Well for the first show in NYC Itoh was there and they did a lot of filming. I didn't know there was a concert that year so I bought my ticket at the last minute and had to stand in the General Admission floor. Being short I couldn't see past several people so I had to view the concert from the tv screens which defeats the whole live concert vibe. It was fun and full of energy overall.

I'm fairly sure there's professional artists that have made known their own negative opinion with regard to the software's interface, particularly during its earliest iterations.

As a whole though? Vocaloid is not a bad solution for the missing vocalist / low budget situation. The domain is also pretty much used to ad hoc methods and tool mix and match for the most part.
I think during one of kz's interviews, he described it as a creative hub - frankly that's pretty much self evident with the variety of media it's acquired in the past 9(?) years.

Probably the best you'll find is some archive of some worthless punk vocalist, moaning about how it's taking their jerbs and "that's horrible!" - then promptly curling into a corner after the twitter army goes off and makes them realize how pathetically insignificant they are.

I love everything about it, but I especially like the vocals. I didn't know vocaloids could sound so good, a few years ago it was very obviously machine-like and I wasn't really into it. The part where it goes "knock out, gimme gimme" just harmonizes with my brain somehow in addition to being very cute and jpop-like.

I also like the electro/pop/dance/rave blend the song has going with the prominent synth and drums and catchy structured vocals. I'm shit at pinpointing genres but I guess it's not house, trance nor anything progressive.

I'm planning on buying one of the Project Diva games on the Vita, but I'm not sure which one I should buy.

As for what game you should get, it doesn't really make a difference (especially since you'll likely end up getting both of them if you enjoy it). Look up the song lists and search for the songs on youtube, pick the one you like the most overall.

I would agree with most of these changes, but I wouldn't include albums just because they are popular. I'm being biased, but I would back Yuuyu, otetsu, sasakure.UK, xenonP, and not the rest. I'm fine with the album swaps though. The list should definitely limit one album per producer.

Also, there's a few albums that don't belong on an essential list, at least in my eyes. Eutopia and My temperature are high on my "to remove" list. Maybe they add to music diversity, but there are better albums that also add diversity imo. For example:

Hitoshizuku-P and Nem definitely belong in an essentials list, at least. They're not just popular, their music is great as well. Hitoshizuku has a lot of top tier story songs like PartyxParty, the Night series, etc. Nem is a top tier jazz producer and does some amazing tuning with Gumi and Len. I agree that Dixie Flatline is kinda hit or miss overall, though.

However, if the list maker adds this album they need to note that the mixing/compression is really weird in this album. There's an audible difference in all of the tracks that makes everything sound super compressed and dry. I havent been able to get as much input on it as I haven't had posters like you all giving feedback on it that much. The list has been based on my judgment after listening a lot of it's music and other stuff from /mu/ which helped me understand what makes an album "essential", if that makes sense.

To clarify, there's a difference between To Pimp A Butterfly and whatever Vocaloid album there is out there in terms of production and distinctiveness, but Mikgazer can go toe to toe with most shoegazer albums. /mu/ has given Mikgazer high praises, but it's certainly not on the same level as loveless.

I'll see if I can work on the list sometime soon with these changes in mind. I'll need all the feedback I can get on it.

I think you made a good overall view of the vocaloid phenomenon.

But you should consider do some changes. You wrote that Gumi is a Crypton vocaloid, which is wrong (she belongs to Internet Co.). I think you should also mention IA, since she is way more popular than Meiko, Kaito and Luka. Mentioning vocaloids others than the cryptonloids (and crediting their right developers) would give your paper a better overall view of vocaloid.

You may also want to emphasize the fact that vocaloid is mainly a japanese phenomenon, but there's also non-japanese vocaloids and a vocaloid culture overseas.

Another cool thing to write about would be the influence of vocaloid in development of other voice synthesizers.

Well that sucks. I'm pretty sure you can download the latest update from third party sites just by googling "mikuture apk." How did you get the model to crop like that or did you shop it?

It's cropped by in-app function named mask.

And yes, there is .apk file on the web, but with it You can have only model of original Miku. They were also Snow Miku, Sakura Miku, Miku Append, Yuzuki Yukari and v flower. They probably should work again after paste app files from person who have these models.
