How ironic that my manhood is the thing keeping me from acting logically.

Not just obsessions, though. One of Umineko's main theme is how they can easily explain things by staying calm but fail to.
For the pawns, it's pretty understandable, they're stuck on an island with siblings they may hate, and they're all dying. But for the meta Battler, it's unforgiveable.
When the pawn Battler is calmed down by Erika, he manages to solve the riddle pretty quickly. The thing that fucks im up most of the case is his stubborness to try to explain things with a half-baked theory. The little bombs thing is one of these.

Excuses excuses. You run away from the far end of degeneracy with excuses. Not even good excuses at that. Rather than indulge yourself in all manners of spanking, you give yourself excuses and conditions. How boring. But this isn't surprising considering we all have our hidden hypocrisy.

>You don't see me wanting to spank Satoko despite all the shit she causes in the game, because she has a really hard life.
Of course not, Bernkastel is not Satoko. But this just proves that you have not fully developed a spanking fetish and are just focused on Bernkastel's butt. Every excuse is simply an attempt to mask your degenerate nature.

>because she has a really hard life.
What an amusing lie. Or perhaps an omission? But I doubt it considering how many times I explained the birth of Bernkastel.
Bernkastel had a hard life as well, even worse than Satoko. What a boring contradictory excuse, you just want to spank a haughty personality and spank that haughtiness out of them. Rather than spank all indiscriminately, enjoying particularly those with haughty attitudes, you only focus on Bernkastel.

>Bernkastel is just a bitch for the sake of being a bitch.
And Satoko doesn't? Does she not act like a spoiled annoying brat just for the sake of it as well?

>But this just proves that you have not fully developed a spanking fetish and are just focused on Bernkastel's butt
So what?

>What an amusing lie. Or perhaps an omission?
I dunno. Satoko pretty much killed her parents, was adopted and beaten by her uncle, her brother disappeared, and she dies being tortured to death by Shion.
>Bernkastel had a hard life as well
Yet Satoko takes pleasure in playing with her friends and bullying Keiichi. Bernkastel take pleasure in watching people falling into despair before killing each others. I'd say that makes Bernkastel a little less sympathetic than Satoko.
And there's also the fact that there are pictures depicting Satoko getting spanked.
>you just want to spank a haughty personality and spank that haughtiness out of them
But this is how it works. Accept it or not, but the personality affects one's opinion of a girl. If Bernkastel acted like Maria, I would find her annoying but I wouldn't want to spank her. Especially once the game starts detailling her backstory and how she was left alone most of the time with only her plushie toy to comfort her.

>And Satoko doesn't? Does she not act like a spoiled annoying brat just for the sake of it as well?
Satoko only does mostly harmless jokes, and act this way because Keiichi looks exactly like Satoshi. Bernkastel figuratively throw people down a pit with one knife and tell them only one will be allowed to get out.

>I wonder if you would spank Ange's butt?
No, because she's not a little girl. Would you spank Featherine or Rosa? Would you spank Erika or Cornelia?

>Does it bring you a perverse joy?
Of course it does. In the Trick Ending of ep 8, Ange revels in the fact that exposing the hidden truth is extremely gratifying. But the real gratifying truth is to make other people see your truth. To open your eyes to your worldview, your perversion. Unknoting hypocrisy is the greatest gratification of truth. In that sense, perhaps I have transcended even the Witch of Truth.
You can see it in his excuses, his reluctance to fully throw himself into the nihilistic and hedonistic void of degeneracy. Even within his own fetish of spanking, he only limits himself to Bernkastel with faulty reasoning and logic on his own ground.
This greater understanding of duality allows me to have a leg up over him. Duality is above truth.

>So what?
So why not spank everyone indiscriminately? Why Bernkastel only? The answer is simple. Her butt. You focus so much on spanking that you have to see the trees to understand the abstract of the forest. It's the butt that you are focused on rather than the fetish and the sex. You see, like rape, nearly all of sexual actions can be traced back to power, in one sense or another, or its equal exchange of power when it involves vanilla. Everything in the world is about sex except sex. Sex is about power. Duality also requires absolutism. You must either commit yourself fully or not at all. Rape or not rape. Spank all or spank none. Because it's more fun that way.

Because if you ignore spanking, and focus sole on the butt, degeneracy allows for idealization of all extremes. Licking, kissing, scratching, teeth marks. cum on her butt, cheek rubbing, and of course spanking. But if you push that extreme, it becomes a slippery slope to everything else concerning degeneracy. First it's her butt, then it's humiliating her, then it's rape, then it's breaking her soul. And ultimately, destruction. That's why it has to be absolute.

