Yeah, I think moege generally is just used to refer to games based around picking a girl and dating her with not much else about it, so comedy fits neatly with it. Moege tend to have long common routes so you can get used to the girls so comedy is usually used to keep the momentum up anyway.

Playing フツウノファンタジー at the moment, it's pretty funny and unique in that their world is completely bizarre and seem to follow the rules of old school JRPG to the letter, with static people repeating the same lines over and over and turn based combat

Well, forgive my ああ言えばこう言う but Daitoshokan is an August game and August has a team of scenarists that are well known to be very good. Whereas, wagahigh does not have nearly as shiny credentials. No problem with trying it out of course. To be honest I enjoyed the same team's work more in the common route of Koikuma than any of the Nekopara works. It's a shame about the character routes, though, the comedy was solid in the common route but the character routes were a bore.

Memorable heroines, which is a sort of vague and personal concept that goes in hand with good writing. Good production values and art also go a long way since the girls have to be actually attractive to the player, in contrast to f.ex. plotge that can still be great despite lackluster art. There's also some special cases like Twinkle Crusaders and Princess Witches that also have enjoyable gameplay to go with the moe.

My personal measure of a good moege is that the more post-game depression I get after the finishing the game, the better it was. Also whenever the game actually manages to make the jaded me go ドキドキ.

It does seem that too many people here base their opinions on Twitter. But I played Tokyo Necro myself and it's actually good. I said it in a previous thread but the production values are amazing, even for Nitro+, the setting is well done and the true end and underlying message are pretty touching. I don't think Shimokura's non-special writing did much harm to it unless you're really paying attention to it. The rest is so well done I kind of forgot about it, and the pace was fast enough to hide Shimokura's main flaws.

So I played this eroge from 2007 with loli-like designs and pure love atmosphere, and it had this class president heroine. She was rich, quiet and calm. I thought she was going to be the typical submissive heroine so when I entered her route I was prepared to see some icha icha but she suddenly goes into full sadistic mode. She was actually a legit misandrist who got horny by bullying the MC. She often says 「男って本当に汚い動物だね。私、女でよかった」 after H-scenes and whatnot. She's obsessive and starts inviting the MC for sex just to bully him, starts texting the MC obsessively after he tries to avoid her, etc. Near the end she becomes MC's girlfriend and promises to stop doing that but in the last H-scene mid-scene she goes nuts and starts slapping the MC while forcingly riding him and ridiculing him, telling him he's her 性欲処理 tool. After that she apologizes saying that her mind went blank.

I never liked femdom, I always saw it in nukige and I never got the appeal.
Until now. Damn. I think the gap between her in the jun'ai common route and the deviant individual route did it for me.

I just finished the Chigusa route in Green Green, the first time I'm reading a VN with any serious plot untranslated. I didn't get the good ending so I was looking around in hopes of finding some info but it seems there isn't much around, which is to be expected since it's pretty old.

Anyone here that can give pointers for her route? A lot of choices seem pretty unclear on how they might affect the ending since I would expect scenes to happen differently but then they mostly ended up the same if I reloaded and chose something different. Maybe I just didn't get enough of what was being said though.

Basically yes. And you'll get the thing you preordered. Sofmap has separate preorder tickets for Maitetsu alone and for Maitetsu+Monobeno set. I don't see why Trader wouldn't be the same, so your ticket seems to be Maitetsu alone. Also I don't see why you wouldn't get preorder bonuses when you preordered, it's probably just not noted on the ticket like it's on the Sofmap ones. You can always go to the store and ask though.

Just finished Clockwork Leyline 1. It had many elements I liked a lot, primarily the focus on event CGs over HCGs. I liked how it was essentially a moege but dressed up in a plotge shell which made it really engaging, I liked how you could branch into girls routes along the main plot at different times instead of having a common route that splits halfway through. I liked how the protagonist's personality was made apparent in both the text and the events, and I liked that he had a noticable personality in general, it felt like I was looking through his eyes throughout the game rather than a blank narrator camera. I liked how the choices made you think, even if they weren't really that complex. Overall there was a lot to like here, stuff I'd like to see better reflected in the entire VN scene, I think if a good chunk of the moeges coming out today changed out their 地味な日常 setting for something like Leyline's setting and used that as a driving force for the common route the industry would be a less stagnant... well, I'm definitely not one to talk of the industry like that, what do I know, that's just the feeling I get. Anyway, good game.

I just finished the dumbest confession scene ever in Michi's route and I loved it. The story's stupid humor is enjoyable and I find the style of having a narrator to be a good touch.

I gotta say, あの晴れわたる空より高く taking place on Magic Rocket Island at the Rocket School for Rocket Kids where every student is Big Into Rockets and joins Rocket Clubs and makes Rockets is pretty damn disappointing. I envisioned some crazy group of crazy rocket enthusiasts challenging the odds and accomplishing the impossible, but in truth it's like reality is literally bending around them to make it possible by altering the scenario into the maximally optimal situation for making a rocket... I dunno, there's just not a lot of excitement or daring in it for me anymore. I hope the scenario really emphasizes how hard rocket science is and whatnot to give it back that daring feeling. As of right now it just seems like the scenarists managed to make high schoolers building and subsequently launching a giant rocket seem boring and par for the course.

I'm also not a big fan of how the game opens up with the end-game rocket launch, like c'mon you're gonna show me the finished rocket NOW instead of after hyping it up all game?
