet, and the appearance of frantic fleeing Lunarians all going on at once and then being resolved late in the game in that order.

They should probably wait to see if WaHH and FS end conclusively though, and if the Urban Legend incident actually gets resolved soon though.

Byakuren is just completely off the charts insane, she pretty much waltzes up to bosses with complete disdain for any gimmicks or penalties and attacks on her turn whilst receiving minimal damage in retaliation between her insane HP/Def and barrier. As if that isn't enough she is really dodgy as well.

Reimu isn't even the dodgiest unit in the game anymore, Satori easily matches Reimu in the dodge game. Satori is arguably even better since she can copy any attack in the game irregardless of activation costs but with +400 more power. It does lead to the funny situation of Satori suddenly cloning herself and transforming when it comes to combinations. But used properly it's virtually like having TWO of any unit you want oh and she has Attune as a added bonus.

Not to say Reimu isn't still excellent, she does still have one of the best spirit sets in the game despite a bad SP base...her higher levels of Youkai Buster or S Sky rank do wonders.

But I went through the whole Shinki fight wondering when Reimu would ever get a turn to attack between Byakuren steamrolling her and fearing for Reimu's fragility. Ultimately Reimu never got a turn.

That is just nuts, normally when you get a new recruit you try have them hide out of the way so they don't kill themselves due to having no opportunity to upgrade them. Nope, Byakuren just dives in and slaughters everything without any customization on her debut needing nothing more than a occasional Faith/Replenish.

I know what you mean, I had similar hopes for Shou's new theme. Ibiza's take on the song was one of the only FMW tracks that's ever left me outright disappointed, and played a significant role in my decision to bench Shou through the second and third games. I was holding out hope that she'd get a better arrange when the pagoda upgrade happened, and while the new theme is a definite improvement, it still doesn't capture the sheer majesty of the original. Well tried messing around with burst damage to see what kind of numbers you can pull, obviously too early to do proper trials especially since I haven't even seen the full skill lists or finished the game but what I pulled shows some interesting stuff.

Few notes:
-Hyper Byakuren and Reactor Utsuho have the highest raw weapon power in the game I've seen so far so threw them a bone
-Everyone got a 10 bar weapon upgrade
-Everyone is at 150 pwr, this obviously disadvantages some who scale even higher due to skills
-All attacked the same enemy

Damage:
-Byakuren- 16864 damage
Valor, Belief Lv2, that PS that boosts stats when Enlightened

-Utsuho- 20172 damage
Valor, Shotgun Lv2

-Marisa- 28480 damage
Valor, Shotgun Lv2, Blazing Star, 10 bar MP, +70MP item, that new Danmaku Power PS

-Reimu- 17609 damage
Soul, Shotgun Lv2, Youkai Buster Lv3

-Yorihime- 34767 damage
Soul, +35% accuracy item, Concentrate, Predict Lv2, PS that boosts damage with accuracy

Thoughts:
Tons of room for further minmaxing and some really obvious places where damage can scale even higher.

But with the setups a early glance at least already tells me Yorihime is the new queen of burst damage, I can easily go even further with Mystia/Prismriver boosts.

Reimu hits much harder than I imagined but there isn't much more room to improve her damage. Best you can do is tack on Belief Lv2, but I missed it for almost everyone anyway.

Byakuren has the lowest output however she is one of those who scales like crazy at above 150 power and I suspect Byakuren has one of the highest pool of high lvl friendship boosts, so more can be played with.

Utsuho. I love the dumb nuclear bird, I half-assed it and she still shit out unbelievable damage. Belief Lv2, 200 power are things I'd like to add.

Marisa can probably get even more due to lacking Belief and since she has 2 item slots for MP, I only used one but I have no idea how her new PS scales. Also before you bring up Final Spark it's common fact Blazing Star is stronger.

IIRC, its something like
(Melee/Ranged + Will)/250 * Weapon Power * Valor/Soul/Sacrifice * Damage Multipliers (So stuff like Shotgunning) - (Defense + Will)/250 * Armor.

So basically, Will Limit Break is the most cost effective way of increasing your damage/durability at the same time since it affects both sides of the damage calculation. Belief is also a useful choice but only for characters like Remilia who have movepools that don't focus primarily on one stat (everyone else is better directly dumping their points into Melee/Ranged respectively unless they have absolutely no other skills that they want to take).

That's the thing with Yumemi, she doesn't NEED buildup, because at heart I don't think she can play the role of a true antagonist. Make her a recurring sub boss, like Beck or Timp in the Z series. That way she's allowed to do her thing, while the main plot goes on around her. Whilst Seiga fits the bill as a major re-occurring antagonist she doesn't really fit the bill as a end game, she doesn't have the presence/popularity to have a impact.

Yuuka on the other hand is a staple of the series, former protagonist, basically reps the series and has the backing of ZUN himself as one of the strongest figures. She has a well known personality, character and lore too which is fleshed out as a chaotic neutral.

So even though you know what will happen and see it coming a mile away that 'oh shit' moment never fails to make it's impact.

I don't think there is another antagonist like character in the whole series that can match an act like that. Sariel is a literal who? Yumemi at least has some personality but we again know little about her, same for the likes of Mugetsu, Gengetsu.

Only other characters who'd fit a bill like that who haven't been used would be Kasen given her standing in the lore as a implied creator of Gensokyo.

Also I'd hardly call Yuuka a staple of the series. This is what Yorihime would do before Takemikazuchi on an equally sized target.

Takemikazuchi turns her hit rate into a damage multiplier of (Hit Rate/100) and at 269%, we're looking at a damage multiplier of 2.69x, which then pushes her damage up to 67785 on an equally sized target.

IIRC Yorihime is M Sized, while the ghosts are S Sized, which accounts for the 10% damage difference here.

tl;dr Takemikazuchi is bonkers if you can raise Yorihime's accuracy stat as much as possible.

With Yuuka they seemingly went with Yuuka as a pure true blood youkai approach that she believes in following the natural order. Live now and if everyone and everything that would fade including herself so be it, everything is fleeting and preserving anything is pointless.

If I remember there was even a line in one of the previous games with Yukari even calling Yuuka a truly youkai like youkai as opposed to the more human like Yukari who sometimes forgets she is a youkai.
