Recently I returned to the Akaneiro game because of the TV anime so the vid was highly amusing.

Interestingly enough in Akaneiro ni somaru saka the imouto character Minato is in fact blood related to the main character. They even look similar.

It's just that no one seems to care about this fact. They seemed to use the imouto angle for kicks but kicks are pointless if they don't hurt.

What did I just watch...?

No idea, but after watching couple of eroge based shows after playing the actual games it has become clear to me that they really are made for the audience of the original games.

The other function is to lure interested newcomers, preferably towards the original version or the console port.

Even if the show sucks dongs, there's always certain novelty of seeing them moving and talking.

Oh and Minato and Yuuhi are pretty moe, but Nagomi, Mitsuki and Tsukasa are way better. I hope the series retains this.

I'd say the game is completely enjoyable.

The scenario is fairly average school hijinx stuff but the characters especially Nagomi and Fuyuhiko are solid gold because they're halfway aware of being in a silly eroge.

Toradora showed it ugly face in episode 2, criminal behaviour I call that.
Show is so average, at least watchable but still no match for novel and manga.

Shows like Haruka, Koihime or the show in question are not worth to be called average, just bad shows lacking everything worthwile. Bad animeation, bad designs, ridiculous storytelling, shallow characters and blatant fanservice.
