Really is. I remember the day anon posted this among 4 or 5 new releases. What a sticky sweet sensation that pops back into mind as I am listening to this for just the 2nd time. This has to be the best kind of music to come back to after having not listened in a while. Thanks again to the uploader!

Can someone please help me out here?

There's a denpa song in the RTL archive and it's most likely an M3 release but I have no idea what the name is or who it's by.

At some point in the song, the normal flow breaks and an instrumental starts playing this nostalgic tune.
http://vocaroo.com/i/s17TWXi6i3vE

However in the denpa song, the tune is first played in half-time (not regular-time like in my example). The chords are a little different too. It sounds kind of like this.
http://vocaroo.com/i/s0OvfUvGxrZt (Notice the bass line in the first half. I'm pretty sure this is exactly what the denpa song does)
The song also uses some pretty heavy EDM drums to emphasis the half-time,
After the first iteration, the tune is repeated again in regular-time and this time it's even more hyperactive.

WHAT is this song? Any ideas?
I'll listen to every damn M3 song in the archive if that's what it takes, but that's last resort.

I'm 100% certain it's a song from an M3 release in the RTL archive. The main reason it's so hard to remember anything else about the song is because other than the section in question, the song is mediocre and forgettable. It's a shame because that instrumental section is SO catchy.

If anyone wants the full commune310 album, I'll upload it separately.

I wish you could get outside of this structure of having your opinions/emotions go disguised in the wrappings of little green texts, and explain a little bit of what nanahira means to you instead. It's obvious you're a little hurt by the popularity comparison, but it bears a truth. Does the symbol of Drake and Popular Opinion somehow bring a comfort to you? Please elaborate!

She means to me exactly the same thing as the artist of every other song I like, or every piece of art I like, or every show or game or creative work of any kind that I like.
Which is: Absolutely nothing

In my opinion over analysis of a genre, or placing more importance on the people behind the creation more so than how entertaining/enjoyable their creation itself is is what leads to the downfall of that particular media.

Like you said here: >>15577080
>You're really feeling it, that's great. I must have been feeling it too when I decided to keep it.
Well to me, that's the entire point of it. If you're no longer feeling it then that's fucking great. But why do you want to shit all over something you once "felt" just because now that you're no longer feeling it it doesn't stand up to some artificial criteria of "good music" that you've invented to justify keeping it?

There is no such thing as absolute "good music". It's relative.
That's why I fucking hate wannabe critics that drop into any thread on something to give all these little reasons why something is bad. Because what you're trying to do from the get go is wrong. The truth is, it's bad _relative to you_, not in any absolute sense because that's impossible.
Which brings me to what I always like to tell those people: Spare me your fucking analysis, just say "I don't like this" and be done with it.

Yes. Appreciation of any form of art is _by definition_ subjective. You would be wasting your time trying to create an "absolutely bad song" which is a task that amounts to proving a universal negative.
I honestly do think that no matter what you end up producing you could find at least one person on this planet that will appreciate it in one form or another.

>Spare me your fucking analysis, just say "I don't like this" and be done with it.
Does that sound like someone who cares about other people's opinions?
I'm trying to tell the guy that the point of music is that you enjoy it.

I can flip the script and say that to me it seems like anyone who thinks of music along these terms:
>Nanahira is the pewdiepie of denpa
>explain a little bit of what nanahira means to you
is probably thinking that way because they care about others opinions. To them music isn't just entertainment. They have to justify it somehow before they can enjoy it.

I would say you're being too relativistic here. it is not unreasonable to asses music at least partly on some fairly objective bases (production quality, complexity, symmetry, variety, etc).

While your enjoyment at the end of the day is mostly subjective, I don't think the only thing you can say about a piece of music (or any other art) is "lol I like it".

There's a reason people practice and train to become better artists, and I think framing that reason in terms of a more objective assessment of art makes more sense than your wishy-washy binary and subjective view on music

>> No.15586536

>>15586433
But all those things are just thrown around and applied in a subjective way to make it sound like you've come to an objective conclusion. For one song they might say "it's production quality contributed to the greatness of the song" for another it might be "the low production quality was somehow charming". I'm also pretty sure there's tons of examples of anti-symmetry in music sounding really great while in other songs you'll say it's good for its symmetry.
Ask yourself where those assessments are coming from. Are you using some equation or formula to derive it? In the end it all still boils down to you just going with what you subjectively like.

Picking "objectively good" music is just the illusion of picking what you think everyone else will like.
and when something becomes too popular and too many different tastes get mixed into the pool of "what everyone likes" then your "objectively good" music ends up being generic and bland. Hence why I said:
>In my opinion over analysis of a genre, or placing more importance on the people behind the creation more so than how entertaining/enjoyable their creation itself is is what leads to the downfall of that particular media.

The _only_ point I've been trying to make this entire time is that enjoying music is more important than who makes it and it's more important than any set of arbitrary criteria for "objectively good music"

Quit saying I was personally insulted by the nanahira comment (even though in my very first post I literally said that what she means to me is nothing). The only reason I said that is because, again I was under the impression you said that just to imply the music is bad due to her being popular or something.

