Reimu is really a pretty fucking excellent villain, rampaging her way through the series while dealing out random thrashings and even death sentences with her unmatched powers, falling back to her supposed heavenly mandate for justification. She starts out looking like a hero, but the doubts of the players grow and grow with every unnecessary act of violence and every "villain" depicted as a cute and funny rascal, and eventually the player becomes desperate to see her take a fall.

Then comes Touhou 17: Bitch Gets What She's Got Coming, where a united front of the top-ranking Youkai, led by a team of Ex-Alice and disillusioned Marisa, face her in the battle of all time.

ZUN is a genius.

The last Touhou will once again have Reimu and Yukari join together as a team, undoubtably another incident will occur like always and they'll sort it out. Then you'll fight'll fight the extra boss, who REGUARDLESS is Yukari again, each with a different extra ending, only if you play as Yukari/Reimu, you'll get their true end. Maribel will wake up and realise she was Yukari all along and that dream world she goes to in her sleep is entirely in her dreams, living out a fantasy. As her flesh seared and bones turned to dust, the excruciating light was replaced by darkness. A quiet, empty, and all too familiar darkness.

Phantasmagoria Lost

Remilia has grown weary of her gilded cage. Not only her satin-draped mansion, but the world in which it sits. Inside the house, her word is law, but outside she is under the thumb of the scions of Hakurei. And kneeling before mortals is not something vampires are want to do.

But she knew all too well that battling the shrine maiden alone would be futile. Even her sister, in whose presence even gods trembled, was no match for the red-white. However, she thought, such battles had always been one-against-one. What if the scales were tipped in her favor?

And so she sent her loyal dog to the far corners of the world to seek out allies. All of the most vicious and depraved beasts, starved for human flesh, were invited to what would no doubt be a glorious banquet of ecstatic carnage. And on the arranged day, as a brilliant harvest moon hung in the sky, the wicked hordes descended upon the rustic shrine.

All manner of claws and fangs and horns tore through the wooden walls like they were nothing. A thousand unearthly howls echoed through the mountains as the black swarm approached the shrine maiden of Hakurei. But she did not respond. She only sat at her table, and drank her tea, as if totally ignorant of her surroundings. The beasts did not hesitate - they lunged towards the girl with their gaping maws anxious for the supple flesh that awaited them.

Touhou finale will end with an epic battle between Aya, who's really Lord Tenma is disguise, and Reimu. Lord Tenma had always been around behind the scenes since the very day Gensokyo was created, barganing with the great dragons along with the other youkai. A bargain he remembers. A bargain he calls on the dragon to fulfill.

Gensokyo must have a balance between humans and youkai. If one human goes too far, then more extreme measures must be taken. Reimu will find her god is not as immaterial as many think. And he's unhappy.
