I only do A because I don't care about ranking. I used a variety of comps to grind dupe Souryuus there:

1CV / 1BB / 2CA / 1CV(L) / 1SS
1CV / 1BB / 3CA / 1CV(L)

The last two are what I used the most because I wanted to level my neglected CAs, dupe Mikuma/Kinugasas, and dupe CLTs while I was grinding Souryuus.

I had a two fleet rotation. Battle, wait for morale to hit 41+, battle again, then rotate everyone except the flagship who should have 49~ morale as long as they keep getting MVP.

20.3(2) / 15.2 Twin / seaplane / T22 RADAR on max mod Kai CAs.

I used two +4 20.3(3) on max mod non-Kai CAs, and on weak ones like Aoba and Kinugasa.

+4 20.3(3) / minisub on max mod Kai CLTs.

Fighter/Bomber / fighter / fighter / Saiun on the lone CV(L).

Murata / Tomonga / T97 Tomonga / SCAMP on flagship CV.

And then I used this for when I was grinding BBs a long while back:

The difference will be a far smaller gap between people who just play the entire day while doing other things than just 5-4 and people who do only 5-4. Which could be adjusted in other ways, to make spamming the same map over not rocket you to the top compared to, say, doing an EO you thought you wouldn't do this month or some hard quest.

In short, if the highest and lowest rank decreases in their difference, it allows for a bigger competition. And if more quarterly rank quests are added (after a ranking overhaul) , they will be the determining factor of whether you win this month or decide to use it on the next.
