I mean, there are definitely enough people with stupid belief in the supernatural to believe Sumireko - I myself have some goddamn stupid beliefs, after all - so really all that would need to happen would Sumi would need to post on chink /x/ or some shit about Gensokyo and about a magic spell she learnt while there or something, and eventually after people tested it, it would be discovered that Magic is real.

Assumptions based on what would happen in the real world doesn't apply to Touhou, hell if anything that was ZUN discarding the possibility of Sumireko telling anyone about Gensokyo would matter at all. It's a literary device at best.

Nobody complains about Akyuu writing about the occult and youkai transformation, despite becoming a youkai being against the rules, cause nobody pays attention to it.
