Really, I knew that TakaJun was insane, but the fact that he cared about this game enough to actually translate it just seals the deal. For exmaple, the slice of life parts are exactly like the inane stuff in Wind, except with more discussion about food and preparing food. This is about a whopping 75% percent of the game right there.

That said, this is probably one of the most effective fantasy, nerd-wish fulfillment games I have ever played. Your main guy is a generic "perfect male", Risa is the most unrealistic female I have ever seen (she fucks her own dog, then fucks yours, and then fucks them both while you fuck her) and the whole "pet" concept is just the work of a drunken madman. This game successfuly appeals to all ronery tastes, and for that it does deserve praise.

From what I've read so far, Wanko's protagonist just seems like an ideal pile of plot devices stuffed in one place. I don't know if he's supposed to be the kind of guy the readers want to be (probably yes?), but I find him kind of annoying.

Mostly because crafting so many plot devices into a character is lazy storytelling. The main character can say anything to anyone and get away with. There's no suspense. If it wasn't for the cute imagery, this would be a bad _book_.

Whereas, take Planetarian or Kana ~ Little Sister. If you stripped the cute pictures and worked around the edges, they could actually be good books in their own right. Perhaps nothing to get Nobel prizes with, but at least they would work.
