meh.

Marina

If for some reason my wife ends up being Japanese or a huge weaboo who wants to give our child a japanese name at all costs, then I'll have the perfect excuse to name her Akiha.

I'd raise her the best I could, and influence her so she keeps her hair long and uses a white headband on it.

Does /jp/ think it's possible to raise a child with the propper manners of a high-society lady in the current middle-class environment?

Interesting thing I just learned. After the Meiji restoration, when Japan was being modernized, most people (the poor ones) had no last names, but the government requiered everyone to have one, so to make it a simple process they let everyone make up a last name, whatever they wanted. So that's why modern Japan has so many last names (i think there are over 100,000 or 200,000 orsomething).

To anon's who want to raise a proper young lady: It's a noble task, but not an easy one. I believe too many parents today are afraid of influencing their children too much, as they're told that their children should learn to think on their own. Good thought, but the problem is that they learn to think like the media and the society tells them too. Marketers are very influential, and they aren't interested in making your daughter a proper young lady, they're interested in making your daughter the kind of person to waste her pocket money on whatever shit they're selling. Marketing is most likely the root of all evil in today's society, and a setback to the ideals of a more intelligent and free society as a whole. This is why people say TV rots your mind, not because it provides too much entertainment, but because of the shit I just told you. Akiha didn't watch TV, and neither should your daughter. Instead, let her play outside, read and watch movies or series you've bought or downloaded. Oh, and try to avoid public schools if you can. They're another cancer of society.

Over the weekend while in a conversation with my brother and father my brother tells me that a friend of his went on a mormon mission to Samoa and saw someone that looked like a boy but he was wearing women's clothes. Come to find out that in Samoa if a child is born and you expected a girl if it turns out to be a boy you simply raise him as a girl anyway.

My father tells me that native Americans had a similar practice where if a child didn't appear that he wanted to be a warrior they would simply put him with the girls and raise him as a squaw.

Interesting stories. Wonder if anyone can confirm

I've chosen not to physically reproduce because of a history of diabetes, cancer, and manic depression on both sides of my family. On the plus side, I have an outsider's perspective on a lot of things, so I can give pretty good advice.

Well, I was raised with some TV influence, but it was a lot less that most of my contemporary generation.
The greatest obstacle to producing a proper lady in the current society would be other children. Discussing TV shows and the like would certainly produce curiosity on my daughter.

It would be quite difficult to produce the perfect conditions to raise a well-behaved daughter, specially due to the lack of enough economic funds. But I'm certainly decided to become a good father, taking an active role on parenting.

I have actually thought about adopting a daughter when I become economically independent if there are no chances of finding a wife.

On the slim chance I'm ever in the position to raise a child, I'll probably adopt. There are many benefits to this, after all. First and foremost, I may not even need a wife, though this is unlikely, especially considering the field of work I want to go into. Other perks include not contributing to overpopulation, being able to get a daughter for sure, and the ability to get a cute daughter (something I couldn't promise if they were my biological children). I'm not arrogant enough to think that my genes are better than anyone else's. I don't even know what standards would be used to determine one's worthiness to reproduce, and I don't think I would be able to objectively judge myself by such standards.

I have thought about having only one kid. Two people begetting one child would still help decrease the overall population, but I'm still not too keen on the idea. Luckily it's not really a problem I'll have to worry about anytime soon, if at all.

Then I'll make it my duty to go outside and have one.

For the sake of all denizens of /jp/, I will have a daughter and name her Alice. I will raise her and ardently dedicate my time in educating her to become a real woman, not your average modern-day slut.

She will drink tea and wear a skirt. She will be cultured and well-versed in literature.
But most of all, she will know of you, /jp/, and how great of an inspiration you were in these dark times. In this day and age, where sluts roam free of consequences and sex has lost all its value, and where men with pure ideals like ours are looked down upon, she will know how to appreciate you.

You have my word.

reporting in, seeing that this thread is still alive.

Day 1: Tried getting attention from a member of the opposite sex, to no avail. Even spoke to one, mid to late 20's, seemingly good genes, but she stared at me instead of replying to my greeting.
The only people who seemed to look my way were the two hookers hanging around the street corner near the McDonald's.
I won't give up though. I came ready to overcome such hardships.

And with that, Day 1 comes to an end.
Expect another report when progress has been made.

You mean pure ideals like treating your daughter as a dress up doll and forcing her to confirm to you ideals(read: fetishes)?

Not to mention dead but then again every major character dies, so that shouldn't affect you much.

Our ideals of a cultured, civilized and refined lady as being pure may seem biased at first glance, but when you witness, as I'm sure you have, today's sorry excuse for a woman (read: slut), then surely you would agree on what is more "pure."
If you call that forcing her to conform to our authority, then so be it. It's much better than to have the child conform to today's societal norm and media brainwashing.
