Is it closer to Natsuzora or more like the two games released after that? Natsuzora was pretty great.

>> No.16810707

Same.

If you want a shitty self insert go all the way, nameable, no eyes, no voice, many choices and generic good guy personality.

If your MC has a name then give him eyes, pretty sure people would SI easier with a MC having their name than having no eyes which makes them creepy.

Stop hiding their eyes during sex scenes while you are at it.

Nekonade Distortion help.

I played the original years ago. I played Gizmo's route and about tore my computer screen in half with my bare hands. The ending pissed me off so goddamned bad. You don't find the perfect girlfriend you'll ever find then say 'oh this isn't real, I need to go back to reality' leave your perfect girlfriend forever and find a way to go back home. I don't care if he found some random idol that looked like Gizmo I was so fucking pissed. I never even went back to play the other routes, I couldn't do it.

Should I play the sequel? I need to know if he goes back to find the real Gizmo. I need to know he never left her in that world. I need to know wishes on a shooting star can come true in this world. Or is it going to be 'lol, Gizmo's gone enjoy some bitch that looks like her'

Goddamn I loved that silly cat.

Eh, I didn't like Subahibi but I don't want to study philosophy. Nekonade Distortion was at least somewhat enjoyable. The loli mom was cute as hell since the night of shooting stars made her a kid again. I didn't like how she stuck with her husband when he started cheating on her but fucking your own son for emotional support is cute as hell.

I played all the routes in the original but never tried the sequel so I can't answer the original question. I agree the endings were upsetting. The mom realizes he's not from this world but doesn't want to let go. You spend a long time trying to say goodbye. The imouto knows she's been brought back to life by a wish and believes that her life with her brother is temporary.

What was the older sister's problem again? She wasn't pretty before the wish granting stars and I think I kind of remember she had no friends which is why on her route she wants a romantic relationship with her brother, can't remember anything else.

It's not a bad game if you want to avoid the headaches you get from more serious psychological dramas. But especially play it for the loli mom with the regenerating hymen that's a virgin every time he fucks her.

That's completely wrong. Since the little sister died she began wearing flashy clothes and start going out with her friends till late at night, also she had bitchy attitude. After the star fell she went back to how she originally was.
her route had a philosophical view on eternity.
She is my favorite character.
If you are willing to read the sequel I advice you to read the two short fan disk before, they touched on a few nice topics of the original game.

Sakurai has the best h scenes in eroge imo. They actually fit into the plot. And the male protags are always very strong personalities voiced by Furukawa Tetsuto so you don't have to be worried about dumb self inserts.

Right, I wouldn't be surprised by that either. It's why I wrote, that I consider Sakurai female unless Sakurai wants it otherwise.
I don't care about the body, or about some weird social shit regarding who writes the eroge. Not really important here. Honestly, trans writers may actually be the ones most capable of portraying both genders equally, as they kinda have "experience" with both. But this is a messy thing, that I don't want to go too deep into. All that matters in the end is enjoyment, and what I know of Sakurai is definitely worth reading, especially if one wants to go away from the typical eroge a bit.

That's not how it works. If anything they'd have less of a chance portraying either because they're mentally damaged. Gender doesn't give you anything but superficial knowledge on a subject. A female can write better male characters than a guy and a guy can write better female characters than a girl. It doesn't really matter.
Anyhow the point was that it's weird you assume peoples gender because of their writing style. Males making shoujo manga or girly shit isn't anything new. Ikuhara is a male too. Saying
>Sakurai is female. Go figure the rest.

http://www.liar.co.jp/wp_kekka10.html

So while it's not proof, it's definitely the his/her intent.

>>16815863
If I remember the tweet correctly, it wasn't really confirming him/her as male but saying something among the lines of "People often mistake Sakurai's gender" which could mean anything. A lot of people also thought (s)he's male before this so you could interpret it the other way around too.

Also some someone leaked his/her private account, where (s)he supposedly talked like a male.
http://cwsontario.org/12557/
(S)He deleted the account after this.

But this guy argues the low credibility of the source of this claim.
https://twitter.com/shingi_kensho/status/810848933018734593/photo/1

Either way, if (s)he's actually male, doing it for strategic reasons sounds more plausible rather than just being trans.

>If anything they'd have less of a chance portraying either because they're mentally damaged.
You're implying two things here
1. Writers with psychological issues can't portray people properly, which couldn't be further from the truth
2. Identity disorder = Mental damage, which are completely different things

In the end in doesn't really matter.

Finished AstralAir, it took a long time mainly due to boredom but also because the game is really long.

I remember the common route as well as Ochiba's being the most enjoyable, but that may also be because I wasn't bored of the characters yet. The scene in pic related from near the beginning was probably the high point of the game.

