The song is about a little sister wanting her big brother to give her a kiss instead of presents or candy because she wants to feel more like a grown-up.

It's called "Chuu shite kurenakya yada yada!" which would be loosely translated to "If you don't kiss me I'll pout" or so. Yada yada is a reaction to something one is uncomfortable with or dislikes.

Twinkle mostly has heartwarming lyrics with a small hint of innuendo from time to time, nothing lewd like that.

Holy fuck, that song is good. I never downloaded any of the mmbk + miko albums because I thought they were going to be disappointing like some of the newer chiimu albums but this is pretty great.

Anyway I'll give a background on the context. オタサーの姫 (otasa no hime) literally, "princess of the otaku circle" is one of the few girls in the otaku community. So it doesn't matter if she's the ugliest girl in the world, a lot of the otaku will flock to her and treat her like a princess. MMBK plays this role in the song. She's basically a 構ってちゃん (kamatte-chan), what the Japanese like to call an attention whore, but the term is not as vulgar in Japanese of course.

miko's role in the song is the one who wants to expel MMBK and all the otaku who flock to her. She calls these fake otaku リア充 (riajuu), or the "normalfags" who keep giving her attention.

In short the song is pretty much an all out war between MMBK and her followers vs. miko and the real otaku who want to banish MMBK from the community.

It's pretty relatable as you can see even on anonymous imageboards, when girls show up everyone flocks to them. So you can imagine what happens in real life when these girls show up, and how certain types of otaku will flock to them and treat them.

Hearing riajuu in the song made me curious about the rest of the lyrics. I assumed that it was about some sort of war between otaku and riajuu, and perhaps that the otaku were tired of being ridiculed and decided to completely stop caring about public opinions, via the line "I want to enjoy my life", as if to say "say what you want about us, we just want to enjoy ourselves despite whatever stigma is associated to our culture". It is my favourite song on the album by far.

I don't understand, if the person went out of their way to give you a very in-depth explanation of the lyrics and yet that isn't good enough, you want to milk the resource at the potential expense of their willingness to contribute again and again in the future. This doesn't seem like a fair dinkum statement to me. She must not really be denpa, then.

There might be something to be said about the 'genuineness' of denpa when you look at certain types of releases, such as what could be dubbed 'voice actress' denpa where a composer central to a circle uses the same singer(s) or a rotation of various singers, as opposed to these solo vocalist releases where usually multiple composers produce the songs—and also maybe not bring their best material.

In some cases there is the same winning combo of single vocalist & composer, but these can also be some of the least exciting releases. I think this is where excitement goes into something more like idol appreciation and popularity fervor, and the focus on music really gets blurred by the listener in this mindset. Perhaps there is a lot less creativity to get by with, and composers know it, when an individual's name is the main focus of the release.

How did you guys discover denpa?

I found out that the anime trope of girls out of touch with reality called them denpagirls, so I looked it up, because I love this type of character. Wikipedia told me that there is something called denpa song, so I checked it out and immediately fell in love. Only then did I find out that denpa is discussed on the jay. Until a few years ago I didn't pay any attention to denpa threads on here.

I just watched a lot of anime and over time gained a taste for the cute high pitched vocals in OPs/EDs. I especially liked the ones that were kind of over the top and interesting and that eventually lead to me finding out what denpa song was. Later I saw a Japanese music/denpa thread on /mu/ and downloaded a Toromi album (トロヅクシ) that someone shared. I liked it a lot (I still like that album a lot it's great) and things went from there I guess.
