I really love Touhou, but I'm having a hard time finding any touhou communities that aren't shrinemaiden or dead. Anybody have a suggestion?

Also Reimu and Marisa thread because I love those two.

Saw some art on danbooru celebrating the 20 year anniversary too, so that's neat.

Why do you have a need for finding a Touhou community?

What is there to discuss/talk about that has not been discussed a million times already?

It'd just be nice to have a place dedicated to discussing it with other people who enjoy the series.

Not OP, but I get what he means. I wanted to discuss LoLK with people when it came out. Sure I participated in the threads at the time, but it's not the same as talking in real time like in irc or something.

i was banned from #/jp/ on irc ;_;

>> No.14248407

There are none. /jp/ has the biggest english speaking touhou community and most active discussions. Then there are MotK (which you don't like) and r/touhou (which obviously is terrible). And then there are very small scattered discussions on anime forums, tvtropes etc.

You're here forever.

Touhou is kill so good luck. In three years time the fanbase will have evaporated, leaving for greener pastures in KanColle, ShrineMaiden will go offline, and ZUN will have retired to a life of alcoholism.

There's eientei forums. I dunno if it's any better than motk, and it's relatively low activity, but it's different I guess. Aside from that, there's probably irc channels you could find for whatever your main 2hu interests are. And /jp/.

There's also the Danbooru community and Espernet's #touhou (it's associated with the Touhouwiki people, I think).

Probably also a substantial Facebook community but I don't think anyone here wants to have anything to do with that.

There's also some Touhou discussion on /v/, but that tends to vary in quality from day to day.

Why are you going to normie board?

>> No.14250732

Touhou has that old school community interaction where most of the activity does take place in circles and events. There's not that much online discussion for Touhou even in Japanese but then there are a lot of active circle and following of doujin artists. Which means unfortunately there's not that much visible online for a western fan.

You are on /jp/, a touhou board.

To be fair, /v/ touhou threads are pretty decent when it comes to discussion of the gameplay itself.
2hu and other Japanese things are anathema to /v/'s cancerous teenaged userbase so it's a natural filter

I'll be nice.
The distinction is that people who hold social status in high regard, and would hate to transgress society's strict politically correct guidelines are loath to use a word like "fag", even when they're anonymous and it's been a term of endearment in the culture for a very long time.
"Normie" is something /r9k/ created quite recently and reddit and social media ran away with because it's a word they can say.
The more you know.

I want /v/ to leave.

>> No.14251136

>>14251010
I'd say it has more to do with not really having anything in particular to talk about, gameplay wise. Touhou has a huge skill ceiling, but it's not as if there's much to discuss about the actual act of streaming or reading patterns. And you can only rank the top games/BGM/etc so many times.

>> No.14251285

>>14251136
There is a lot to talk about in scoring, but few people do that, so it rarely happens here. I think forums/imageboards are a bad medium for conversation about the games compared to something like irc, for which there is still an active community with good players. I don't think the anonymity on 4chan helps much either.

>> No.14251346

>>14251285
Of course there's plenty to talk about with scoring, but only a fraction of a fraction of Touhou players are equipped to seriously pursue scoring over just surviving. Even though I can 1cc Lunatics, I wouldn't even begin to think about scoring a game until I can at least LNB it.

>> No.14251946

>>14251346
There's nothing wrong with learning scoring early on. It's more fun than survival in my opinion and may help you improve faster. People talk about scoring like it's impossible but you can take a category as far as you want, although some will be harder to get into.
