I think culture also plays a large role. In Japan most people have some idea about kig through stage shows or mascots, thus it isn't seen as super weird or cringy and there're actual community events (wasshoi for example). Compared to the west, you wouldn't want to put too much effort in if everyone just views you as some creepy autistic dude either way.

You can just buy a capacitive gel off amazon and apply it to any fabric you want to make capacitive. Its what they do with cheap capacitive gloves. Anyglove is a brand; it wears off over time (quelle suprise) but is likely the simplest solution.

There's also sort of capacitive thimbles (for lack of a better term) to put onto gloves; conceivably, if the fabric is thin enough, wearing one under zentai would suffice.

Finally, if your skin tone is similar enough to the fabric, you could consider a relatively small hole around the apex of each finger pad, that will suffice.

I figured being a photographer would be the defacto way of networking and meeting kigs, and I do amateur photography myself, but coming from the toxicity of the cosplay scene and its photographers, it makes me a bit apprehensive to say the least. Especially when kig drama also does exist. Ah well maybe I'll meet a really chill bro anon by chance that I later discover or confides to me is a kig (just like my animes em i rite ;-; ).

Also based out of California. Do you mean it feels imposing to approach them ? Things are typically as awkward as you make them. I typically just ask for a picture and tell them I appreciate performance and transformative art (mind you I typically only speak to the handler so i dont disturb the performance). Having a background in the arts has taught me how to engage in small talk in convention/exhibit settings.

There are a few kigs I know in California Sofa and Nico being the two most active ones. Sofa in northern and Nico in south. Also Sofa regularly wants people to visit him

Tbh I'd love if anyone would want to visit/talk/Handle/do whatever with me ;-; but honestly go up and say Hi to kigs! We like it (most people) and hell as long as you don't act too autistic you should be fine. Sucks cause not very many people seem to like kig or they don't know what to do when meeting one. Then again I just started this so what do I know XD. But really as long as you don't act like a degenerate you should be ok. Also offering to photograph/handle is a good idea but you will probably have to have a good relationship ship with a kigu first before anything else desu. In other news have a shit photo
