Is there a term for the more "children's song" style denpa? Pretty sure twinkle was the first I ever heard of it, followed by discoveries of melo9, Maple Doll, Usamimi ribon, milk crown, etc. These are the sounds which put me on an irreversible course to loving and wanting to find more and more of this phenomenal music. But, looks like the Big Craze (at least here in these threads) is for the more straightforward moe + EDM sounds, which doesn't carry the same unique traits that attracted me here in the first place.

Not a mention of denpa actually, but there is a common feeling which I think also resonates. I'm pretty new to this music and pretty much keep to myself, but to understand that even those who like more mainstream-sounding doujin (just with moe vocals on top) would also have to deal with these type reactions from others: ” …what the fuck was that.” and “dude that’s like a fucking baby song man. you can actually listen to this shit?” gives a familial sense to us all, really.

Personally, it's ok. Nothing too special about it that I can say, just some conventional songwriting with no real distinct flavor (I have no idea what are the lyrics). No, I've been listening to Odenpa and Twinkle, but a bit of Toromi does sound like a smart idea.

>> No.15797579

twinkle sister live 5 was fun. First was Shinamon Sugar (official spelling.) She had only a short time but she squeezed in as many songs and she could. She wore her usual glowing skirt. The crowd was pretty responsive with pink glowsticks.

Next was Nakuru, I wasn't too familiar with her, but she does have some songs I like. She sang some more cool style songs but also one very cute song about rabbits, and made the audience hop around. I wanted to buy the CD with that one, but she didn't bring it.

Next was Hotaru-tan.
Her setlist:
1.SSDR_PARTY
As expected, her fans were wild. During the first song, which has a matsuri theme, some fans made a mini-mikoshi with a bunny stuffed animal she threw into the audience last time on it and heaved it around the venue shouting "wasshoi" like at a real matsuri. It was really funny.
2.オトナHappy
3.U
4.Juicy!とろとろトロピカル
5.おちんぎんくだひゃい
Partway through Hirote~ came out with fake money and asking who wants his "chingin." Chingin means "wages" or "pay" but it also sounds like... Some Hirote Boys (fans of Hirote) timidly took his chingini and Hotaru-tan passed out some envelopes too. For one song she went from Hotaru-tan (wholesome) back to Hotaru-chin (naughty) and sang the odenpa studio song.
6.虹色カレイドスコープ

Next was Mameko, she really tried to play to the Sister Live audience and changed some lyrics of her songs to make the fans laugh. She sang some cute as well as more typical songs.

Last was of course, twinkle. They were wearing yukata with uchiwa fans in the obi.

1.夏koiゆかたふぇぇ…スティバル!
2.ぷににふともも ニーソックスを添えて
They joked about how you can't see kneesocks while wearing a yukata.
3.sweets sweets love!(withまめこ)
Mameko came out in a yukata too and they did a collaboration. I saw Shinamon Sugar watching on the sidelines in a yukata too so I thought maybe they'd all do collaborations, but it was only with Mameko.
4.フェアリーネバープラネット(withまめこ)
After singing one of twinkle's songs, they sang one of Mameko's.
5.夕立ロマンチカ
6.制服で~と
The audience always does UO glowsticks partway through the song to represent the sunset.
7.くるるんついんくる
They said this was their last song... But...
8.ろりりんろりんくる
After it ended, they went back stage, and played an audio recording of a mini drama with them hitting their heads and returning to being kids. (It was really goofy and funny.) Next they came out dressed as lolinkle and started singing the lolinkle songs which was really surprising.
9.第二次あにまるぱんちゅ大戦ρ
During this song, Milk and Choko both waved flags that they had drawn different pantsu designs on. It was actually a really cool effect.
In between songs they mentioned how they got in trouble for walking around M3 while wearing their kindergarten uniforms even though it's their "regular clothes" and not cosplay.
10.ろり~たえんじん
That's the end! Nice show! Thank you!
(Sorry I didn't post the song list for everyone. Only twinkle and hotaru-tan posted their setlist after the event.)

