Do you think ZUN will actually allow Akyuu to die in 2024 or so?

>> No.15051741

I'm sure you already know this, but let me bring it up just in case: You're a moron, please never post again.

>> No.15051787

Time flows differently in Gensokyo than in the outside world.
It's about 10 times slower in Gensokyo if you compare certain dates from certain books with the outside world equivalent. That's why the characters don't seem to age.

But she looks dramatically older.

Artstyle change/artist laziness.
Also girls around the age of 11 tend to change appeareance alot in 1 year.
Trust me I know alot about girls of that age.

Care to make an example? Because so far I know it flows normally if you check Bunbunmaru's release dates.

Yeah, that anon is retarded.

To answer OP's question, he'll pretty much have to. He wrote Akyuu to have a short lifespan on purpose; there was no need to specify that if he didn't want to. To not let her die when the time comes with some asspull, just because he wants to keep making materials related to her, would be pretty fucking cheap. It doesn't have to be a tragic death, or anything; Akyuu herself should especially be fine with it.

Anyway, it's far enough in the future that she'll have more than served her purpose; there will probably be two more Gensoukyou Chronicle books by then, if ZUN keeps creating content at a similar pace. Of course, that brings up the possibility that he'll have hung up his hat by then, which would make it a moot point.

ZUN made Gensokyo and the Touhou universe follow the real world time (ours) but he doesn't want to handle the consequences of doing so (characters aging) so he just ignores it.

Unless he makes a convenient excuse in the future this is all that there is to it.

Dunno, but Zun brought it up again in Forbidden Scrollery.

Less than ten years left. Didn't Akyu say that she would probably die in her thirties in PMiSS? Guess that means she's 20 at the minimum.

And in Memorizable Gensokyo (published 2006) where she's still finishing up the Chronicle (published as Perfect Memento in Strict Sense in 2004), she says she's just over ten years old.

So are we going to play Phatasmagoria in 2065?

>> No.15052263

No. Killing her means acknowledging Reimu and Marisa are now old. They'll always remain vaguely teenage.

Time doesn't need to "flow differently" in Gensokyo for it to be outright ignored by ZUN. He just can if he wants and I think will, like how time and aging in Pokemon is ignored despite things happening, or in the Simpsons.

Though ten years is a long time so who knows what ZUN will do when the time comes...if Touhou even makes it that far.

I'm definitely no stranger to Simpsons aging, but it's Akyuu's presence and acknowledged aging that makes it weird. It's like if Milhouse slowly grew older and started a family.

I always think of Ash being perpetually 12 years old.

How old are Marisa and Reimu?

This is part of the timeline after the PC-98 era
2001/11/18? - Curiosities of Lotus Asia Chapter 22 (flashback)
117/9/2nd - (Bunbunmaru Newspaper) "The Truth about the Enigmatic History Society"

Season 118 (2003) - Year of Moon, Autumn, and Wood
Summer
2003/08/12 (118/7/15) - Embodiment of Scarlet Devil
The Vampire Incident (Perfect Memento: Reimu Hakurei) must have occurred at an unknown time before this date.
First usage of the Hakurei Spell Card Rules to resolve an incident.

And this happened in Season 115, 4th of Hazuki (~September 1st, 2000)

Marisa and Reimu look to be around 12-15 in 2000

21 years old heading on 22 actually.

Although we don't the exact date we do know Akyuu was born sometime in August 1994 according to the one one article by Aya about the announcement of her birth. That is assuming the article was even printed at the time of her birth and not a bit after.

It is by far the most accurate indicator we have of her age, so she has roughly 8 years left in her.

Most of them have Aya articles related to them that can place them in one year or so before the game releases. Because you know ZUN can only work fast enough after Yukari told him the latest of her tales.
