I thought it was an overly difficult shmup with poor graphics and game mechanics.

Varies from person to person. Most people are secondaries and only play the fanmade games (the RPGs seem to be the most popular) or look at fanart or stuff like that. But the more hardcore people generally stay for the games. And basically everyone that is into touhou listens to the music.

ZUN flat out admitted he started 2hu for music. Honestly listening to the music probably makes you as much of a primary as playing the games, as long as you, like, listen to all the albums and stuff.

I think ZUN actually can draw to a certain extent but he keeps drawing on ZUN style for whatever reason. Looks at TD portraits, back then /jp/sies even got worried the next games would start getting generic anime art due to how polished the style got there, instead we got DDC that was some sort of step back. I wonder if ZUN did that on purpose.

Many, many games had incredible music though the history and while it's a fact Undertale has that kind of music you have zero reason to compare it to anything knowing it's reputation and that since you are obviously not ignorant about neither touhou or undertale we can assume you said it on purpose for (you)s.
