As a bug lover, I find it fascinating how Japanese kids are into bugs.

And not just boys, but girls who you'd expect (in the west) to be afraid of bugs, and they're not.

I also noticed while staying in Japan how casual people are about their homes being infested with cockroaches. Like it's not a big deal.

I hate killing cockroaches. Almost had one fall on my brothers head the other day. They make a mess, that disgusting crunch noise, the force that you have to push to kill them; I hate it.

I don't like bugs.

When I was a kid my family lived in a cheap apartment that got infested by cockroaches every year. You'd go to the kitchen for a midnight snack and turn on the light and there would be a loud rustling as bugs would run and hide. No amount of roach motels was ever enough.

Fuck cockroaches. And fuck Cockroach-tan, too.

Interesting thread. As far as I can tell, there are two types of people in /jp/:

1) Those who identify with the bugs as lower than trash, and, seeing themselves, cannot kill them

and

2) Those who identify with the bugs as lower than trash, and, seeing themselves, have to kill them as viciously as possible

As for myself, I definitely fall into the latter category. I torched an ant colony in my kitchen with a deodorant and a lighter.

I don't identify with them or look down on them. I prefer not to kill them, but I can't coexist with some of them. So if a spider or a house centipede infringes on my personal space and pushes me into a corner, it's getting smashed by a hardcover book or a PS2 game case or something.