>I dunno. Satoko pretty much killed her parents, was adopted and beaten by her uncle, her brother disappeared, and she dies being tortured to death by Shion.
I was talking about Bernkastel. You're playing the pity card on Satoko and ignoring Bernkastel's past, as I said, either out of omission or by lie, since we had a discussion about Bernkastel's birth in the past three threats.

>Yet Satoko takes pleasure in playing with her friends and bullying Keiichi. Bernkastel take pleasure in watching people falling into despair before killing each others.
Intensity has nothing to do with anything. One would argue simply that Bernkastel 'deserves' it more compared to Satoko, but not that Satoko doesn't deserve spanking. She has a haughty attitude which is absolutely worth spanking and breaking.

>I would find her annoying but I wouldn't want to spank her.
Boring. You wouldn't spank her every time she goes Uuuu Uuuu? Having her scream Uuuu Uuuu while you're spanking her, with Rosa next to you urging you to keep spanking her until she changes? You have so little imagination. Personality only affects the intensity and desire to destroy and corrupt. Bernkastel does deserve to be more broken than Maria, but not by virtue of her actions but by the level of difficulty. What worth would spanking Bernkastel do if it does not affect her? What if turning her butt red create zero reaction? The greatest break of a dandere is for her to develop emotions, slightly showing a spark until you expand it and she becomes broken to the point where she can only think about dick. Spanking, on its own, acheieves nothing but personal boring gratification.
This is why I say it is boring.

>Would you spank Featherine or Rosa? Would you spank Erika or Cornelia?
Absolutely. I would spank all their butts. And more, of course.

>So why not spank everyone indiscriminately? Why Bernkastel only?
Because Bernkastel has all the "qualities" required to be spankable : she's small, somewhat cute, and is a real bitch.
Lambdadelta starts as a bitch, but sometimes act as an ally, and gives very valuable advice to Battler as he's about to get locked in the closet, on top of standing against Featherine (and getting SO FUCKING REKT in the process).

>I was talking about Bernkastel.
You mentionned others characters and asked why I was so focused on Bernkastel. I picked Satoko as an example of another "little girl does bad stuff" character.

>we had a discussion about Bernkastel's birth in the past three threats
I won't yield to threat. Bern's ass is mine.

>Intensity has nothing to do with anything
I disagree. Bernkastel's actions have led 18 people to death several times, and she did so without giving them any respect.
Beatrice caused, directly or indirectly everyone to die several time, but she didn't played with them like Bernkastel and Erika did, especially Erika, who mutilated their bodies. But the difference is that both Erika and Beatrice paid the price. Beatrice always die at the end, and find herself unable to escape Rokkenjima even when dragged kicking and screaming by Battler, and Erika get killed. And it was a touching scene.

>You wouldn't spank her every time she goes Uuuu Uuuu?
As strange as it sounds, I don't really enjoy beating kids. I would totally slap Rosa in the face for how she treated her daughter though. I'd spank Bernkastel because she's a bitch witch, but Maria is just... I dunno, she has it too rough with her unadequate wreck of a mother.

>What worth would spanking Bernkastel do if it does not affect her? What if turning her butt red create zero reaction?
I don't believe her body can react to the spanking while she herself doesn't feel any pain. That wouldn't make any sense, people and witches aren't meant to be insensible to pain. If it happens to be the case, I'll probably spank her harder.

>Absolutely. I would spank all their butts.
Even Ange, who had a shitty childhood and had to make even more imaginary friends than Maria? Even Beatrice, with her frilly dress that you can't reasonably raise not to mention she's quite slow due to being inbred? Even Rosa, which is the bitchiest bitch that isn't a witch and got hitched? Even Zepar, who may or may not be a trap?

>Because Bernkastel has all the "qualities" required to be spankable : she's small, somewhat cute, and is a real bitch.
No, those are your qualities for a perfect ass, not requirements to be spankable. All that is required for someone to be spankable is to have an ass. It's qualities only intencifies the spanking results.

>Bernkastel's actions have led 18 people to death several times, and she did so without giving them any respect.
So what? It doesn't matter if she lead 18 or 1000 people to their death. All that matters is her baseline attitude. Her apathy only makes it more engaging to break.

>I don't really enjoy beating kids.
Neither do I but I enjoy corrupting on all levels, and that logically must include children.

>but Maria is just... I dunno, she has it too rough with her unadequate wreck of a mother.
Boring. You know Maria deserves it. All characters deserve it.

>Even Ange, who had a shitty childhood and had to make even more imaginary friends than Maria?
God yes. Did you not see my list a thread ago on how I would break Ange through blackmail and bullying? Having a shitty childhood and past doesn't matter. Just as it doesn't matter to you that Bernkastel had a shitty life.