>You don't respect the opinions of others.
>You have to invent a whole process of negating someone's opinion because you disagree.
Half of this entire argument has been about the notion of good music in an _absolute_ sense. That is not an opinion. You can't talk about absolutes and then turn around and say "lol it's just an opinion". An absolute is a fucking absolute.

>The _only_ point I've been trying to make this entire time is that enjoying music is more important than who makes it and it's more important than any set of arbitrary criteria for "objectively good music".

How does people enjoy music? The core of the question lies there. It's obvious from what has been discussed here that some people enjoy simply enjoying thee melody and rythim of the music while others try to understand the rules behind those and apply some citeria (arbitrary, I must reckon) in order to give an opinion about what is been listened to.

This position doesn't neccesarily mean elitism because each music genre encompases a degree of complexity in the composition, certain practices, certain instruments, certain musical scales, even certain ideologies and messages. It is inside these series of characteristics in which a musical artwork or even any kind of art must be judged.

anyone here produce denpa, in any degree at all? i am a relatively knowledgeable producer but coming from the angle of the western genres i know (house techno jungle etc.) denpa seems like an impossible island, and when i try to make it i feel like i'm sinking into a riverbed, deep into the nilotic mud, like i don't know anything about production or sound design at all, and all the music theory in the world couldn't help me. i'm like a swan passing between two continents trying to make anything close to what the albums posted here are doing.
so yea post your soundcloud

>> No.15599980

>>15599883

Honestly the awareness of denpa in the west is so diluted it's not worth the effort. Very, veeery few people have duged into the origins of denpa back in the first halve of the 00's and even amongst fellow weebs few are really interested in denpa, even in stuff as entry level as moe denpa.

Denpa is a symbiosis bettwen the artist and the public, the "otaku" crowd. A song isn't really born denpa, it's named denpa by its listeners, this is why the definition of denpa is so vague.

Something like moe pop can earn its niché in the west though, stuff like Vocaloid and similar songs are very popular in the west already and from that to moe pop is just a couple steps.

>> No.15600010

>>15599883

Now if you are a COMPOSER, (the whole producer thing utterly confused me). You need to understand something: Denpa is a self-parody and self-glorifying expression of the idiosyncrasies of the "otaku" crowd.

You take whatever the "otaku" crowd glorifies in a certain point of time and twist it, exagerate it, bring it to the extreme. There are no rules to do this, do whatever you want, it can even be unpleasant to the ear. But what you do, the more witty, amusing, strange and original it is, the better.

Honestly, most denpa album covers try to catch the attention with something attractive or unusual that caters to its main public, the otaku. It's what is inside what matters.

Besides album covers are exclusively something from the doujin circles part of the denpa music (the biggest right now but not allways the biggest), so the focus is on cute and/or sexy covers

There is no real definition and people will define these terms how they want, but I'll give you my take on it:

There are many different characteristic that can make a song a denpa song. Here are a couple: Off-key vocals, nonsensical / humoristic lyrics, repetitive lyrics, lots of sudden rhythm changes, big variety of sounds/instruments, extremely happy sounding music, parts where the singer is talking instead of singing. In the end the thematic is often an over the top exageration of the moe phenomenon.

A denpa song doesn't need all of these to be called denpa, but usually has a few of them. A moe-pop song will have similar melodies from the main instrument/ vocals, especially during the chorus, but will lack almost all of these characteristics aside from being happy and cute and will follow the structure of a pop song pretty closely.

Back in the days when Momobako used to do Niconama frequently some female streamers got irked by her rise in popularity and decided to orchestrate a big shit-smearing campaign to "defeat" her. The most infamous incident was when Makoto (previously her friend, and not really the driving force behind the campaign) exposed a lot of details about her personal life, partners, family etc. including LINE chat logs. If you really are interested, it is still pretty much all over the net along with reuploads on Nicovideo. Most of it is juvenile and tiring.

The "talking behind her back" thing was fuel for the attacking side during the big niconama drama thing, and that was back in 2012. Team dmp went on for years after that. I think that it is likely that there will be a new release if Kaorin finds time for doujin stuff.

This album is going to be amazing. Does anyone have it pre-ordered or is planning to pick it up at the event?

I'll pick it up from toranoana or melonbooks if possible. Still bummed that I missed buying 00 and won't have a complete picolony nauts set unless I find it used somewhere.

More like a joke about abstract art but it's got nothing to do with denpa so imo it's not.

I agree also. The combo of a 'genki' or hyper-ish singer with a little whispery and healing style one makes a perfect duo.

I hope we'll hear more from Mepu and Maple Sugar some day, but as it looks now, her track on the Ruriu Denpabu CD may be her last, because it was recorded before she left. Hope she will come back like Kyarameru did.

Stop insulting women and you too might be considered a man one day.

Well you're certainly making it seem like one.
The comment you guys are so worked up about was such a tiny thing. The fact that you're trying so hard to make an example out of it tells me a lot about the kind of person I'm talking to right now, and it's quite depressing.

the fact that you've got 4 anons already replying to you should let you know how others feel about that comment but as usual, most people can't help but judge the world in their own measure so I'll just leave it here.
