So tsundere~
Also, DIVIDE YOUR FUCKING HARD DRIVE.
It's way easier to have 30 GB for Vista & programs and 370 GB for everything else (Docs, torrents, porn and games).
This way, in case you fuck up, just format the Vista partition and repeat again. Shared partition doesn't have "ACCESS DENIED LOLOL" either.

There's nothing inherently wrong with vista, other than that it's a RAM hog

Vista didn't really improve anything over XP...there wasn't really anything radically changed except the look.

If you want to talk in terms of changes worthy of a version name, think OS9 vs OSX

>> No.1460427

im using it now and it does not seem to be any different from xp. the only thing that is different is that i use so much more ram while idling.

The only reason why people hate vista is because they still think that vista now is the same as vista a year ago. sp 1 really did fix everything that was wrong with vista when it was released.

i guess vista got off on the wrong foot. even if people still hate her i love my vista so much...except that it cant run a few games properly...now that sux

>> No.1460458

There are a few minor things about Vista I enjoy, like volume control for individual programs, resizable thumbnails for icons, the interface for folder paths, and that thing >>1460438 said. I have enough RAM and a dual core processor, so it doesn't have any problems running anything. I also don't have any programs that don't work with it, even all my old/obscure visual novels work.

Also, I like the decision to drop the "My" before everything, as in "My Computer," "My Pictures," and "My Documents." Extremely minor detail, but I always hated that anyway.

Wow, I'm amazed to find a intelligent and level-headed discussion on Vista. I was expecting shit slinging.

I used to talk shit on Vista all the time, and swore I'd never "use that shitty OS". Then one day I decided to make a Vista partition on one of my HDDs and try it out. And amazingly I started liking it only after a couple hours. It's now my main OS, but I do still have a XP partition just incase there's something that is absolutely incompatible with Vista. Despite really liking Vista now, it is a RAM hog, and I wouldn't be using it if it weren't for the fact that I have 4GBs of RAM (I'd highly advise against Vista on older machines and ones with less than 2GBs of RAM).

Vista might be a RAM hog but RAM is so cheap now days it doesnt really matter, i'd gladly have over 10 GB or RAM if there wasnt this shitty 32 bit limitation well "36 bit" if you're forcing your 32 bit windows to use the 4 GB of RAM.

It certainly is cheap, but looking at the latest Steam hardware survey 61% of people have less than 1.5 GBs of ram. 38% do have 2 GB or more though.
I'm using Vista 64-bit, I probably should replace my four 1 GB sticks with 2 GB ones.

Well you should get more then 4 GB of ram if you're on x64, well most of the PC out there are quite bad and outdated also most users really have no clue about the hardware. I see people still judging CPU by the name and how much Ghz it has...

Agreed. I think one of the reasons holding me back from switching to 2GB sticks is DDR3 RAM slowly coming onto the market. I know it's probably far away from being economical, but it's enough to make me hesitate.

Also, lol engrish.

Well no matter how you put it 4GB is a quite enough for everything you need to do,software is probably behind hardware right now. DDR3 is probably going to come about the same time as 8-16 core CPUs so I'd wait. Also I almost always forget to put the s-es at the end of plural stuff.

If you look at pixiv vista still dosent have a standardized look every artist is making one... but i'd says the classic brown one is the most accepted.

Sort of off topic but I guess the brown Vista-tan won over the aqua haired one in terms of popularity? actually prefer the brown one, she has a lot more character and the other one was kind of generic looking

My Vista installation just died completely. First I got a crash and a blue screen. Then I restarted and got a crash trying to start in safe mode. Now it won't boot at all, and just says to insert a boot disk.

It was probably a virus or something though, not Vista.