>Even Beatrice, with her frilly dress
Well Kinzo tied her to his bed and built a mansion around that bed, so I think he had it covered.

>Even Rosa, which is the bitchiest bitch that isn't a witch and got hitched
Rosa is in dire need to be broken. The entire reason she's suffering is because she is in need of a man to rely on.

>Even Zepar, who may or may not be a trap?
No. I don't swing that way. However, an absolute degenerate would not let gender get in the way of his pleasure.

>No, those are your qualities for a perfect ass, not requirements to be spankable. All that is required for someone to be spankable is to have an ass. It's qualities only intencifies the spanking results.
But an ass is nothing if it's not attached to a person, so ultimately, you end up wanting to spank a person because who she is rather than just because she has a nice ass.
And Bernkastel has the perfect attributes, requirements, whatever you choose to call it to deserve a spanking. Even if her ass was flat (which probably is since she's a little girl), she would still be spanking material for the reason I gave earlier.

>It doesn't matter if she lead 18 or 1000 people to their death
It does. It is a sin to bear. She needs to pay for all the death she caused.

>All that matters is her baseline attitude.
Mmm?

>Her apathy only makes it more engaging to break.
Apathy... What a good joke. She spends too much time making faces to be considered apathic. See pic related. And that's not her worst frown.
I want her to make that face when I tell her it's time for her daily spanking.

>You know Maria deserves it.
Sakutarou's death and the beatings her mother give her, in front of the other kids aren't enough?

>Did you not see my list a thread ago on how I would break Ange through blackmail and bullying?
I didn't really paid much attention to it because you also talked about sex, and blackmail sex isn't my favourite flavour.

>Rosa is in dire need to be broken. The entire reason she's suffering is because she is in need of a man to rely on
Rosa's problem is that she suffers from a really poor self-esteem. She treats her daughter like a dead weight and a retard, and when her boyfriend start telling her she shouldn't let Maria alone, Rosa goes full apeshit and accuse him of wanting to hitch her because she's a single mother.

Beatrice wrote ep 1-2
Tohya wrote ep 3-4 and published it on the internet.
The mystery fans (the goats) got interested in Tohya's work but complained that Battler was shit, so they asked to put their own detective to see if they can get more information and solve what happened on the island. They created a mary sue detective that knew detective tropes and prepared in advance for the murder. Natsuhi was a red herring but the reader was stuck with Natsuhi the entire time, so you as the reader knew she wasn't the culprit, however, the mystery fans were fooled and told Erika to follow Natsuhi. The mystery fans got tricked and solved nothing.

In ep 6, Tohya allowed them to try another time but he planned to just fuck around with them by creating a scenario where everyone was faking being dead. The mystery fans were pissed at how they were humiliated in ep 5 and told Erika to just mess up the gameboard and trap Tohya in a logic error. After Tohya got out, he closed the gameboard and was never seen again.

The point of Erika threefolds. Firstly, she's an example of the extremes of truth and rationality. She is also a representation of the quote from Arthur Conan Doyle ''It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts.''. And finally, Erika is a representation of an actual Mary sue of how bullshit most detectives are but with a meta spin. And she's a shit for never solving anything.

I'd rather have a good atmosphere. I really, really loved Higurashi because it relied on sounds and ambience as much as music.
So you had Keiichi walking in Hinamizawa, complaining about the heat while hearing the cicadas. Really made you feel like you were next to him, panting and sweating as you were running down corridors.
Umineko has some really good music, but not enough atmosphere. That's my main beef with it.

Besides being less mature (in a sense that most of the messages and content are for adult viewers/readers), it still is quite a serious story in that sense.

Good mystery anime from way before?

Boogiepop Phantom for sure (though you might want to read some of the books, because things are more implicit than Umineko without them).

Monster is also great. And so is Ghost Hound (different kind of mystery though). That Agatha Christie one is also not bad it kinda loses big part of its charm however).

There's also good old Higurashi, of course, Shiki (same atmosphere) and also the gigantic Meitantei Conan.

Similar to Umineko we have pretty much every single anime by Ikuhara (symbolism mystery galore), Kaiba (in a sense) and Mousou Dairinin (same as Kaiba).

Now, for a completely different kind of mystery, we also have Serial Experiments Lain (8deep10u, you will have a harsh time trying to understand half of the things happening until you rewatch a couple of times), Takarajima (more like mysterious adventure), Tatami Galaxy (life lesson mystery) and Shinsekai Yori (dystopian post-apocalyptical fantastic mystery).

Yep, those are all I got in mind right now (and very few are from the murder mystery genre really).

