Use a carrier fleet. Katori/Kashima/4CV - ABKM, 2 DD (one with AACI is helpful), 2 CA (with sanshiki), 1 CLT. You clear E-4 M before yasen the majority of the time and if not then the 2 CA in the escort clean up. And because this event isn't using CVs much the bauxite usage from running the carriers isn't really that much of an impact.

AA Hime is using the smallest caliber guns the British had, and CL Hime is using single barrel 6" cannons that no one in the Allies would be caught dead with outside of WW1. I'm close to finishing the event and I didn't even get a single Maruyu. Lost half of resources at E3 and didn't even get dupe Umikaze to at least feel good about getting something rare. E3, we know perfectly what it is, pure bullshit. Now I'm halfway done with E5, my waifu isn't performing well and prime ring candidate chokes every fucking sortie. In all honesty, Kawakaze has been the smartest, most durable and accurate ship so far despite being 40-82 levels below everyone else and being filled with drums for most of the runs.
Sure, I got Graf quickly, but E4 is a map (the only one) I could gladly farm for 200 sorties so even in this aspect I'm unlucky. And now that I cleared it on Hard, farming spare Yuu/Roma/41cm isn't very realistic.
