"Almost entirely narration" is a bit of an exaggeration though. It's about the same as every other NVL format VN I've played. There's a good chunk of dialogue in there. And voiced dialogue being easier than narration is true for like, everything. The writing style was indeed quite grandiose but it's far from the unconquerable beast that I thought it would be after how people talked about it. As said, the bits of C+C/IMA I've read are much harder imo. It's good to hear it gets easier after the intro though, I might attempt the full game sooner than I thought,

You can tell it on things like your 子, font 子 has the line going straight down but handwritten the descending stroke is more curved like this. If you're really worried about you're handwriting you may want to look up the stroke orders and pay attention to the curves and such you would normally ignore.

Pretty readable, but boring. If you want to get some flow going on, first thing you need to know is stroke order - I'm assuming you already do.

Then, maybe you could try an exercise I enjoy sometimes: write whole kanjis with a single stroke.

It might end up looking like shit, but you will notice patterns of movement in it that you can later apply to less messy extents.

Here are a few examples. Doing it with a brush or something with pressure variation (like digital) can also help, at least initially, to explore the "personality" of each kanji to better suit your tastes.

Your stroke order doesn't have to be 100% correct, but it had to follow the general principles of stroke order. You can acquire the general principles of stroke order naturally by memorizing the correct stroke order for a small number of kanji, maybe 20 or so. 1. Kana should always be around 70% the size of kanji when written together
2. Simpler kanji should be smaller and more complex kanji should be larger (10% change)
3. You lack speed/commitment in your strokes. Write each stroke quickly so it doesn't end up squiggly.

Extra credit:

Is there any site that breaks up kanji into kanji/words rather than parts?

For example: 蹄
Jisho tells me that the left radical here is 足, but it doesn't tell me what the right is. It only gives the single parts. Basically I want something to tell me it's 足+帝. And I know you can search for the right using those parts provided, but it would save quite a bit of time.

Syntax isn't something you use to figure out what things mean. You figure out what things mean based on the patterns you already know, and context, and a little bit of common sense. Then you apply what you think they mean to the syntax and see if or why it works. Not the other way around.

That's the reason you think that there being so many uses of と is confusing. In practice, it's never actually confusing, because they only overlap in pathological situations. You can't exactly be taught where they're actually used, you can only pick it up by seeing them a lot, which is why focusing on syntax is so silly.

Why would you learn vocabulary without Anki? It is the most efficient way. If your reviews piled up like that you either had too many new cards or your retention rate is shit. Personally after I am done with my decks I do a custom study deck with all forgotten cards and repeat it until I can do all of them without effort. Humans adapt REALLY quick to comfort zones.

Most people fail because they decide to take "one day off" once, then it creates a precedent for taking days off in the future and suddenly big hiatuses happen.

Same goes with lowering your threshold: give it 3 days and you will already be used to, say, 10 cards being your new ceiling. So whenever life gets at you, you will lower it to 5 or 0 "just today", and get back to 10, thinking you're fine, when 10 is already a reduction from 20.

Well, the "one day off" was pretty much because the workload at uni increased or because of semestriel exams and I was too tired to open Anki and grind these hundreds of cards.
I'll do another try with 15 new cards a day, it's "only" 25% less than before, but it may be way more bearable and easier to schedule after work.
Also I -only now- discovered there was an Anki app for Android, it will be WAY more convenient to study in transport and all.

is it wise to skip katakana and come back to it after I've learned the grammar? It took me two days to drill all the hiragana into my head, now I can effortlessly write and read them, and I'd rather do something productive with my newly found knoweldge to drill it even further into my almonds.

と is backwards.
う is not curvy enough.
よ doesn't curve up at the end.
や is all sorts of fucked up.
It's hard to tell if your やゆよ are small or not (とうにょうびょう).
The first stroke in か should be hooked at the end, not curved.
You're forgetting the last stroke on お.

Handwriting is pretty much its own thing, but these two are common in manga and seem to throw off a lot of beginners. そ and ロ, if you couldn't guess.

Anki automatically buries sibling cards (cards made from the same note) so they don't show up on the same day. This has nothing to do with you being bad.

Also, stats for "learning" and "young" cards do not matter. If you're at 36% for mature cards then you're doing something horribly wrong

Listen comprehension is best done by brute force. Just listen to shit you don't understand until you can make out words and understand more and more.
It's better to use interesting stuff instead of shit like NHK because it can be real tiring to listen to NHK the whole day.
