15846598 No.15846598 [Reply] [Original]

I found recently I am attracted to inconsequential Stage 1-2 bosses, like Yamame, Sekibanki, Ringo, and Kogasa.

What is this affliction and how do I fight it?

>> No.15846609

You can't say you're attracted to touhous of you haven't fapped to their original sprites and ZUN artwork.

Kogasa at least has been fleshed out in print works, so I would say that she's more than just an inconsequential boss.
And the others are cute, so I don't see a problem!

Yamame is likely the simplest case, as my experience tells me I am attracted to blondes in real life, and Yamame's AA2 equivalent gave me a lot of trouble in my Gensokyo class. Thus projecting, I became attracted to Yamame.

Sekibanki I had always thought an interesting case, living in the Human Village, yet spurning both humans and her fellow youkai, and grumpy girls are one of my favourite archetypes. Then, after getting extremely agitated at an extremely minor meme, I wrote a 7600-word story exploring Sekibanki's character according to myself. Since then, she has been lodged in my heart.

Ringo, well, Ringo's theme is delightful, no two ways about it. That, combined with her lax attitude (a fair contrast to both Reisen and Seiran) and a similarly delightful outfit, instantly made me like her. I am easily influenced by music.

Kogasa is the rare example of a hard-working tsukumogami, who doesn't resort to underhanded or harmful means. This commands my respect. Her unceasing efforts to become useful to humans who surround her liken her to a dutiful puppy in my mind. And this is simply adorable.

As for others, I'd have to give it some more thought, and another post. This one is already spooking me with the character limit countdown.

A false positive, I'm sure. Five of my top ten favourite 'hus, including the absolute top two, are explicitly long-haired. Stage 1 and 2 bosses simply tend to be less flashy, and thus often short-haired.

List of long-haired bosses by stage:
Stage 1: Seiran
Stage 2: Hina
Stage 3: Meirin, Keine, Yuugi, Ichirin, Kagerou
Stage 4: Patchouli, Reimu, Marisa, Benben
Stage 5: Reisen, Sanae, Rin, Clownpiece
Stage 6: Kaguya, Eirin, Utsuho, Hijiri, Junko
Extra/Phantasm: Yukari, Mokou

Most long-haired touhous are either from stage 3 or 6.

List of long-haired bosses by game:
EoSD: 2
PCB: 1
IN: 7
MoF: 2
SA: 3
UFO: 2
DDC: 2
LoLK: 3

IN blows every other game out the water with a stunning seven long-haired characters out of ten. PCB, on the other hand, only has one.

I never noticed, but most touhous are either short-haired or middle-lenghted.

I didn't. My history regarding this website is atypical I guess. I've been here off and on for over a decade using different boards. I was here to see Mc'Rolld uploaded to Youtube but I didn't realize what the music was even from until earlier this year.
I've also left this site for years at a time (4 at the most).
Basically, I'm incredibly good at ignoring things.
I'm on /jp/ now because I've found I have great fondness for the Touhou Project after deciding to look at it.
I'm glad to be here.

Are you implying that only Humans have beer?

I have a distinct hunch that the Oni and Tengu would beg to differ.

>> No.15884994

Sekibanki knows her limits, surely the average beer to an Oni would be much more potent that the average beer to a Human.

>> No.15885803

>>15884943
I doubt this, actually. The only faction with conceivable infrastructure (agriculture, processing, marketing) for making and distributing beer is the Human Village. Oni live underground (no agriculture), while the Tengu are a highly militarised society situated on a mountainside, and keeping themselves concealed to boot. It's unlikely they grow anything but the most necessary crops.
>>15884994
And in the light of the above, I propose the so-called "Oni beer" is in fact simply imported human beer, perhaps modified.

>> No.15889735

>>15885803
Preposterous. The Oni were sealed underground alongside the rest of the "too dangerous" youkai who lived there. Do you really expect us to believe that the Oni would accept being down there without at least the barest trace of Booze?

No, they clearly used BLATANT WIZARDRY to magic up whatever they needed to make the stuff.

As for the Tengu, sure they're isolated, but they have even less reasons to go without, considering they can make their own.

>> No.15890127

>>15889735
We were talking about beer specifically, not booze in general. You can make moonshine out of most growable things, which the Oni would have no problem doing, but cultivating hops is a much more advanced and resource-intensive enterprise.
