Maybe this is just general craziness, but I'm considering to buy one of these to print my favourite Miku pictures. Mostly Wokada ones.

It's one of those printers for photographies that do not use ink nor toner, but the paper comes with it's own termal ink or something like that. The size of the print is rather small, but also top quality, and Internet pictures don't come with much resolution anyways.

I've always wondered how tribal the Vocaloid community is in respect to their corresponding Vocaloids.

A good example to what I'm talking about would be Kagaminefags. They're more often than not so very vocal about their fanaticism and that everything else sucks and can't compare, including you for not worshipping the Kagamines as much as they.

When it comes to myself I have no strong opinion about other Vocaloids, they're just things that exists.

I'm so glad of that because I imagine her being adopted in Miku's house after temporarily retiring while Crypton fixes her. She tries to cook and do the housework, but she is clumsy so Miku ends up doing the difficult tasks. Miku don't consider her a burden at all, she is glad to have company and thinks the house have becoming a happier place. What Luka didn't know after moving is that Miku becomes very relaxed at home. After a while of being together she just walked around in underwear or with just an apron, like she did when she was alone. Luka has become very anxious because of this and the days pass while thinking if she should say something and if doing that would endanger their friendship.

Thank you for reading my blog.

It seems like there are some very good active producers (Nayutalien and Maretu come to mind), but there are less and less people viewing the videos in general. It makes sense that not many new producers are appearing. Who would want to release songs for a shrinking crowd? There needs to be a large fanbase for talented producers like wowaka to show up, looking for popularity.
I think they'll do a MM with mostly old favorites, some recycled Project Diva songs, and some hits like Alien Alien. Maybe they'll do Law-Evading Rock, I'd love to see a module for that.

Holy hell, a buddy and me were talking about some old stuff we used to do together and the like, and the topic of vocaloids came up. With his help I was actually able to find a download for the first vocaloid album I ever got, at an anime convention in 2011. Think it was 2011 at least, pretty sure it was. Album was pic related.

That opening hit me like a ton of bricks, it's only been around six years, but it still hit that sweet spot.

I have my favorite vocaloids (it's Rin and Len, actually), but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the others as well. I believe this is the same for most people, since if you like a specific vocaloid you'll probably be into the scene as a whole as well.

I agree with >>16894653 in that the annoying fans are the dumb teenagers, no matter which vocaloid they like more. Even on this board sometimes you see the occasional Mikufag shitting on every other vocaloid like only Miku should exist.

>> No.16899643

People just lose interest in things over time, it's normal. Still, there are tons of new stuff coming out in terms of songs, merhandise, concerts, etc, so I think it's unrealistic that Miku will die anytime soon.

Law-evading Rock is amazing though, been listening to it constantly since it came out... At least Neru is still releasing stuff. Maybe we'll see it on the next Project Diva, who knows.

Idk if you're the specific example I'm thinking about (it was many threads back), but there's so much baiting going on in these threads it's hard to see the difference sometimes.

Again, I think that falls under the "dumb teenager" demographic. Younger fans tend to be drawn towards the Kagamines and Miku, so naturally the worst of the worst fanatics in the fanbase will be fans of those. That's why IMO it's misleading to attribute a specific behavior to a fanbase as a whole, since almost always it's just a specific sect of the fanbase acting like that.

If you met me you would realize that i'm the exact opposite of the "I was born in the le wrong generation" type. Don't read into what i'm posting as some sort of deep philosophical look into me. Me posting here literally comes down to me not being able to find good Vocaloid songs recently.

I have spent at the least 30 minutes a day each day for the past 2 or 3 years browsing songs I have never heard before. Maybe once a year i'll actually spend a whole week's worth of browsing the internet dedicated to just looking for Vocaloid songs.

And logically and statistically it would make more sense for the top songs in the rankings to be the songs that I like, that's why they are top ranked. Generally they are cleaner and more organized than lesser known songs.

>> No.16908617

>>16908443
I think the scene is more homogenous since there are fewer producers now. That's not to say that all the good ones left, just that enough left to make the rest seem repetitive. For example, I think Kurage-P's songs wouldn't sound as samey if he weren't at the top of the charts every time he posted a song. Same with Nayutalien. But there are no other producers around to inject the charts with variety.
Of course, if you're looking for more anime idol pop-y music, you'll have a harder time finding that as well. It has become a lot less popular (or its fans moved on.) Lamaze-P's Rin song with the lines about sour fruit was the last one to give me that vibe.

Yes there are, they just aren't getting the proper attention because there are some people who are content with only the rankings, because they're obviously both statistically and logically better, and doesn't put in the effort of actually searching for new material.

Instead they bicker and complain on a mongolian sewing board about how there are, supposedly, no good songs being released, which might I add is by their own standards.

The fact that some consider that surface as the best the vocaloid community has to offer, only goes to show how much of a lazy ass they are.

