In my head I feel like Sakuya is the least book interested out of the SDM cast. Remilia and Mei-Ling trade manga at least , Flan must be keeping busy with something, but Sakuya seems to focus on work all the time. Strangely enough I've always thought the subject of languages in the SDM to be really interesting.

Honestly Meiling's position as gate guard always seemed a little superfluous, as it seems like the job is completely unnecessary. The only folks that approach the gate are

1) Humans who happen to wander up the Mansion, and she's keeping them out more for their own safety than anything else.
2) People who show up intending to spar with her, in which case her location and job don't really matter.
and 3) Troublemakers who, due to the plot of whatever story is taking place, get past Meiling because they literally have to to continue the story, and as such her guarding the gate in the first place is pointless.

Multiple fan stories have dealt with her also keeping out low tier riffraff youkai and the like as well, but we've never been given any actual proof that this happens.