As for the culprits being only Kyrie and Rudolph, this is kinda questionable, since [red]This is all the truth, more or less[red], meaning EP7 did happened in Rokkenjima Prime, but the events were slightly different.

1- They could have killed everybody, but the things they said about Ange and all the family were just Auaurora's and Bernkastel's take in Eva's diary.

2- They killed almost everybody, people got killed by them and by other adults too, and they really meant what they said.

Umineko makes perfect sense in its context if you actually try to solve it (or just read the explicit manga).

Being a clusterfuck doesn't necessarily being it's bullshit, the whole story is a gigantic mind-screwdriver, if you know this trope.

Hm, I will give my opinion about that too.

In Umineko's cases it was purely symbolic iirc, nothing of that was actually happening (unless you want to consider the magic part not as being the huge symbolism net it actually represents).

In Higurashi that pretty much happened for real.

Adding, correct me if I'm wrong, but EP8 is Tohya's alter ego and Ikkuko's "miko" writing the same "book" as they discuss their respective interpretations about the truth according to Eva's diary, since EP7's by Ikuko wasn't that much of what Tohya actually thought himself about the situation (which causes the double gamemaster plot point in EP8 in the first place).

Because it doesn't. Check Higurashi, due to music being quite rare, each time the game throw a spooky wav sound at you, it has a lot of impact. In Umineko, except for the first episode, you always have some music running in the background.

>> No.15663479

>>15663472
>>15663476
Complementing, Higurashi is only nearly as atmospheric because of the good use of its OST and sound effects, just like Umineko (except that one has it in a much MUCH larger scale).

Umineko is a huge step up from Higurashi in that matter, specially, I really don't get this whole "there's too much music" thing lately.

Now that you said, it, this reminds me why is this even an argument.

One key word for you all:

Sound-Novel

>> No.15663489

>>15663478
And the music can be quite spooky as well, creating the immersion. It's not any less atmospheric, just in a different way. Umineko as a whole is completely different from EP1 anyway. You're trying to look at Umineko as if it were Higurashi, which it's not. The music in Umineko has an incredible atmospheric impact across a variety of moods.

>> No.15663492

>>15663478
So having a limited amount of music to match the mood of a moment is apparently better than multiple melodies that are made by the author to match the specific moment, which also gives an even more "impact". And that on not some ebook or anime either.
I don't know if you're even trying

Except it isn't. You literally can't be scared for the characters when you have miragecoordinator or Dread From The Grave playing in the background.

>> No.15663501

>>15663478
Umineko has tons of these moments too.

The difference is that the OST is 5 times bigger, the VN is double the lenght of its predecessor, and that these moments are very well spread through the whole thing, intead of not being restricted to the paranoia fuel latter half of each arc, like in Higurashi.

>Except it isn't.

Not an argument

>You literally can't be scared for the characters when you have miragecoordinator or Dread From The Grave playing in the background.

You *literally* can. Dread of the Grave doesn't play in moments detrimental to characters, and Miragecoordinator is plenty dramatic. And since you're obviously forgetting about the plethora of other tracks, Ridicule was perfect for EP7. Same with Terminal Entrance. Same with 7-weights. Again, "scared for characters" for you is extremely limited because you're trying to read Umineko as if it were supposed to be Higurashi II.

I don't think the main point in Umineko is to scare the players (nor is Higurashi, specially Kai), it's just a very well used recurring element in the 07th Expansion VNs, but ok.

>> No.15663518

Ridicule is spooky. Terminal Entrance is spooky. 7-weights is spooky. Miragecoordinator is tense and matches the atmosphere of the scenes it's included in. Don't get mad at me because you can't offer a good argument.

One thing I hate about Higurashi's soundtrack (mostly 1-4) is that some of the songs are so low quality

Take this one for instance. It isn't a bad song, but the quality of the audio is so bad, especially around 0:50

Readin all this, all I can say is:

Scary moments/spooky stuff =/= the only thing meant to be atmospheric in a work of fiction

That said, I remind you all that Umineko is 10x more atmospheric exactly because the vast OST match all the key moments, like if it was Beatoriche and DESIRE.

Even if Higurashi were to have better suspenseful moments because of its OST and sound effects (which I disagree, and even found Manga Gamer's OST to be more atmospheric and intense than the original), Umineko would still win in any other atmospheric aspect of the story.

I mean, just LISTEN TO THIS SHIT

I know this is a bit off topic but has anyone been to a mystery event? Like one of those where the organizers create a mystery for the paying customers.

I've got no one else to ask, so I'm asking you guys. Are those types of events worth it?

This one specifically is 2 days long all meals included for 120 €
