You need to get into the mentality that humans don't know what we know. They're being manipulated and know basically shit about how Gensokyo works.
If humans were to see youkai as purely dangerous and bad, they'd try to remove them. With this sort of brainwashing media instead they think that they're bad, but also necessary for whatever reason. While the truth is that only youkai need humans and not viceversa.

You could compare Gensokyo's situation to how the URSS worked.

Youkai are "necessary" for the village's continued existence because they vastly outnumber and overpower the humans living therein, and without the "permission" or "grace" of the youkai, it could very quickly be wiped out, either by natural disaster (as seen in the previous chapters) or by youkai themselves.

Of course, what humans don't know is that the youkai would never do such a thing, as their own existence is dependent on the constant inflow of human faith from the village.

She was pretty boring in her orginal appearances but now she's a pretty neat character

Nuts to that, I think people just have bad taste.
I've loved the heavyweight newcomer since TH13 and was very happy at her immediate inclusion in Hopeless Masquerade.

She gets a lot of cool costumes, fulfills a trickster role that's counterpoint to Yukari's G-man persona, mentors some of the other youkai characters, and provides an optional protagonist that's more loaded with history than baggage.

Her color scheme is pretty incredible and something I would personally wear, and her jaunty theme song makes for great vocal arranges.

8/10 would waifu

Reimu has killed the people who turn into youkai, Marisa is no natural ally to humans, the emperor is fucking off in a pocket dimension leading on a bunch of ascetic wizards when she isn't selling overpriced sin avoiding gimmicks in town, and nearly everyone else is on Team Youkai.

Every demon who comes to town is monitoring potential rebellion, and Yukari has house spirits watching every domicile in town for exactly those thoughts.

Rebellion from within simply can't happen and anyone from outside who tries stirring shit is going to get Tengu'd or worse.

Any rebellion chapter would be either about some edgy kid getting put in his place, a rebel leader getting removed and replaced with a tanuki, or like...druggie Aragorn having to change his meds.
