This is a WIP.
It's an arrange of Pandemonic Planet from Touhou 15, i wanted it to be a little more style.

I fixed the way he turns so now it's a lot more free form. There's still an animation bug which has to do with how unity crossfades animations I guess. I still haven't figured it out but you can see it in this video a few times where he swims without moving.

I finally got meshes rendering on z-levels and making the surface exactly how I wanted it. I am considering some sort of height map deformation but I wouldn't know how to do that. right now it will be a splash animation I work on.

Several things. The jellyfish now splashes, the jellyfish now goes full bright when out of water(may change this somehow or just add some lights in the sky), and figured out a simple way to add island backgrounds, which will be covered by background elements so they don't have to be complex.

Several issues towards the end are apparent (such as water particle specks that are on different z positions go out of the water (they work when not too far in front, but the point is I like having foreground specks)

I'm still not sure about how to implelement time stuff...

Right now it moves at like 4 minutes / second or something. But what about time-skip? Like you might not want to wait until the next day if you miss a loli on her way to school...

Or you might want to just skip to the weekend...

Or for when you knock up a 12yo and want her to give birth already...

The artist suggested to make the game progress when you're not playing as well. But then people are just going to alter their system clock, then what happens when they set the time to be before the last time recorded? Reverse time? And then you're kind of forcing players to play every day or two to feed/look after their lolis/etc...


So what should I do? Should I have a timeskip button? Should timeskip only happen on certain times? Should there be an "end-day" button that skips to he next morning? Or maybe sleeping in a bed could do this...

Should the player only play 1 day for each month? Or 2 days (1 weekend one weekday) each month? Or alternate between weekdays/weekends on different months?

You can tweak the times to what matters for the game as a whole. I don't imagine waiting for a loli to grow up is an important aspect of the game, so you can cut that and directly spawn them at the minimum age of a visible loli, perhaps after a few days.

If interaction with food is an important action, then you should keep that.

Again, find what parts of the game are important and adjust the times to maximize the times for these, and minimize the times for the unimportant parts.

Or, that's what I suggest , at least. If you're going for realism, of course, then you're going to be stuck.

The arpeggiating piano sounds annoying, mainly because it sounds so robotic. 1:13 - 1:20 sounds pretty good though. I like how the piano parts changes after that, you should have done so sooner. The song gets much better after 1:55. If I were you, I'd cut a little of the beggining and make the piano range wider and the pattern a little bit more recognizable, for a lack of a better word. The only problems I've noticed were that some layer transitions were too harsh and some samples had a bit of unwanted noise. I've never experienced something like what you describe. You could try feeding it some midi data recorded and played by a human to verify if is not your playing.

Just in case you have no ideas and want to start drawing something immediately, how about something like this, only with Suika? She could be wearing a shrine maiden outfit, the guys could be wearing fundoshi, it'd be fun times.

You could do it in a couple of different ways, to suit your own tastes. Suika's clothes could be the same as Reimu's, or something more traditional. I like abubu's "basically transperent, nothing left to the imagination" fundoshi, but you could go with something more modest. And I think a smile suits Suika best, but she could just as easily be horrified at the situation, or licking her chops at the impending appearance of dongs.

I am set on working on a little Touhou-Album now, with around five tracks or so. It'll probably be metal as it's the only genre I can somehow confidently do.

Now what I need are two things:
Some test-listeners who would be willing to listen to the drafts throughtout the process until it's a finished song. I don't want to post every single step online since it'll take away from the "surprise" of listening to the song when it is finished, I think.
The second thing would be an artist to draw an album cover, because I want this to be a real deal. I would draw it myself if I could handle colours or had a tablet, but I don't.

Yes. it is a white-spotted jellyfish. I've been trying to find ways of making it look more like the real thing but it looks very bland without its eye. It is what gives it a little personality.

Timeskip via sleep works well.
Or through some other activity, like reading, watching TV, shitpost on the /jp/, etc.
You could make awake activities go at double speed or something like that, so it isn't entirely time-skipping, just passing the time.


As for game running "in background", you could simply make it an option to appease everyone.
Likewise with the timeskip if you wanted, could add a End Day option in the options.

As for the period during time-skip, you could calculate scenarios that would require your attention and wake you up for whatever reason. (and again, as an option)

You could roll these under various gameplay modes.
Stuff like "real, standard dating game progression, full sandbox" and shit like that.