The epilogue to Kotori's route stood out in a way that it felt like a different writer, although the rest of her route was on par with everything else. Everything after was sort of just a blur up until the end of Yuuki's route.
I picked up the game in order to masturbate to the loli, so it wasn't really worth it considering I ended up skipping her scenes to get to the ending faster.

I'm wondering if the person messed up their speech and that they are that god's child.

Pretty much describes my experience with a Favorite title. Now and then they will do some foreshadowing but it's not nearly as well done as with other title.

Considering the people he hangs around with, that's very likely not the problem. Also, some of the best posts in this threads have been "pseudo"-structuralist analyses like that guy who praised the harem moege for depersonalizing the heroines,
or the daitosho autists. The issue is not the /lit/-ish engagement but the shallow view of thinking more ornamented themes raises the works to a whole new standard, and everything else, like moege or nukige, become trash. If there's any blatantly visible in the thread's tone is the smug, condescencing attitude. I thought it was just ironic at first but I'm not sure anymore. Now you have this stupid dichotomy where either you look down on heavier works, or you put them on a pedestal.

Actually I can kind of see that since your hormones are raging at the time and if you're really attracted to the person you're probably apt to rush things unintentionally.

But since eroge is all about idealization they should take it slower and show proper progression and such. I mean, if they have certain word/character count quotas to meet, it really baffles me that they don't spend most of that on the heroines' routes and developing their relationship with the MC. It bothers me that a lot of romance games are actually focused on the common route (school life), but when it comes to the routes they always fall flat because the writer ran out of steam with the common route, or maybe he just doesn't give a fuck. I hate that.

I see homosexuals are made fun of or treated like a joke in most things from Japan other than I guess Shounen Ai, Yaoi, Yuri etc.

However Sakura no Uta actually presented it with political issues more than sexualising it how'd you guys feel about it?

I personally hate homosexuals and didn't quite connect with it however was nicely written.

The whole civilized world is constantly leaving old practices and views behind (we don't publicly stone people to death anymore), Japan might be a few years behind in that regard but it's also becoming a political issue there, so it's not weird for it to be reflected in works of fiction.

Sexualizing homosexual couples is a very old thing in Japanese fiction, so I think it's good it gets treated seriously sometimes.

Akikuru also touched the issue recently.

Still pretty much authors who like their yuri anyway though. (so far) So basically, so far we only have a situation where you can somewhat touch the theme without going too far. Harukuru was pretty obvious in that regard as well. Being all "everyone likes everyone", but in the end the girl x girl was only handled as much as the expected otaku is capable of handling.

It's a messy situation. In the west you often start to have some random yuri and/or yaoi option just for the hell of it, which isn't better. But, you can see how stuff is changing. And Japan will get there as well. You can see that in recent years, with some minor nods towards that being given here and there. (Even if it's something like Sanoba Witch, where the respective side-character loses, as she likes one of the heroines, at least she's not "made straight" at the end for the heck of it. As far as I remember it was handled relatively normally.)

Try these patched files. Copy them to the trial installer folder, run installer.exe, install, then copy then patched .exe into the installation folder and run the game. Do NOT use applocale/NTLEA with the installer, for some reason it tries to check the drive if the CD is inserted (???) and it will keep on asking you for the disc forever.

Now for the technical stuff.

Running Setup.exe creates a new .exe file in your temp folder and runs that - this is the installer.exe I provided and patched. You can easily find the locale checks in Buriko if you search for GetUserDefaultLCID, nop the conditional jumps or just make the whole function return 1 in eax, whatever floats your boat. After patching them out I noticed the installer still wouldn't run because for some reason it tries to locate the main window and fails (maybe it looks for the parent Setup.exe process that way). There is a conditional jump right before the offending FindWindow and CreateMutex, patching it to always jump solves the problem. The game .exe doesn't seem to need that patch, only the locale checks.

>> No.16828803

>>16828398

It is a nukige. I'd say it's not worth it if you don't want it for the porn. I myself mostly just ctrl-ed after the ero started. I still think the stuff before is alright and if you don't care about the structure and like the whole "focus on one girl from the very beginning" thing can make it worthwhile. But it IS a nukige in the end. I suppose the ctrl makes it a bit hard to judge how much not ero related there still is, but in the bit I've read of purely cation, I didn't actually just end up skipping everything at some point.. so it's probably even more ero in Koinosu.

Fittingly the ero is also not as vanilla. Though I personally don't really like the art that much myself either. Some of the facial expressions are just weird, and the ero-positions and shit are pretty shitty as well. Like seriously, the penis covering half the image or most of the girl isn't the way it should be.. in my opinion. But whatever, I can't completely judge that stuff, because well.. ctrl.

That said, I think it's decently received on EGS so far.

