WHAT?

Star Ocean 1, at least on the SNES, was a terrible half-finished piece of terribly glitchy shit.

Star Ocean: First Departure is beyond repetitive and only half-fixes the game to Three-Quarter-finished piece of no-longer glitchy shit.
Also, it added annoying-as-fuck Welch Vineyard. Though you didn't have to recruit her.
Still, I AM glad they gave closure to J/Ioshua's story with Eris. In the first one, she vanished and we got NOTHING. Shittiest side-plot end ever.
Also the semi-fix to the development system was useful, but still ultimately tiresome.

Honestly, I hold SO3 in immense regard. EQUAL to SO2. To hell with thee.

Again, the entire point was that the twist didn't matter.

Note Final Boss banter:

"Luther: What are you talking about? The very existence of entities like these is causing massive bugs in the Eternal Sphere itself. Tell me what's wrong with eliminating flawed code?

Fayt: Flawed code? Sure, we might be entities created by your hand. But that doesn't give you the right to decide everything! We deserve the right to live
and die on our own!

Luther: This is ridiculous... You're nothing more than a collection of 0s and 1s.

Sophia: No matter what the real truth is, the fact is we have thoughts and feelings of our own. We want to save our dimension, and everyone in it.

Fayt: She's right! We've come all this way, thanks to the thoughts and feelings of countless people. Allowing you to erase us would betray them all!

Luther: 'Thoughts and feelings'? What rubbish. Your 'thoughts and feelings' are nothing more than fabrications modeled upon our own!"

At least the twist was original god damn.

And hey you can use it to justify escapism and junk and conclude your waifu is real in a 2 dimensional medium.