Depends on how you define unique and creative, we're still getting the same types of music today and even new kinds are being introduced.

>we're severely lacking in memes
This is very true. The Vocaloid characters don't have as much of a fanmade personality as they used to. I think this in part because of the large number of vocaloids, and also because people are using vocaloids for commercial music more than for the personalities themselves.
This is actually why I love GYARI's music so much:
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm27905394
It's charming because it shows all the vocaloids interacting meaningfully, it's goofy, and it's funny.

The thing about the producers is that the talented ones are few, and vocaloid was new at this point. At this point since it was new most of the producers would have came in at this point. After the good ones got popular, they moved on from vocaloid. Now we just have less fresh blood coming in, and that means less potential for phenomenal producers to really bring in views to the scene. Sure an old popular producer may release a song every once in a while, and a few good ones have stayed like LamazeP, but there aren't many.

>>16909393

And it still wouldn't make sense even if that was the case, because the top songs going back to 2007-2008 numbers when, let's be honest here, the most popular vocaloid is still Miku, is just illogical. How many songs are really even produced per day now anyway? And how many actually using the 30 or so vocaloids that aren't Miku? Using sampling just from vocadb you can tell that it's had a significant drop recently, and it's not looking to get better.

It wouldn't be too farfetched to speculate that there might have been fans that defected from Miku to Yukari, IA, Gumi, Una, whatever, and depending how tribal these various fanbases are with their mindset, can be counted as lost views for every vocaloid.

If 300.000 fans for example fell in love with another UNA, and half of them simply refused to listen to anymore Miku out of principle, then it'd count as a substantial drop in views for Miku despite the fanbase in its entirety remaining the same.

There's no reason to disagree with Miku being the most popular by far, I'm even a Mikufag myself, but without an exact datapoint we can't really predict whether the fanbase is declining or not.

Wouldn't a sum of yearly scores prove that?

>> No.16909617

You're definitely right, but i'm just trying to refute that the actual fanbase itself is growing. I mean you stated 300,000 fans, but we are getting like 600k views from a couple million views. And that's not even accounting for the fact that miku receives the most marketing and always had the largest fanbase.

Not very good news. Still, there's no saying that it won't come back into popularity at some point. There are many people out there, especially westerners, who are nostalgic for vocaloid. Untapped potential.
Also, Len gets a surprisingly low # of points for how popular he is.

I think the true potential about the future of Vocaloid lies in the western fanbase.

For example, the most popular CircusP songs from last year already have 2m views: https://www.youtube.com/user/VocaCircus/videos

googoo888 rips from the PDArcade also gets a lot of views.

And probably a lot of those fans from the western fanbase don't go to NicoNico to find new songs.

>> No.16909828

>>16909816
This is definitely true. It's funny because 2m views is nothing on youtube in comparison. Perhaps we should start uploading songs on channels ourselves to increase the viewer base.

They might have to ditch NicoNico entirely if they want to reach out to the western audiences.

Just compare Lamaze's views on Nico to the ones on Descentsubs, while it's not terrible they're not close to millions.

"Nico is dying" would be an argument if there were some statistics about producers moving over (to Youtube for example)and thus lowering the Weekly Rankings total points.

Although if some producers upload to both sites, the Youtube views/comments wouldn't be calculated, meaning a loss in the Nico points.

BTW here is a link to the Mikudb discord for anyone who wants to join, not advertising or anything, but for those of you who don't know Mikudb is basically a huge website dedicated to downloading and uploading vocaloid songs.

Not every producer starts on NicoNico. Also new producers appear and the old ones go away, not every one of them has to start on NicoNico and then consider to move somewhere else.
Abandoning NicoNico is not the only way to make the website lose users and share in music uploads.

Agreed, a way to aggregate YT views would be very useful.

>> No.16909943

This would be bad because it would detract views from the original videos. Reprints don't support the original uploader. A twitter or tumblr account that posted to links to the official uploads would be more useful, I think.

>>16909943
Well, a lot of reprints on youtube are in Japanese, and therefore english viewers don't usually see them. We just need to translate the titles and link to the original videos, and preferably link to less popular songs that aren't already posted on youtube. This would overall increase the availability of vocaloid,

Anybody know Note@l-tone? pretty decent, his style ranges from some outlandish trippy electronica to an abbreviation of nu-rock, I guess? He can't seem to stick to a style, but sort of created his own in the process, almost like Gorillaz. He's not totally obscure, but isn't quite making it either, give it a shot if you're in the mood.

Miku as a concept of "virtual idol" is still strong, since the otakus who appreciate her for that are incredible faithful to her and diligent to their "hobby".
Music-wise, however, Miku and vocaloid in general have lost and are still losing popularity, as you can see by the low number of views that most songs get, the high number of popular producers who quitted, and the low number of popular newcomer producers (I can only think of Nayutalian, and he isn't even that new).
