The question is why would japan spend a ton money on a practically useless airplace in their situation, i really dont think they need the best Superiroty fighter in the world, japan has only North Korea to worry about and north koreas airforce is made of Mig-21. I don't know what that movie is, give me a summary.

Anyway, I've been arguing for years that military spending is a waste of money because imperialism is dead. A country needed a strong military in the olden days, because if they were too weak, they would be invaded by a stronger power to take all their resources and land.

But the way the world is set up now, it is NOT okay to randomly conquer a country. A giant coalition of UN nations would send forces to stop them. See: Iraq invading Kuwait, getting its ass handed to them.

Go ahead and bring up Russia vs Georgia. Russia actually had a good reason for going into Georgia, and it was NOT to conquer it and take all their shit. Let's say Russia went nuts and randomly invaded, I don't know, Poland. That would not be okay, and many nations would team up and stop them.

I should have died that day. But I didn't. I dragged my wounded body and reached ground zero of the nuclear detonations. A barren, empty land. I felt an unbearable sadness when I witnessed that landscape. There were still people living there. They were the ones that saved me.

It may be true that the world has no need of borders. But would getting rid of them really change anything? The world won't change for the better unless we trust people. Trust is vital in a peaceful world. But that will never happen. I'm still on the battlefield. Right now I'm near a border. I want to see for myself what borders really mean and what their volition really is. I may not find what I'm looking for, but I still want to try. Anyway, that's what I've come to believe, and I think that's enough.

>> No.1609408

>>1609374

Yeah, I'm not saying that all militaries should be TOTALLY disbanded. You still need enough to keep up a decent appearance and participate in whatever minor operations. But spending a significant sum is a waste. Exceptions: African countries like I said, because they need the military just to keep power in the first place. North Korea is a funny situation, because a big reason why everybody is starving over there is because they spend far too much money on the military, but if they don't, the shitty government will be overthrown.

I'm Canadian, and people always make fun of our military. I actually think that what we have is already too much. No one would ever think of invading us. And even if the US decided to go apeshit and invade, we couldn't stop them.

Dude, our fighter and helicopter aircraft are falling apart in midair, we have 0 ability to airlift our own troops anywhere and we have to pay other countries out of our nose fro them to do it for us, almost all our units are understrength, the retirement rate of armed forces personnel is vastly outstripping any sort of replaceable recruitment, our navy in our a few years will be unable to even properly refuel itself at sea as our naval resupply ships are nearly unseaworthy. You may live in la-la land but a country such as Canada who is a member of multiple international organizations has obligations and priorties beyond our country's border and even now, all defence analysts agree that our current military force would probably be unable to defend the country properly at its current state. Do you think other countries, even the US or other NATO countries or even the UN are just going to let Canada sit around and do nothing while other countries have to pick up the slack? Do you know anything about International geopolitics at all? Who do you think we are? Turkmenistan?!
