Special /int/ FAQ:
>What's the point of this thread?
For learners of Japanese to come and ask questions and shitpost with other learners. Japanese people learning English can come too I guess.
>Why is it here?
The mods moved us here and won't let us go anywhere else.
>Why not use the pre-existing Japanese thread?
The cultures are completely different.
>Go back to /a/

Otaku Culture
1. All images and discussion should pertain to light and visual novels, figures and other otaku paraphernalia, Touhou Project, Vocaloid, doujin works and music, and diverse niche Japanese interests (kigurumi, idols, mahjong, tea).
2.This is the appropriate board for the discussion of Japanese visual novels and light novels. Western visual novels should be posted to /vg/, and translated visual novels are fine on either board.

actually, to read Japanese novels correctly, learning and discussing about Japanese language in each situation are necessary for other countries people as if it concludes some anime sentences while they discuss.
I can't understand why djt is deleted here.

>> No.16210950

>>16210922
/mu/ already has a general problem of their own so dumping 6 new generals all of a sudden on them would be kind of dickish.
JAV already has recurring threads on /hc/ or /gif/. The one here is used mostly for recommendations and for posting SFW pics of the actresses, which could be perfectly be done on /hc/
Monster Girl belongs on /trash/ with its greentext and ERP but good luck convincing them to move, they seem to delude themselves into thinking they are good posters.

Also you forgot to mention how the gravure threads should go on /s/

>You are not entitled to not have djt on /jp/
This is the unjustified sense of importance which ended up getting you kicked out of /a/, because you didn't give a shit about the board or the board rules. Now you've forced your way into /jp/, knocking a thread off the board while carrying that same unwarranted sense of importance. This is the reason why /a/ didn't want you. This is the reason why even /int/ didn't want you. This is what happens when mods protect a completely off topic general for years: it allows the filth to forget their place.

No because they don't pander to learners in that thread. And yes, many people on /a/ were masquerading as better japanese speakers than they were, giving faulty linguistic advice more than proper advice. I do suspect the BRs sonce they were the angriest ones with the move and the bad advice giving ceased for the most part on /int/, replaced with great advice from nips, possibly ones visiting from the other /int/ thread.

Therefore, /int/ was actually fixing how shitty /a/'s /djt/ had become, and now you guys want to go back to that shit by moving it here. You guys are really delusional and are the actual reason /djt/ has been going to shit during this past year.

If someone wants to discuss untranslated VNs, they want use the untranslated VN thread. If they're tired of being bullied for asking dumb questions like "what's an easy VN to get starteed with" or "I pulled this line with ITH but still don't know what it means" they can use /vg/ or make their own visual novels for beginners thread.

There's no need to make a clubhouse for the exclusive use of discussion of [anything] by DJT users. People should use topic threads.

It's obvious that you don't care about neither DJT nor the エロゲスレ, so I don't see why I, a regular of both threads, should waste my time explaining, or why you're here at all, but fine. エロゲスレ is for discussing untranslated VNs, not Japanese. Period. Every time someone asks a Japanese-related question, they're told to ask on DJT instead. In fact, we discussed this in the last thread: >>16183471

Do katakana names that are not Nipponese also hold stigma? How about inventing compounds that preserve reading and are not kirakira, but were never matched before?

>>16215958
Well if you're from a foreign country and have a foreign name it's fine, but I don't think it's considered proper to give your child a katakana name if you're native Japanese. As for the second one, it would probably depend on the specific name whether it sounds weird or not.

Irrelevant, as they learn them over so many years that any method would do. Utilizing something similar to RTK (doesn't have to be RTK) is nothing but helpful and makes the task managable in a much shorter time frame. You're very unlikely to stumble upon something more effective than some sort of system involving progressive (pseudo-)radical order, mnemonics, and spaced repetition.

>> No.16216137

>>16216032
It's worth noting that learning to memorise and write every kanji by heart is, as you've noticed, an enormous amount of time and effort, and really not necessary in this day and age. Unless there is some particular reason you need to handwrite, you are much better off simply learning to recognise the kanji by sight through drilling vocab and reading lots, and not worry about production.
Even a significant number of Japanese people have trouble handwriting any uncommon kanji nowadays, due to never needing to. So they learn them all in schools and then forget them afterwards.

>> No.16216150

>>16216032
Anon, as a mnemonic hater myself, I understand you.

What I always suggest in this case is studying 1-nen kanji (about 80 kanji taught in 1st grade) and MAYBE 2-nen/3-nen if you feel like it.

Learn them well - stroke order, meaning, basic readings.

After that, you are pretty much already used to the writing system and will be able to see radicals when they show up on other kanji.

1-nen kanji are baby-easy and show up everywhere as radicals too.

This won't save you from forgetting how they're written, but it will surely help with visually understand the mishmash of strokes at new kanjis.

That's exactly what I mean.
The whole reason DJT was originally on /a/ was because anons were learning Japanese for that sole purpose.
There's a big cultural difference between anons learning for consumption of otaku entertainment and normalfags that want to learn for normalfag reasons and this difference is a very big factor into why there is so much shitposting on DJT as a whole.
I think having a separate thread on /jp/ on /int/ could make everyone happy (hypothetically) because weebs can go to /jp/ and talk about learning through their Japanese sex games and normals can blog about their dreams of going on vacation to Japan or whatever they do on /int/.

The problems with that though is if we have crossboarding normalfags (eg: you) coming here to blog about their lives.

I agree with this. The problem DJT had was we were too good, too effective in learning Japanese, which meant people who wanted to learn for shitty normalfag reasons ended up joining because they wanted to share in our success. Well, in children's materials or really difficult material not everyone knows the kanji for.
