Perhaps you're not into the genre, but the almost 90's-esque dance pop (reminds me of Kylie Minogue, among others) is really great to me. Most of his stuff is fun dance music that it's nice to move to. It's not deep, it's not truly emotional or "significant", but it's undeniably good.

The thing is that append doesn't work well as on-stage costume. It's way different from original Miku and latter Miku designs, it lacks Miku's original charm. Also it's too revealing for something an idol would wear on stage, so it simply looks less cute.

These thousand costumes weren't box art. Original Miku, V3 and V4X all are very similar and are very characteristic of Miku. Append was very different, it was an attempt to try something new and it clearly didn't worked out.

Personally when it comes to otaku medias I'm the sort of person who always enjoys everything he consumes, or at the very least rarely have regrets, even things that are often considered clichés or mediocre, so for that reason I might not be the best person to ask and I'd rather not recommend anything by fear you end up regretting buying them.
So far I've barely read LNs too, I'm more of a manga/VNs person when it comes to read, so if you're the sort of person who reads a lot of them your standards might be different than mine.