Sorry for butting in again, but maybe I wasn't specific enough with the highlighting syntax. You need to place @h@ in front of the lines manually; copy and paste doesn't seem to work. Don't worry, they disappear in the saved document, but you need to manually place them every time you save the document. I recommend keeping an offline copy of the edited post with @h@ somewhere in Docs, then ctrl+a and copy to save them in pastebin. Maybe you should also move the changelog to the bottom; the pastebin fills up with content pretty quickly so the logs will push the actual content of the file down.

Sure if you want to go in depth about your experience in diverse direct it would be a great help with the expansion of that section. My original intention was more so about the process from when you order the CD all the way to its arrival to you. For example, has there been any issues with customs holding your packages for extended periods? Has your experience with a particular proxy buyer been consistent since starting doing business with them?
I'm gathering info for the guide so that people new to buying doujin CDs can feel more confident in doing so. Especially if they read about example from their own country of origin.
Example: Living in hawaii, I have had no issues with CDs getting stuck in customs. Considering my items don't have to go to the mainland US first, I get my stuff fairly quickly via EMS. However shipping is usually between 2k-2.5k yen for around 5 CDs or so. I've typically paid around the same in shipping and services fees between Tenso and From Japan, and they typically respond within 24 hours for any inquiry I have.

Sure, though most experience that

I've bought doujin CD's through 4 different sites throughout the years: dv8cag (a proxybuyer), Diverse Direct (a doujin circle), iosys (also a doujin circle) and doujincore (event proxybuyer). I've had no issues with either of these. I've also bought all the pigmhall stuff (which you do directly though him, afaik), which also went without issue.

I live in Denmark and the average price per CD, EMS shipping included, from either of those services, is around 100-200dkk (15-30usd), which I consider fair enough.

The only downsides relate to the Danish customs: They withhold around a third of the packages I get (probably because I use EMS though). When they do, you can expect about a week extra in delivery time. You also have to pay about 1/3 of the packages value in taxes and import fees (e.g., a package worth 1555dkk (225usd, 25k yen) cost me an extra 600dkk (around 90usd), before I could get it).

Crazy. Is it a necessary part of the process, such as having some insurance on the package so that the real value of the contents would be disclosed? Do they open it up and look at an invoice, how do they know? I would wanna know some way to get around that crap. Plus you have wait an extra week... how fucked.

When they catch the package, the extra payment (fees + tax) is mandatory. They'll withhold the package until you pay - which you have to do within 14 days.

Insurance is not mandatory afaik. As to why some types of shipping methods are more likely to result in the package getting withheld, I don't know. Try looking at the figure buying guide on /a/. I believe it has some info about that.

They usually go by the value written on the package, so long as it is realistic. If they catch a package with 20 CD's whose value is declared as 100 yen, then they're most likely going to calculate the price in some other way (maybe by looking at what such a CD would cost in Denmark, which would most likely inflate the price per CD quite a bit).

Besides, proxy services have to provide somewhat realistic values of the goods they send, as doing otherwise would amount to tax fraud, I think.

The extra wait time is from personal experience. But you can usually expect at least an extra day or two, from the time the tracking says it is being withheld in customs, to the time your told how much you have to pay in fees+tax. And then a day or two for delivery after that.

I can recommend buying in somewhat bigger batches. You always have to pay the 25%, but the fixed 160dkk is a special kind of bullshit if you've only bought goods worth e.g., 170dkk (has happened to me).

I had really gotten bored of lolicore before I discovered denpa and then it was like a light had been switched on. I had found something actually creative and sweet, rather than destructive and impure. Now these idiots are looking to slap some senseless pounding bass onto anything sped up so that they feel like they've accomplished a thing in the meme life, which only serves to dupe the rest of the senseless masses into thinking that it actually sounds cool. Always ensuing are these examples of nanahira fanboys who will rush to senselessly defend their idol, while I've yet to see anyone give a really good reason for why they actually like her SO MUCH. (I think most of these people just don't listen to very much music of varying style and actually come to liking nanahira by way of her popularity, sometimes feeding into the phenomena of Popular music in a way they don't even realize their being trapped. And that is my main gripe about all the attention she gets: it seems to be mindless and mostly popularity-driven instead of exhibiting the tasteful appreciation that good music will evoke.)

