exactly what i was thinking when he said cant stop saying some french shit.

anyways on topic. DONT GET THIS GAME. shit sucks. join a real class with a native speaker. this is the only way to properly learn a language like japanese. you can probably learn french or Spanish this way since they are similar to your own language but i dont recommend learning japanese from a program. i do however recommend you get kankends2 for learning kanji. if you have a flashcart (cyclods) and a ds then you can download it here: http://www.filefactory.com/file/1b20d9/n/1480_Kanken_DS_2_JPN_NDS-GRN_zip

I got just got this game with absolutely zero Nihongo experience, and it has actually helped me to understand Japanese a lot better, I can clearly understand some sentences from animu, and so on. However, I am only on lesson 6, because the game does let you progress fast if you choose to do so, but I take the time to thoughroughly memorize everything and also look and japanese language learning things on the internet and in bookstores, etc. If you take it really slowly, it does actually teach you a lot.

Honestly?
I have zero 'nihongo' experience except for anime and I was able to advance to level 9 or so from the start and now I'm past level 20 something and still have hardly learned anything except for kana characters.

I'm not your ruler and im not making you do anything. I am just giving you advice based on what i experienced. If you think you can learn japanese off the internet or from playing a mini game on your ds then go ahead. I still say that kankends2 is a great game for learning kanji. beat level 10-2 and you know all of the basic use kanji.

Sounds like the game's level convention is the same as Shoot the Bullet!

I'm convinced.

This shit's actually pretty good. There's never a good substitute for a real classroom, but these things are pretty good for learning stuff. I wish they had one of these things for other subjects.

Kanken is useless if you don't know any Japanese at all. The goddamn menu options are already written in kanji.

>> No.1599109

>>1598701
its easy as fuck. first off you shouldn't be learning kanji if you just started learning japanese. second the game has the katakana meanings of the menus underneath. チャレンジ= challenge where you take the test to pass to the next level (the blue icon) トレーニング= training(the yellow icon) is where you get your practice in. click around inside, its not that hard. ゲーム= game (the red) its kind of hard but once you mater a couple hundred it should be good practice.
i couldn't read any kanji when i started playing it but if you browse around to see what it offers you can go far. there is hardly a market in the US for a ds game that helps you learn kanji so dont expect something this helpful to be translated any time soon.
