Thanks. From your setup, I think what I'm messing up is that all of my best dive bombers are on Kaga and Hiryuu in the main fleet. Boss aerial support is Cranes, Akagi, Souryuu, and just has regular suisei and JU87Cs.

Also, I had sanshiki on my Ises (used Fusous on an earlier map, my mistake) in hopes that they would hit the boss for massive damage if the airstrike didn't do it.

Escort fleet is about the same as mine, but did you have KTKM set up for cut in or double attack?

For the boss debuff on E-6, one of the nodes you have to S-rank is E-5-I, which is an air battle. Is that right? It seems too easy to S-rank one of those, especially with land-based planes capable of delivering 4 rounds of fighter support.

Cut-in, but that was a horrible mistake since I haven't luck modded her yet. Even with sparkles, she didn't cut-in even once (and targeted things that were not the Battleship Princess most of the time on top of that).

I considered the T3 shell option on my BBVs, but since that only allows for double attacks and has no day artillery spotting option, it isn't nearly as good. (You really need your Zuiuns to survive all the way until the boss for both, though. The Ises' largest slot is 14, but hey, it depends on how many times the Tsus' AACI triggers.)

Plus, AP shells still have a bonus against installations, just less than T3 shells. Unless it's the artillery imps, in which case you want AP shells so that you can murder them as efficiently as possible (and is another reason to bring AP shells on your BBVs instead).

And yeah, I would recommend moving your best dive bombers over to the aerial support expedition instead. Main fleet's bombing set-up is up to you, really. I just went for full torpedo bombers in the hope that they would help with scratching down the health of whatever was left alive after my boss support hit.

1 of your carrier should always be Soryuu. That ekusa dive bomber is literally this event MVP. The 2remaining carrier spots should be reserved for non lv99 carrier. It's been awhile since I did E-5 so my thoughts on this aren't fresh, but I think I reasoned out that you could achieve parity with 2 double chevron seaplane fighters and some amount of LBAS fighters sent to the boss node.

I eventually came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth it. You lose the opening seaplane bomber strike and artillery spotting if you equip your CAVs with seaplane fighters. It hurts to endure the double attacks from the Rus, but I just think that air parity isn't worth it, especially when you consider that your seaplane bombers and artillery spotting helps you on preboss nodes as well.