My initial comment as it relates to nanahira was more directed at the idea of peddling such a stupid app to all the silly fans who'll pay for that kind of crap and the lameness of cashing in on mass consumer idiocy. Which further adds to my repulsion.

>> No.15865833

Man, if I wanted to listen exclusively to "good music" I would just listen to my 30 GBs of baroque music. I have an incredibly varied collection of denpa music ranging from the very early works of Momoi Haruko to pigmhall.

So you want to know why I like Nanahira? I like her voice. It's as simple as that. Sometimes I wish she got better songs to sing but at least when she teams up with Camelia there is allways good songs to listen to with her great voice.

For starters her voice is very unique in the scene. I've listened to quite a lot of denpa music from all times and for me her tone and scratchiness are as recognizable as Momoi Haruko's powerful voice, MI-KO's very classic voice, miko's unique pitch or Toromi's velvety voice. Other singers have tones that can be classified in types but very few actually achieve a voice as recognizable as Nanahira's.

Then, that very same scratchiness of her voice evokes some of the factors that define denpa music. An exageration of the moe factor to the point that becomes a bit annoying. It's like spicy food, sometimes it hurts but you keep coming for more since it's actually delicious. Such is Nanahira's voice.

And finally, she fearlessly tries practically everything. She's sung almost everything in the scene. Sometimes with mediocre results, others with awesome results. Most artists stick to the same kind of sound.

She's a very well rounded and versatile singer and you can see she enjoys and got passion for singing. This is probably why she participates in so many different albums for many circles.

I haven't got that much saved by her, so I have to agree. This conflict I have must be closely associated to the intolerance I have of obnoxious children, their voices and antics. I'm very easily annoyed by that. So, I guess you could say I like the more healing/adorable/sensual moe voices. But, I take that back because sometimes there are moments in a song when it sounds like they're being defiant or causing a ruckus and I think that's really cute. Just not if it's nanahira. YUCK

Just many different degrees of this stuff, artist-to-artist obviously, but even song-to-song on an album the way you described makes for an elaborated process of discovery, as now I can go back through some of my favorite artists and find new love for songs that I took a pass on at first.

The concert was fun, but I can't write a very good report because I was too short to see almost anything. Nanahira posted the full track list including all sources for the songs:
https://twitter.com/nanahira/status/780401762519781381

A few notes:
- I think Okolunch's outfits were the same ones Maple Sugar wore at their debut at Sister Live.
- Uki Uki Wonderland was covered by the non-Shaking Pink members. During the intro they said *mumble*ing Pink was going to come out, and then introduced themselves as "Oranging Pink." There were lots of other cover songs too.
- Kameria's songs sounded best while being blasted loudly from the speakers.
- Most of the outfits were very frilly but Momobako dressed up as Mario but sleeveless.
- In my experience most concerts use ballad songs to give the audience a break and let them sit down. But instead they just had an actual intermission in the middle, and there were no slow songs at all.
- During Momobako's Otasa no Hime song, Mameko came out and played the part of the "circle crasher" girl.
- I thought they would explain about the difference between pomme'tto and Shaking Pink and the future of Shaking Pink. But they didn't mention anything like that. So I guess pomme'tto won't replace SP, and the difference is just in SP they are playing characters instead of being themselves.
- Okolunch and Nayu both had new songs.
- Nayu told everyone to make up fake tweets saying she did crazy stuff like flips and spitting fire or whatever. So you can see some crazy tweets about her if you search.
- A lot of composers were in the audience too.
- I had been to this venue several times, but I never saw it this crowded. I think next time they should use a much bigger place with a higher stage. Many of the singers are very short, so even standing on the stage, they weren't higher than the audience. (So I couldn't see them, especially Nanahira and Koko who are tiny.)

