When I write something I usually start with a single idea, be that a scene I want to write, or a relationship dynamic I want to play with, or whatever. I develop from there, adding in things that compliment the base idea, like supporting characters and more scenes I could do, etc, in no particular order. Then I pick a good place to start and hammer everything into a cohesive plot as I go.
Spaceworm has a lot more moving parts than the other stuff I've done though. I've got a couple different overall plots and ways to develop the story to choose from, but I'll have to discard some stuff either way, and I'm too indecisive to pick. So now I'm stuck.