What MC has no memories of the past and the cake shop that took him is on the verge of bankruptcy because the baker broke his leg, the mayor wants the shop owner to sell his shop because it's one of the few buildings in town that has a full oven and some rich people are pushing the mayor to force the cute girls and grandfather baker out of their home so they can have the ovens in the shop. The reason they cant just build more shops with ovens is because a short chimney wont hold the heat in well enough, and the town is in a very cold place, however it's such a backwater town that no one with the skills to build a 2/3 floor building in the freezing cold lives in the village, making it impossible build a high enough chimney for a full oven. You just have no taste whatsoever. The route was great, and Kana's role in it was perfect. It included her best scenes in the game.
You should learn that good stuff doesn't need to include everything being super happy for the character you like. Sometimes "not so happy" stuff shows the insane strength of the character and makes them shine. In fact, that SHOULD be one of the reasons why drama is even attempted. Unfortunately it's so often just silly shit where characters seem like morons because the author just writes a drama part because they have to.

And if I look at Daito, I can't understand how anyone would even care who the girls hook up with in the end or whatever. It doesn't matter. The romance in it is shit. Senri's route is about her future and friends. Kana's route is also pretty much just about her friendship with Senri. The relationship with the protag takes a backseat until the very end where it's tagged on because it's a moege and they gotta do it or something. A bit surprising this game was actually well received, but I won't complain. I thoroughly enjoyed these two routes. (and a good amount of the game in general)

The ending was fine, what I was disappointed with was the writing. Wataru's evil monologuing really was too much. His word choice in the theater scene were childish and painful to read. "どうした? 早く舞台に上がれ。客が退屈してるぞ". His constant usage of stage, roles, and referring to an audience was over done. When he said "I did it to have fun" I thought it was just to provoke taku, but then I realized he really was just that one dimensional. The only other character soo poorly written was probably Watabe. All the flash back scenes and Taku's childishness was also a sour point for me and pretty much boiled down to not wanting to be looked down on the people he look down on. A childishly hypocritical view, but I guess that is Taku's entire character, childish and hypocritical.

Chapters 1-10 had me on my toes at all time. I would read for hours and not even notice the sun had gone down, or sometimes that it had come up! But chapter 11's pacing was horrible. Partly because the writers felt it was necessary to explain everything twice, once in dialogue and again in narration, sometimes a third time in Taku or Serika's thoughts just in case the reader didn't get it. No other part of the story babysat the reader this way and I really felt it. I was also tired of everyone crying after every line. The story was very entertaining but not emotional in anyway for me. I like the way Yui's death was written, it was short and the mourning was short and characters were drained but the story went on. Yui's death didn't linger in the text much, instead the mood changed, nothing ever felt the same but there was no need to voice it. The way Nono hated herself for being able to think so clearly even after what had happened was an excellent little touch. However, the crying and over dramatization in chapter 11 went in the opposite direction and soured the last bit of Over Sky end for me. It became monotonous and repetitive, I felt like I was reading Ryukishi07.

I really liked that "delusion" or whatever during the climax, which was long and entirely pointless as you'd know exactly what would happen in it the moment it started.

Are you talking about the delusion that wataru puts him in? That is essentially the scene from FSN where Shiro breaks out of angra manyu's curse with Saber's help then kills Kotomine. The parallels did not escape me, taku even starts projecting swords, which was another pointless scene.

I mean, one shouldn't look too strongly for what's needed and what isn't, but sometimes there's just not the time to include a random 30minute filler.
It's a shame, too, as there is an interesting concept in the finale. But that's only like the last 5 minutes. Wrong priorities.

Pretty much never happened for a full work, due to typical VN structure. Even if a route is absolutely to my liking, it won't take more than a day or two to finish anyway, and then you have credits rolling and can maybe restart the story and play another route. But that's still a reset and you are essentially done with what you really liked and only other stories are there waiting for you. Even if there's some overall theme or whatever being built, like in Baldr Sky, the reset still has quite a bit of impact as the story isn't really directly continued, but many general events happen again even if some details may change. Usually that is.

So yeah, the medium isn't really built for that, for the most part. And I do consider it a weakness to an extend. Even if the "elevator" structure is chosen, you still have relatively long character arcs which are usually mostly self contained and strongly focused on a certain girl. And as such there are almost always highs and lows, just like with more normal routes, even though in theory it's a linear story.

I think the closest to this was 999 for me, although it includes gameplay, so it's not a pure VN. You do have a few playthroughs, but the game has no traditional heroine centric routes or anything like that, and worked quite well. Funny enough, the sequel kinda changed that and was overall a far weaker experience, for other reasons as well though.
Aside of that, I'm mostly get hooked to things including gameplay. Those games usually have a much clearer single goal a good amount of time away. Legend of Heroes Cold Steel 1. Rance 01 + 02. Last months Noroi no Maken. I'd say I got pretty hooked to all of these "recently". And the story isn't really the reason in any of them. (I suppose it's somewhat part of Cold Steel, but not at all in the other ones, especially not in case of Noroi no Maken)

I fallen for a video game it's rune factory 2, and it's perhaps one of my favourite games of all time, yet being pretty shoddy.
A man comes to town with no memory he makes friends with the villagers and builds his farm, falls in love and leaves in the middle of the night for some reason.
It's so romantic, comfy and yet incredibly cheap and lacking as a game.

