It's about the music, whether they met each other while buying coke and started playing at biker bars or they were drafted through a talent agency really doesn't matter as far as the music is concerned.


If anything, they're even better as a manufactured band because they can reach out to countless songwriters and producers instead of always working with the same 4-5 people like "organic" bands who run out of ideas after like 4 albums at most.


and hell, a lot of these "organic" bands end up throwing out members and replacing them and breaking up and reforming and having members quit and at the end of the day it ends up being the band of just one guy, no different than what Koba does.

I roll my eyes every time i hear the term "manufactured band". So group of friends get together and form a band, all 4 or 5 of them "organically" (the idea that each one of them happen to play the right instruments and none were scouted/auditioned is rare or fantasy), after 5 or 10 successful years two of them leave for personal reasons, what happens? They simply audition for two new musicans and carry on, the band name stays the same and the new guys WILL play songs that were composed by the former members. I will avoid saying names here, but everyone one knows that there are bands that had 10-20 members over the years, some have only 1 original member left. How is that not manufactured? All of them are following the band leader, their manager and the record label, the band does not change the name because it means losing the fan base that was built over the years and so all the comercial success. There is only diferent ways to create music groups or bands, and yes all play for money, thats how the world works. If the people behind the project and the ones that execute it (musicans, singers, performers), love what they do, its not manufactured. I never heard of a "manufactured Orchestra" and yet it is the same principle of Babymetal, someone composed the music, formed the group (hire musicans), and the end product is entretaining. Oh btw, the "non-manufatured" band he mentioned One Ok Rock is signed for Amuse Inc., the same company/label of Babymetal.

As long as they put out quality stuff, it doesn't matter. Maybe we will one day live in a Star Trek utopia where one does not work for their bread, but instead just do whatever they find inspiring. Until then the arts will be capitalized upon just as anything else.

At the end of the day, unless you're on an indie label and every band member contributes their piece there is a certain level of manufacturization. This is why a lot of artists have disputes with their labels.

And hey, Moa and Yui already had writing credits at what, 12/13 years old? Calling them manufactured isn't unfair but it gives the impression they're robots with no free will in it just for money and fame. I personally don't care though. I only get annoyed when something trashing them says outright false info about them.

Music is a bit weird case, it has a lot of power. Some people define themselves by what music they listen to, and so on, it's not just entertainment. But I haven't studied this phenomenon at all so I'm not sure where to go with it.

Off topic and I hate to say it but does anyone else think Su is regressing as a singer? She still struggles with sustained high notes and some have been scrapped completely like at the end of RoR. We were sitting in class together and she was putting her number in my phone and the teacher got mad at us for talking....but the teacher was like an indian/pakistani midget with no arms or legs and he was rolling around the class. The diary is part of the process of making you "care" about your dreams even more. To get you engaged on every level, so that it eventually seeps to your subconscious. Maybe you need it, maybe you don't. You could try the imposter method of concentrating before sleeping, too.

If you need something to motivate yourself, try Wake Initiated Lucid Dream (WILD) technique. It will probably fail, but it's really fascinating to see those strange colors and patterns. Makes you wonder about what the heck is this brain thing anyway.
