Nanoha is a shonen fighting series in the same vein as Naruto or Bleach. The romantic relationships are supposed to be ambiguous, because character development is kept to a minimum in these types of series. This is usually done to keep the story going for 200 volumes and/or multiple seasons. The focus is the action, powerful bad guys, and the heroes training to defeat said bad guys often by going Super Saiya-jin/releasing their magical limiter.

So basically, Nanoha is whatever you want her to be at this point. Straight, gay for Fate, pedophile, whatever; all are acceptable and equally likely at this point.

Fate generally appears to take precedence in Nanoha's heart and in her concerns (except later, when it comes to Vivio), and they formed a pretty damn strong bond in season one. The line between what is yuri and what is not gets pretty fuzzy with that kind of thing.

Nanoha and Yuuno have a mutual understanding, but they really strike me more as friends. Nanoha generally treats Yuuno with an air of casual camaraderie, and completely disregards the fact that he's male on at least one occasion. The latter isn't something a girl is likely to do when it comes go a guy she likes. I think that if Nanoha and Yuuno end up together, they'll be more like a couple that forms out of habit/being at ease together rather than any kind of passion.

The kind of obsessive attention Nanoha exhibited towards Fate in season one was much more indicative of feelings of love, or at least something along the fine line between fascination and infatuation. Season three showed that they also cohabit comfortably.

In short, I just like the chemistry/history between Nanoha and Fate better.

I wasn't trying to argue that they are necessarily in 'romantic love' with each other. I was saying that Nanoha loves Fate, and the line between what is romantic and what is not can be very fuzzy and subjective when it comes to strong friendships between girls. Even in reality.

I would still argue that Nanoha experienced at least something along the fine line between fascination and infatuation in the first season. Her behavior in the second season was markedly different; she wanted to help Hayate, but she did not fixate on her in the same way. I'm not saying that Nanoha's fascination with Fate was necessarily 'romantic', but perhaps something more ambiguous... similar to the how the idea of 'akogare' incorporates a continuum containing strong admiration and crushes.

Do I need to say again that I'm not necessarily saying that I believe Nanoha has explicitly 'romantic' feelings for Fate? I do believe she loves her, and I would like to stress that the line can get fuzzy here when it comes to girls.

Ugh. I know this is trolling but like a bug to light I can't help but take notice. Nanoha is pretty much the series, I couldn't care less about NanohaFate, hell, I'd prefer she stayed single throughout continuing her near obsessive dedication to magic ignoring the advances of Fate and Yuuno alike.

At this point the main characters any gives a shit about come down to Nanoha, Fate, Hayate and the Wolkenritter (mostly Signum and Vita). Some of the others could do with more fleshing out, some need to be dropped hard, but mostly we just want to see more awesome moments with the characters we like. StrikerS pretty much pulled a Otome and expanded it's cast way too much with characters like Signum, Hayate and Fate getting less attention then you'd expect, or at least attention that didn't amount to much.

Also, fixed so yuri fags will accept Yuuno and Chrono.