I can't believe that I have gotten so hooked on this music. I don't even understand any lyrics. Undoubtedly there is a guilty pleasure in consuming these candy pop sounds and melodies which are carried out by simple pop song structures that are generally nothing new. But the sounds of the moe vocals just take it to another level completely - all that cuteness going to work - it feels like a magical thing that actually enters the body and goes to correct some negative tendencies that may be poisoning oneself. I am the most depressed I've ever been in my life. So, perhaps there is a correlation in that these feelings are being unlocked because I am empty and receptive to the positive energy and influence of the moe concept. Maybe it's all just amplified in a perceived need to feel better. It seems like such a powerful key though, in that one can turn it either way and go the way of perversion just as well. So, all the power is given to the individual and how one chooses to wield it. I don't really know...except that maybe I need to find a bigger reason for getting so sucked into this kind of music that it's become all I really want to listen to anymore. Does anyone else have such crazy feelings that maybe could explain a little better or help me understand what is going on? Or just tell me if I am acting nuts.

I don't know about the whole depression thing so much. Maybe it applies to the voices and the lyrics.
It probably also applies at least a little bit to every aspect of otaku culture.

But other than that, the style of singing and the music itself just hits a sweet spot with me that I think was always there long before I ever became depressed, into Japanese stuff, or ever heard of denpa.

I was never into popular music because it always got boring after a while. Most of my life I would describe my music listening as more like a "search". Every once in a while I would find songs that would have parts in them that I thought were just phenomenal and would sometimes even listen to that part over and over because it was so rare for me to find something I liked that much. Those were like tantalizing hints to me that music could be better, but people just didn't know how to do it right or something.

I also went through this reggae phase. But to me it was an embarrassment. I didn't want to like it, but there was just something in there about the way some of the vocals were with raspy voices and melodies that you'd never hear in western music that was very interesting to me.
It's funny because denpa actually can remind me of certain kinds of reggae music quite a bit sometimes.

But once I found denpa I knew that was it. It was like someone finally figured out the right formula and was quietly amassing this huge collection of music under the banner "denpa" just waiting for me to find it. Listening to music no longer feels like a search. Finding it is probably one of the best things that ever happened to me.

A band I used to listen to a long time ago claimed there was a demon-god, called "Boognish", which first appeared to them when they were kids, and from thereon this entity was to be the compelling force in all their musical creation. Funny as it sounds, this was a big part of their mystique, and I could at least sense there was some strange "presence" or extra component to their music that seemed to tap into extra psychoacoustic dimensions. Those "tantalizing hints" you talked about reminded me, because this band always seemed to be searching for evidence of their one true guide, as they would continuously be going from one style to the next in trying to invoke it any way they could find. Agh! The best musicians will always be hoping to connect with such a power, and it is then that the listener has the fortune to rejoice in that release of energy. There's this definition of denpa that I keep trying to familiarize myself with and that is this whole part about the radio waves. It has been said to me that the Japanese are keen to manipulate energy and that they even like to play with it. If we're so stuck on denpa at the moment, then I want to know what are the forces at play...and how might we able to use them?

It's "him against the world" and nobody is going to win by talking any sense. Something is wrong with him. I'm afraid that he's quite sick.

When you look at the number of views that nanahira videos get on youtube, it's no wonder that you'll get some disturbed product of society coming in here trying to enforce its "norms" and thinking we're all the crazy ones because we don't obsess like he does about actual rape.

He's totally forgotten about the music at this point. And I don't think it was ever a positive factor in his thinking to begin with. It's hard to imagine how he relates to denpa at all, having such a weird perspective on things. Something seems very insulated and protective about the way he thinks. I want to know more.

There's nothing wrong with "RapeTheLolis"

You could just use a different perspective.

Remember...it's all You, in this life.

Would anybody care to re-frame their response to the issue, presuming someone who is actually a victim of rape has the problem with RTL?

For some reason, when I look at the album and listen to the song I keep thinking it's a potty training denpa song. I don't know why.