I want a VN that I fall in love with but I feel that just reading and not really interacting like a game makes me not really fall for it.

I got into VNs from cute songs involving stars and Japanese songs. I guess I want a game where a I fall in love with the characters.

Even for most games I find it's hard to pull it off. Probably recently I got this feeling from Yakuza 0. I pretty much loved almost every character from the game, or the series in general really.

But I'm getting off topic. For VNs, I would have to say something like Girls Be Ambitious. I know it's not highly rated or popular but to me it had really great characters, both female and male. It's basically the group of friends dynamic done very very well. They feel very close and tight-knit and it might scratch that comfy itch you're looking for.

However I didn't I guess fall in love with it. I don't really know how to explain. Maybe it's something that touches on an issue that you feel a connection with like a sense of belonging or who you are, or maybe it appeals to your sense of high adventure or romance.

Their games aren't nukige (for the most part) so it's not 80%. I guess if you aren't at least a bit M Mugen Kairou would be hard to enjoy but stuff like Mindead is universally enjoyable imo

So they really force a "relationship" with the bot in Trinoline first? My god. What a stupid idea. Doubly so, because they obviously fucked that plotline up from the beginning.

So, the author(s) found these awesome awesome "Three Laws of Robotics", and figured "hey let's include these in our story about a robot that's created to be as close to humans as possible". Without even realizing, that these are for robots. And not androids who are supposed to be like humans. After all something that follows these can't be human. (self-preservation is NOT the least important thing for humans, as a very simple example, nor would any human ever do literally everything you tell them..)
It's just another typical case of people not knowing much to anything about computers, AI and so on and just fail to get the basics right for such a plot, so it's all just a mess. Including silly behavior of the protag. When you see an android masturbating in front of you, you PROBABLY should check back with its maker because something is obviously very very VERY wrong.. he did the opposite.

Hah. Expected. Still, sad.

dude you are playing a porn game about romancing a "robot" not a scifi or philosophical novel.
I tried a bit of this game and found the writing pretty dull. While I hate to use this word, I felt like the drama was forced down my throat.

Yeah, I don't know why they try to do more complicated themes if they're not going to implement it seriously. I mean the presentation looks like it is going to be handled in a mature manner but then you read it and find out different. Why don't they just make a light-hearted game with a robot instead? I really don't get it.

They intend to be serious about it and fuck up. If they don't bother looking at it seriously, then that's fine. If they act as if they do, they should do it completely. It's kinda like >>16842185 said.

The drama feeling forced is ultimately a result of that as well. Not thinking things through. Probably because of 4 authors as well. Kinda goes hand in hand.. usually. There are some right ideas (i.e. the bot not being the sister from back than, but something else), but it's pretty badly executed. I even think part of what it does kinda well it does well by accident. There's a scene where the bot plays piano, and the mother goes on about how she liked how the actual girl back then wasn't so good at the piano, and she feels complicated about it. As if she's unable to accept "growth" or whatever. While this is just a typical android thing. If course the android doesn't do the mistakes of the actual girl. Of course it would never ditch practice or be selfish or not want to play when asked. It's an android. But that's not clearly stated. And in the end it just feels like that was never something the author(s) wanted to show there. So it felt random.

In a way, you're right. He's like that for at least the common route. I think Ashley is a much safer protagonist than Zephyr. Whereas Zephyr genuinely surprised me at times, Ashley generally doesn't do anything weird or off.

But hey, it's nowhere near the voiceless, faceless protagonists of moeges.

Absolutely, I agree! I loved him. Great chemistry with Vendetta and Chitose, too.

Photo Kano for the vita. Literally fell in love. The writing, the characters, the pacing was all there. More than anything it reminded me of high school and taking pictures with my friends, as well as taking me back to when I would exchange lewd pictures with girls in my school. I never felt soo immersed in a game before. It was one of the few gakuen games that made me feel like a teenager again.

My only complaint was the sound quality and soo few bgm tracks.

It sometimes fucks up during the installation because it downloads some stuff and the connection is terrible. You don't run that piece of shit by itself, you just go to clubbox.co.kr, find something you want in the search box, click on it and then click on the blue button on the left - it should open the software. If it doesn't open under a civilized browser you will need to click on this under IE. Korean locale and date setting were needed for something, I forgot what it was. Damn, I need to write a guide for you guys.
